These guys have taken car of our last three Volvos and have always taken good care of us. They're very friendly and if you need a pre-purchase inspection they know everything to look for. They also are great for getting your Volvo checked up on. Super quick service, they guarenteed all of their work and parts, and they're super communicative. They tend to get super busy, so you sometimes have to try more than once to get your call answered, but that's not really their fault.

Vol-Tech rocks! Earlier today someone pointed out I had a busted headlight, so I stopped by Vol-Tech on the way home from work. Man...these guys are awesome! They replaced the bulb and hooked me up with a new cover (which was missing) basically for free. Can’t recommend them enough. Will definitely be coming back next time I need a fix.

I brought my 1988 Volvo 245 the other week. I asked them to see about fixing the A/C (which I knew was a long shot). They called me the same evening with a laundry list of fixes which I was happy to hear about at first. When I asked for an estimate they said they'd get it to me the next day. I didn't hear from them so I called them that afternoon thinking maybe I had agreed to call them but forgot. They picked up and said they were with a customer but would call me by the end of the day with the estimate (this was Thursday). I didn't hear from them that evening, nor did I hear from them on Friday. Monday came and went and I didn't hear from them so I called them Tuesday only to reach an answering machine. EVENTUALLY they called me back and said "looks like we've been playing phone tag"...Ha. Okay. Then comes the estimate. He starts off by telling me I need to replace the back hatches on my car (it's a wagon). I told him I wasn't interested in nit picking the car and from the sound of his initial list, there were more immediate safety fixes that I'd like to focus on. He told me I needed an oil change - I had an oil change the week before - the shop DID forget to put a sticker on the windshield but I feel like he could've checked the oil and figured out things were okay but what do I know? Then the real list of fixes start...the estimate totaled to over $2,100 and this was not including the initial thing I was curious about (the A/C). I wrote down everything that needed to be fixed along with his quotes. Something seemed off and I went ahead and researched a few things on my own. I immediately found discrepancies but of course, I'm not a mechanic and we've all gone on WebMD when we've been sick and come to the conclusion that we indeed must have a brain tumor so again, what do I know? Anywho, I call him back up and I tell him that I'd like to pick up the car instead. I felt in my gut (after being ignored for almost a week and then lied to about a game of phone tag) that this was not the mechanic for me. He seemed surprised and told me that my ball joint was extremely dangerous and there was a high likely hood that if I drove it, it would brake and my car would slam into the ground. I told him I'd take my chances and drive slow. I know ball joints can indeed be dangerous. In the end, I took my car to another Volvo shop. I gave them the list of fixes and they checked them over and addressed everything. They laughed and told me yes, the ball joint needed to be replaced along with a few small things and my total bill would be a whopping $220...not $2k. Moral of the story, if you're feeling uneasy about this place, trust your gut and get a second opinion. I give them 2 stars because I feel bad they wrote up an estimate without getting any money from me but I feel justified because I truly feel they tried to screw me over. :(

Vol-Tech is excellent! They've been nothing but honest with all of their assessments and work, and they stand by the work they do. The tech who was at the front desk when we came in a while back even addressed my wife as much as myself when talking about the work, which is rare in a lot of shops. We will keep taking our 2005 S40 T5 AWD here for the foreseeable future!

This is a busy shop, but once your car is in there, it won't take very long to be finished! We dropped our little yeti ('01 V70XC) off on Monday morning, and it was done after 5pm on Tuesday. We live pretty far away, but no one in the three towns we drive through to get there do Volvo's. I read a lot of reviews for Jim Fischer, Swede One, and Volvo's Only, and none of them had consistently good reviews like Vol-Tech. When we came in for the drop-off, the owner was in and out of the office (we just got the car, so we had more than a few concerns), and he would comment on things I was saying in a helpful way. Everyone we encountered there, Martin especially, was extremely friendly and helpful. Truly one of the best encounters with mechanics I have ever had, and if you have a Volvo, I highly recommend them. One of their long-time customers was in the office and I chatted him up while Martin was on the phone, and he said they are the best! Also? We paid less than they quoted us. That's just good business. We will be back, though hopefully not *too* soon!

We just bought a Volvo 850 turbo and I was in need of parts. After reading the other reviews I thought I would try and buy my parts there. Although I was doing the work myself, the guys went above and beyond. Chris offered to give the car a once over for me. I have never experienced anything like this from another mechanic shop. They have gained my trust and business!

I attempted to have my vehicle repaired.. Gave specific instructions on what needed to be done.. Though the issue wasn't fixed in its entirety..I took my car back in a week later for the ENGINE OIL PRESSURE LOW message and they didn’t do anything about it.. Apparently the mechanic that was “fixing” my PCV system needed to remove the oil pan to complete the repair, he used black silicone RTV instead of anaerobic sealer and it traveled into oil passages. The other call I got from them was to replace the radiator but it failed a short time internally and released coolant into my transmission and caused that to fail. This is my 2004 S60R that I love and care for..

