Very happy with my experience here! This was the 3rd stop for the car issue: dealership merely said there was a leak and wanted $900+ to fix the transmission fluid leak; shop number 2 properly diagnosed the issue, and said they weren't qualified to make the fix. After looking up reviews and making calls, we decided to try out Thurston County Transmission. Matt broke down what the issue was and what was necessary to fix it. He worked with me to find the most cost efficient way of replacing the part, ended up saving me $2000, while still using dealership parts. Transparency is one of the most important things I look for in any mechanical service, Thurston County Transmission is crystal clear.

I called and set up an appointment to get my transmission checked. When I showed up, they were extremely professional and thorough. Very very happy to be able to have a trusted shop with honest people when I have transmission issues!

I had called today asking about getting my spark plugs replaced. While they weren’t able to get me in for this (and he was apologetic and kind about that) I found he was extremely helpful in telling me what a fair price would be and broke everything down for parts and labor and said it should be around $450-$500. This was amazing because I originally had a quote elsewhere for around $800. I found a place within the price range they recommended me which saved me SO much money. So I didn’t get my car serviced here but what I can say is this business runs ethically and they’ll be very upfront about everything. They were more than happy to help me even though they didn’t get any money from me or even a scheduled appointment. If I ever need them for other repairs more suited to their shop they’ll be first on my list to call. Thank you again!

I got my transmission fixed within about 1-2 weeks after an emergency drop off. Matt helped me out and was very thorough and patient with my questions and also the process. The expertise at Thurston County Transmission is unmatched with Larrys ingenuity but wouldn't be the same without Matt’s customer service. If you need any transmission work or if you have any second thoughts of the price associated with the service I am here to assure you that they took care of me at a tough time. Thank you Matt and Larry you're my go to shop from now on.

I had to have my Dodge Ram 1500 transmission rebuilt. After calling tumwater automotive they sent me here. I honestly couldn't be happier. They were friendly and talked me through the whole process. If I ever need work done on any future vehicles I will go here!!

Outstanding service - I highly recommend Thurston County Transmission! Matt and Larry are genuine mechanics who go above and beyond to make sure you are taken care of. I brought them my daughter’s Ford Escape to get the transmission repaired and they not only repaired the transmission, but also took the time to troubleshoot and fix another issue they discovered. I’m 100% satisfied with the service I received.

Brought my box truck in on a Wednesday just before a major holiday and Thurston county transmissions had my work truck back up and running By the following Tuesday. I could not sing enough praises for this company. They really did me good. And the transmission works beautifully thank you thank you thank you. I would highly recommend this company to anybody. Other transmission shops quoted me 10 days to three weeks to get a transmission rebuilt and they did it in six days. Matt called me every day except the weekends to let me know what was going on with the truck thank you, matt.

We feel VERY LUCKY we found Thurston County Transmission to diagnose and repair our Trailblazer SS!!! Matt was unbelievably communicative and upfront regarding the issues with our rig…they tried first to repair what could’ve been the problem just to make sure they didn’t do a full overhaul that would not have been needed. After a test drive it was still was showing it needed more than just that repair…Matt worked with me on cost of a full overhaul, explained their lifetime warranty and very transparent with the finish date. Let me tell you I could tell a HUGE difference when I drove off the lot, my rig drives better than when I first purchased it in 2006 NO exaggeration!! The ONLY wish I have is that worked on more than transmissions *wink* we’d have our truck in there for repairs in a heartbeat!! Thanks so much Matt & Larry!! Christine & T

Now, this is a story all about how My life got flipped-turned upside down And I'd like to take a minute Just sit right there I'll tell you how my truck had to be brought in for repair. In eastern Montana is where I drove and played On the prairie was where I spent most of my days Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool And all shootin off with a camera at storms that were cool When a couple of gears that were up to no good Started making trouble in my neighborhood I got in one little jam and I got scared So I took it to a shop where the prices were fair It was fixed with a wrench and I drove day after day packed up my suit case and moved away
I revved up the truck and made it without a ticket. I got to Yelm and said, 'I might as well kick it'. First class, yo this is rad Drinking orange juice out of a Bel-Jar glass. Is this what the people of Yelm living like? Hmm this might be alright. But wait I hear more gear trouble and all that This is the trouble I don’t need where I’m at I don't think so Where to go, oh I know where
I hope they're prepared for this truck with care Well, when I showed up Matt came out There was a dude really knew what he was talking about These guys at the shop are the coolest I have met They were fair and straight forward No hidden fees and honestly was what you get I sprang with the quickness like lightning, disappeared I left the shop and had no fear I was told we will get that truck in to gear If anything I could say that this service was rare But Matt said 'Nah, forget it' - ‘we just care’ I pulled up to the shop it wasn’t late
And I yelled to Matt 'Yo homes how’s she running?’ I looked at my truck I was in total repair A smooth running transmission fixed with care Seriously though. You want something done right with nothing hidden, AND they will tell you everything that is wrong under your vehicle, these are the guys you want to take your car or truck too. Not only did they fix my transmission, they also fixed a bad axle. For as much work that needed to be done the price was more than fair and it was honest pricing right up front. I seriously can not believe a transmission could shift so smooth.

