I have a VW Passat that has been looked at by multiple shops (even a dealership) for issues with the transmission not shifting in lower gears. Each time they would say they didn’t see an issue and to let them know if I continued to experience the same issue. As this issue continued I called multiple other transmission shops ( that had been recommended to me) all of which didn’t work on VW’s. So I did a google search and had totally forgotten about AAMCO. Google told me that the closest AAMCO was in Olathe. So I called and got ahold of a young lady named Emily. She told me that not only did they work on VW’s, but I could bring it by the same day and they would get it looked at. When I arrived she was very friendly and even told me that the warranty company I had could be a pain, but she would work with them when they found the problem. The issue was diagnosed within 24 hours and I needed a new transmission. Emily, assured me that she had everything worked out with my warranty and that they would have it done in less than a week. Just as I was trying to figure out how long I needed to rent a car for, I got a call from Emily saying the car was done. I was so please that Emily did what I have always tried to do under promise and over deliver. The experience I had with AAMCO of Olathe, KS was one that I would recommend to anyone needing work done on their car. I am in the customer service business myself and so I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Emily and her team provided EXCELLENT customer service.

Best first experience ever! I was referred to this mechanic shop by someone who pays cash for junk cars. My car was at another mechanic shop that wanted to charge me almost $800 to repair the issue to make it run again. I contacted this shop and they said they were willing to look over the car for free since they could not make a definite diagnosis from the notes I sent from other dealership to help me out and can probably fix it for less and also offer financing. I had my car towed to their shop and they looked over EVERYTHING to tell me if it was worth fixing the car or just junking it seeing as I was not going to get much for it in good shape anyways. They were able to fix the original radiator issue for a couple hundred dollars cheaper than the other place was going to charge me and then they also told me everything else that was needing to be fixed or repaired soon and how much it would cost. These people have been very helpful and understanding because it was a hot mess to get the car there in the first place (thanks to a towing company from my insurance and other mechanic shop) and very patient. I decided to junk the car and am buying a new one and will be bringing it to this shop to have everything looked over after driving off the lot and from now on this place will be our go to mechanics. I am glad I was referred to them. They gave me their time and expertise with nothing in return (well they did gain another new satisfied customer!) P.S. absolutely NO attitude from any of the staff whatsoever either.

Was dealing with a transmission fluid leak on my 2002 Lexus IS300. My mechanic referred me to a transmission shop that did not want to work on it. Said car was too old. What??? So I contacted another popular chain transmission shop. Same story. Then an ex- coworker recommended AAMCO in Olathe as he had a great experience when he was dealing with a transmission issue. So I contacted John at AAMCO in Olathe and he never hesitated about working on my transmission….diagnosed it as leaky seal or gasket. Made the repair with a quick turnaround and no more leaks. Very satisfied. John was great to work with. Would highly recommend

Have a Dodge Durango that big o tires in South Olathe said needed a new front sway bar. Had Bailey exhaust repair my exhaust but didn’t fix it and Anderson automotive quote me $1700 for a $450 job. And Christian Bros quoted me $300 for an o2 replacement and charged me $550. These guys said my sway bar was fine. That’s unheard of. They tightened up the exhaust and inspected the rest of the vehicle. Didn’t charge me anything. I’m going back!! Super nice. Follows up and wants to be known as honest.

I called these guys by phone to ask them to get a price on a transmission fluid change for my vehicle. The first question instead of attempting to get a price for me was why do you think you need a transmission fluid change? Look my tranny isn't bad, but was due for a transmission change. Why does it always have to be about a sale instead of just getting a price for a customer?

I went here to get my car looked at because it was sputtering when I would accelerate. Typically I take it to a friend’s husband but he wasn’t available and I was pretty worried and I just assumed it was the transmission. They look at it and just instantly said “yep the transmission is bad you need a new one” I was not committing to anything since my car was still drivable and I wanted a second opinion. While I was waiting for a quote on a new transmission, Dustin called his supervisor to help find a “reasonably” priced transmission. While on the phone I heard him say to his supervisor on the phone “how can I incentivize this” in that moment i realized it was less about making sure I got my car fixed and more about a sale for aamco. Towards the end he stepped out of the room I can only assume he was talking to his boss about how he can make this sale because I was not purchasing the transmission that day, he came back in and asked if I had any intention of driving it and I said yes he said “I recommend not doing that, the torque converter will overheat and you’ll break down” Anyways, it’s not the transmission it’s the engine misfiring and there is nothing wrong with the torque converter. If you take it here I highly recommend you at least get a second opinion. I really felt like they were trying to taken advantage of me here and I can only assume it’s because I went by myself and didn’t have a man with me.