Did they fix the brakes? Yes, they did because it was easy. Did they diagnose the car months later after an accident? No, they nonchalantly admitted that their computer could not be connected to my car and declined to investigate it further, after keeping the car for 3 full weeks. They are lazy. Other mechanics charge less and do more.

I brought my '06 V70R in to repair a blown head gasket. Vol-Tech found a cracked cylinder wall as well. I had also brought several parts to install that I had on hand. Vol-Tech had no issue with installing additional parts I brought in with the car. Vol-Tech allowed me to source a replacement engine and have it delivered to them. The removal of the damaged engine and installation of the replacement was done with excellent craftsmanship. Including refitting and partial rebuilding of replacement engine. Additionally Vol-Tech even sent the intake manifold out for powder coating! Who does that!? No one is the answer. Wow all details were covered. Wiring, hoses, routing, mechanical, accessories, securing... Excellent installation. Excellent Customer Service. There were a lot of moving parts/logistics to complete this job. Vol-Tech completed this project with attention to detail and Customer Service. Love the work they did for me!

The guys at Vol-Tech are true professionals. They know Volvo's inside out. I had my BLIS and CTA and middle entertainment module go out in my car, they fixed it for me in a couple of days. If you got a Volvo that needs work, give them a call!

Hands down the best Volvo shop in the Portland metro area. The guys here do incredible work on Volvos. They seem to have a library of knowledge on every component of every Volvo that passes through here. They’re very thorough, they get maintenance done incredibly quickly, and more often than not they’re able to pencil you in on short notice. Super friendly and welcoming environment, and they always have a smile on their faces. Their prices are very fair and they don’t try to upsell you on unnecessary work. One of the few mechanic shops I leave actually feeling good about the experiences I have. Can’t recommend enough.

Top Notch! Brought in a 1999 V70R after purchasing from an auction. The guys at Vol-Tech did a front to back post purchase inspection. They recommended critical work and others that was not pressing. Mechanic called me and advised me what exactly they were going to do. Car is working like it was driven right out of a dealer. They even through in some extra work at no charge. Very impressed with this shop and their integrity. They have gotten another loyal customer.

Weird experience here. They took a part off my car that had nothing do with the repairs I brought it in for. I noticed and called them. They nonchalantly acknowledged that they did this. I said I wanted my original part back- they had replaced it with something inferior and never mentioned it. I went in and got my part. Martin was rude. Another time a few months back I asked them to check my brakes cuz they felt warn. They said they were fine. Today Im at Les Schwab getting new rotors cuz I wore through the pads. Thanks for costing me money unnecessarily, Voltech.

If you have a Volvo, especially an older model, these are the people who can take care of any weirdness your car may exhibit. They’ve been great helping our family with my kid’s vintage 240 wagon. It’s not cheap, because good mechanics are not cheap, but their prices are in line with other auto shops and they prioritize what really needs doing asap vs. what can wait for another day. It may take a week or two to get your car in when you call because they have a lot of clients, but you get total attention when they’re working on your car.

Shady shop run by shady people. After my recent experience I would not take my car here again or ever recommend anyone else too either. I came in to have the brake booster replaced in my 2001 Volvo s60 after the old one blew. After the install I was called and informed my car was having misfire issues due too it receiving the improper fuel mixture saying they scanned it and codes were popping up for both the fuel trims and breather box. I was quoted $1200 for this job which is waaaaay to much so I decided to take it to another local mechanic a family friend of mine recommended. Within an hour he texted me back with picture proof these codes did not exist. My car was reciving the improper fuel mixture because they installed the brake booster very shodily. My fuel trims were way out of wack due too a engine vaccume leak. After inspecting the car the leak was caused by a pressure sensor left disconnected from the brake booster causing the o ring to get sucked into the booster throwing the fuel trims off. A new seal was installed and the sensor was connected properly and what do ya know everything runs fine now and the check engine light is gone. Stay far away from this place or you could end up spending $1200 on parts and labor you don't need just to have the issue your experiencing not be fixed.

I do not recommend going here. They completely ripped me off. They charged much more for what the parts actually cost by like $200, and when I asked them why there’s such a big price difference between the parts from a reputable source online versus what they’re charging, they didn’t answer the question, got defensive, told me I could look somewhere else (when my car was already there) and hung up. I said I might see what prices are like other places and they said they would change the diagnosis fee from $80 to $160. They also still charged the diagnosis fee after I decided to get the work done with them and charged $368 dollars for less than 2 hours of labor. So just a warning that they might rip you off. Now I need more work done on my car and will not be going back here because it was such a bad experience!

