1st when I called for an estimate was told they would get back to me in 15 minutes.... they never did and I had to call the next day 2nd my Tuesday appointment was bumped as they were busy finishing up repairs from the previous day... ok understandable 3rd they got my car on the lift and said they couldn't complete the job in a day which they thought they could AND couldn't start the repair because they were too busy the following day to finish it. So in conclusion... no follow up. I was bumped twice when I had an appointment for other peoples repair. I understand that things happen but I felt like I was was always the one being pushed back and when I tried to make concessions they did not reciprocate. I will be finding another mechanic. I don't need to be a priority but do need my appointments honored.

Yet to have actual service but got good phone advice from Rich re our 1992 Lexus SC400 power steering issue. First, he was forthright about not handling transmissions (on Lexus, at least.) Second, rather than the $2100+ "replace pump, hoses, everything" approach of the local dealer (A-1 Toyota) he indicated they'd have to look for the simplest (i.e. cheapest) fix FIRST, e.g., gaskets & O-rings THEN hoses & fittings THEN pump. Really genuine professional mechanics.

Rich was very patient and professional, he took his time to explain in detail what issues he found with my car's cylinders and explained in terms I understood unlike most other places that rush through explanations with extremely technical terms I don't really understand as I'm not car-savvy. Trustworthy mechanics. I’ve always worked on my own vehicles but now I’m too busy to do so. I’ve gone to Tripp’s half a dozen times or more since moving to New Haven. — These guys are genuine and will help get you the best deal they can. Wish there were more shops like this still around!

This is a small family owned business. This is not a shop where you can expect to walk in and have you car serviced and returned to you same day. However, Rich and Anthony are kind and honest and super professional and most importantly AFFORDABLE. My recommendation would be to schedule your appointments in advance and make alternate transportation plans. It's worth it!

This place is seriously the best. As someone with not a lot of (good) experience with shops, rich is fantastic. I know that I won’t get screwed over, he’s honest and tells you straight up what needs to get done and what could wait if you’re short on funds (like most of us.) and it’s affordable! I got a quote elsewhere for hundreds of $ more than what Tripps charged me. I always recommend them to whoever needs work done.

I DO NOT recommend! Dan was very pleasant. Rich on the other hand was very rude. He told me he would assess my car and call me back, hours went by and I had to call him. A part was needed for my car which he couldn't find ( I had to call around on my own to find the part which at first I was responsible to pick up). Every interaction with Rich he came across very rude as if I was bothering him because I had questions. I was 2 seconds away from going back to get my car and bring it some where else. He is NOT the only mechanic in the New Haven area. I understand he could have been busy but customer service is just that customer service. I've used him countless times in the past when I lived here in Connecticut so that is why I went back to him. When people are spending their hard earned money at your establishment it is a good idea to at least PRETEND you want their business. I suggest you go somewhere else and get the same work done with a mechanic who will at least value your business. I WILL NEVER GO BACK! **Service was rendered December 2017**

Rich is the best. He is very patient and always takes time to explain what issues my car is having. Instead of trying to make money off of anything(especially as a woman), he always gives an honest opinion and leaves it up to me to make the final decision. He even once took my car for a drive(with me) at 7:30 AM and explained what was happening as he was driving. I appreciated that he fit me in before work when he didn't have to! He is always flexible. I will not go anywhere else!

Nothing like the peace of mind of knowing a good mechanic, these guys are that for me. Well explained procedure to get your car running, with transparent and fair pricing. The only problem is that for these good reasons they are busy. So call before showing up, it's better to have an honest mechanic tell you to come back later, than learning that your car has been untouched for days at the less scrupulous shops.
