Quirky uber knowledable. The tougher the problem the more he relentlessly tears into the problem. 40 years in Eugene and a Eugene original 10/2022 same quality work. He is busy but is bringing his brother back after a 20 year break (they owned the shop together for 20+ years prior to this) to help out

Dropped off my van Dec 26th to swap out an engine and same issue as other reviewer, put down $1000. engine company kept asking for the old engine, I had the shipping all set up, some stroke of luck my new engine shipped out anyway even though bad one was and still has not been sent back. I kept asking for a pic of the BOL and kept being told it was shipped till finally was told “have to be honest I haven’t pulled it out yet” This was 2 months later. Kept being told next week, next week. After reading the last review I got concerned and started stoping in every week or so. So 5 1/2 months later finally got my van back. He tried to charge me for towing my van back and forth from his storage, really? It should never have never been towed from his shop in the first place. Had to threaten to sue to get anything knocked off the inflated bill at the end!

Very knowledgeable and fair. We're bringing all our vehicles here moving forward. Darren is very good with all cars but really knows Volkswagens and older cars. It's not easy to find someone who can work on older cars for carburetor work, etc. This is definitely the place to come if you have an older car!

I’ve been going to Thramer’s Automotive since I was 16 when I got my first car — a Jetta. Darin has always been kind and honest with me about my cars. His expertise was always delivered with patience. It’s been more than a decade since that first VW, and I now drive all the way from Washington with my Tiguan when I need service, because he’s reliable and respectful. His one-man operation might not be fast, but I know that I can trust his work.

Honest, skilled mechanic. When you find one you keep them. Darrin is a great guy. He has helped us out a ton and never once overcharged us. He recently sent us away after another source (oil change company) told me I needed brakes. He could have easily just replaced them but he is a person with great integrity. Highly recommended.

This shop is a VW specialist. Worked on my 1955 that others didn’t want to touch. Phenomenal job and fair prices. Also took them a project 1968 Cutlass. Runny great now and pleased with all the work that was done. Recommend 100%. Down to earth people that are a pleasure to work with.