What a fantastic group of folks. I called in to see about getting my 2010 XC90 in for service before a cross-country trip. The guys were able to get me on the schedule the next week. I had a whole laundry list of things I wanted done/checked ot. They did shocks, struts and allingnment. They replaced the AC pump and recharged the system. Radiator flush and fill. They were able to diagnose a parasitic battery drain and fix it along with a few other things. They guys are fantastic communicators. They kept me updated every step of the way. These guys are real Volvo enthusiasts, and it shows. This is the kind of old school service I'm accustomed to growing up in the Midwest. 10/10 would highly recommend to anyone who values quality service and knowledge mechanics that actually drive the same vehicles they service.

My XC70 was in limp mode. They apparently used a diagnostic tool, because the cover for the outlet was hanging open, but somehow still misdiagnosed a faulty throttle body as a faulty timing belt, which, by their estimate, would have put me $2600 over not even solving the problem. Then they offered to buy my car for $1000. I was upset and left. Don't trust a mechanic that offers to buy your car. Now they have skin in the game. How do you know they're not going to sabotage it to get you to sell? Previously, they had removed an expensive addition from my car in order to get to the battery, and then weren't even going to give it back to me until I asked. Is that normal? Do you need to ask for your own property back? They definitely charged me for the labor to remove it. In fact, I'm glad I didn't tell them up front that I wanted it back, because maybe they wouldn't have been so careful. This was all five years ago. I was a brand new driver then, and I've learned a lot more about the care and upkeep of my car. She's running just fine now. I go to Jim Fisher or TVG. Also? don't trust a mechanic with long fingernails.

Awful experience; it all started when I asked a friend who previously worked at a Volvo shop to replace the suspension on my XC70: all new shocks, coils, hardware, etc. He installed it but the front end had a bad clunking noise on both driver and passenger side. I took it to Voltec to get it checked out, and get rid of the clunking noise, which I very specifically asked for. They said they'd look and let me know what they find and how much it will cost in parts and labor. I had a hard time getting a hold of them, but when I did, they said a bolt was incorrectly installed, and some mounting bolts were missing, and noticed the oil plug was stripped and siezed. Parts, labor, and alignment $605. When they finished, Martin called and said I could pick it up, and I specifically asked him if the clunking was gone, and he said yes. But when I picked it up, Elliott, the tech, said there was still a quiet clunk on the drivers side. I thought I'd at least drive it and see, for myself, and to my disappointment, both sides were clunking loudly. This was quite frustrating as it meant I'd have to get it fixed again, and aligned again, so I paid $120 alignment for nothing; all because they were not communicating on their end, and actually misled me. I gave it back to them, and Martin said they'd go deeper to find the problem. He said he'd call the next day to let me know. He did not call and no one picked up the whole day. When I got a hold of them the next day, I was told that there was a bad control arm, and the driver side strut was not properly assembled. Martin explained the parts I'd need and the cost of labor, and I gave them the green light. Another $352. When I got my car back, there was no more noise, but as the day went on, it developed a weird issue: when I accelerate, the wheel yanked right, but the car went left, and when I decelerated suddenly, it would do the opposite. At highway speeds, it was very dangerous and I had a hard time controlling the car. It was the weekend though, so all I could do was wait until Monday to call Voltec. However on Sunday, I needed to make a short 10min hop to work, and while driving the passenger side felt like it collapsed and the tires began grinding against the wheel well plastic. When I looked underneath, THE BOLT TO THE CONTROL ARM WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY OUT. I went to Voltec the next day, and I described my problem. I asked if they had removed and looked at the passenger control arm, Martin said no. Then I showed him the photo. Everyone got quiet and tense. They said they'd send someone right away to fix it. Two guys came out and it seemed like they got the bolt in, but they needed to take it back to the shop. The next day, I got my car back...and now the driver side was clunking again. I almost turned around but I decided they weren't worth my time. After all that, they left me with a broken car. I have no problem if they couldn't find the problem and needed more time and money. But they never said this; instead they misled me the first time and screwed up big time the second time. All I wanted was to get rid of the noise, and if that means trying different things, and paying more for parts and labor, that's fine with me. But no one said anything. I was given a screwed up car 3 times, and no one said 'hold on, we still haven't found the problem, we need to look at other options and possibilities.' They just gave back shoddy work and said 'good to go!' I would've never posted this review, but for a company that is exclusively recommend by IPD and charges $160/hour, I cannot believe how unprofessional they are. I'm not saying the $960 wasn't worth it, but they never fixed the issue I was having and didn't dig deeper; just kept giving back a broken car with zero clarity or communication.