I took my car here and thought it was slipping gears. Looked up the cost of transmission repairs and got really worried. I checked the reviews on Thurston County Transmission and canceled my appointment with another mechanic. Glad I did, these guys know transmissions. They were quickly able to assess that the issue wasn't slipping gears and the car battery was the issue. I went in thinking the transmission work could cost thousands and thanks to honest mechanics, the full diagnostics and battery replacement only set me back a few hundred bucks.

My husband took his 2015 Hellcat in to have the clutch replaced. We took it to a shop up North instead. They told us the fly wheel wasn't replaced at all, and the discs weren't aligned properly.

I called them because my car was having transmission problems. They explained it a lot of what was going on with my car (far more than what dealerships do), told me I could bring my car in and they can look at it when they had a chance. They were always very up front and honest, and managed to get my car fixed up within the week. Ive had it back for just over a week and haven't had any issues. Saved me 1000 dollars compared to what I was quoted at the dealership. Thank you!

I recently purchased a used F-150 4x4 w/over 100k miles on it. Took it to TCT to give it a once over and address my concerns about the transfer case. They took it the very next morning. Larry did his assessment and let me know my transmission was good. No need for repair or maintenance. They could have easily talked me into a new transfer case. Instead they instructed me on the proper way to shift to 4 Lo. Apparently my concerns where due to operator error. Not only did they save me a ton of money. They renewed my faith in honest mechanics. Thank guys!

While on a rode trip from CA we experienced transmission trouble. Matt at Thurston Co Trans told us to get our 2017 Suburban to his shop first thing the next day and their mechanic, Larry, would take a look. Larry gave us the bad news that we needed a new transmission. Understanding we were on vacation, Larry prioritized our vehicle, worked his magic, and rebuilt our transmission. He got us back on the road in a little over 24 hours! We were thrilled. The Suburban made it back to CA no problems. We paid with a cashiers check to avoid the 3.5% credit card fee. Can't say enough about these two great guys. We appreciate the lifetime warranty and are planning a trip back to WA for the annual service.

Took my daughter‘s Dodge ram in for a clutch. The previous shop had put a clutch in they “assumed” was compatible because the OEM part was showing as discontinued. They took the time to find the exact OEM clutch and fix the problem correctly at a reasonable price. We are really happy and thankful they took the time to investigate the problem and get us the right part instead of just throwing something in there and sending us off. For a young girl spending her hard earned money we couldn’t of asked for more.

Couldn’t be more happier with how Matt and Larry got my truck up and running. Larry’s ability to R and R the transmission and get it rebuilt in a day and half was incredible. Matt’s ability to communicate what the problems with the transmission and what was required to fix it was instrumental. Plus you can not beat the lifetime warranty on their work.

Some things are worth having the best professionals fix, and automatic transmissions definitely require special skills. Quite frankly, when it comes to doing transmissions right, Larry Collins does not mess around, and Thurston County Transmissions is therefore one of the best in the business. When my purpose-built FJ Cruiser transmission finally succumbed to some self-inflicted damage from an unrelated issue, and years of hard miles ... eventually deciding that going forward was no longer an option ... finding a top-quality shop in the area I had recently relocated too was the first part of the problem. But I was rewarded by asking around, doing some research, talking with Matt on the phone about options, costs and challenges, and then being willing to get the vehicle in to TCT. Matt kept me informed every step of the way, updating me on progress and overall costs, which I really appreciated. Larry re-built the transmission as good as (or better than) new, and after a couple thousand miles of mixed use driving, my own testing and some mid-level off-roading, I am pretty sure this will not be a problem again. And that was the point. I wanted the transmission fixed right. The first time. My FJ has two jobs. One is to get me out there. The other is to get me home. TCT had one job ... to get it fixed ... and they did that perfectly. They were very fair for the level of repair I needed, and very professional through and through. My highest recommendation, for sure. Thanks again guys!!