Don’t take your car there. They’ll give you a diagnosis totally different just to charge you thousands of dollars and if you want to apply the warranty will make you fight hard for it. It took me almost a month to make them accept the warranty even with another car shop diagnostic with pictures as evidence and then a month to have my car back, so 2 months for something that should have take them 3-4 days and still had to comeback another 4 times for issues related to that fix because the mechanic was just careless or incompetent and without being that enough, I’m still fighting to get the paperwork from those repairs, they just keep telling me they will send it and still a month after and I don’t have it.

I just want to say that I love AAMCO and I love recommending people to AAMCO as well, however you are on the brink of losing a customer who loves the services there and who recommends the place to others (I told a co-worker of mine about the place and he made an appointment this Saturday 12/21). This is because of Aaron or Erin the service writer for the Olathe location. On 12/19 I had an appointment for a 2016 Infiniti QX60, the appointment was for a free diagnostic check on things that were wrong with the vehicle. After the diagnostic was completed I was told by Aaron that the mechanics said there was metal shavings in the transmission fluid. However, I took it to another mechanic right after that because I wanted to second opinion upon doing so there was no transmission fluid dipstick to be found. How can you tell me there were metal shavings in the transmission fluid if there was no way to check the transmission fluid? There was also no fluid even close to the top of where the dipstick should be so there wasn't one even when they checked the transmission fluid. Following this I asked if I could get a quote for the cost that he was stating was wrong with the vehicle his response was somewhere along the lines "I'm not going to do that unless you're actually going through with the repairs because we already did this before." The backstory on that is I went up there a week or two ago with a different vehicle that I was prospecting to buy but it had too many problems so I decided not to purchase it. This Infiniti was now a vehicle I owned and he is telling me he can't quote me unless I agreed to getting the repairs. Have you ever gone to another dealership? You pay the diagnostic fee and then they tell you the pricing of how much all of those repairs would cost and then you decide if you want to do it. You don't agree to repairs that you don't even know how much it's going to cost! Why even have free diagnostic checks if you're not going to give quotes after the fact? After I sat there for a second I was like well can you give me an idea of how much they would cost and he quoted $6k - $7k for the transmission replacement not through the computer just his guestimation. I don't appreciate the inaccuracy and the laziness because that's what it felt like to me because he didn't want to type up all the numbers if I'm not willing to "get the work done". Again this is disappointing because I am a fan of AAMCO considering I have done previous work with them at a different location and it was a job well done and they fixed my vehicle. With that being said I will no longer go to the Olathe location even though that is the closest one to me. Now I will just find something local who knows how many other customers you lost with having Aaron as a service writer. I would also like to add how bad the cleanliness of that place is in the lobby area, I can understand a little bit of dirt because it's mechanic shop it's not going to be pristine. For example, the bathroom doesn't even have soap and the sink doesn't work at all. Also the toilet always has pee drippings and looks like nobody cleans it all day. It looked just like it did two weeks ago or whenever I showed up there for that previous appointment and it's honestly disgusting. It's a lobby's dirty okay but at least have a clean bathroom with working water and soap.

I’m giving it one star because I made the mistake of taking the “$600 gamble” that Jim recommended he was 95-99% sure would fix our issue. Was quoted different prices and the end price was much higher than the original. Took it to certified and the GM offered to cut my price from $6800 to $4800. It’s crazy to throw out that kind of percentage and then charge me full price when you’re wrong. Felt like I got scammed

Needed a transmission replacement on my 2016 Subaru Outback (144K miles). AAMCO employee Heath provided professional and friendly service and AAMCO replaced my transmission for a great price. Heather also provided outstanding service and answered all my finance and warranty questions regarding the repair. I was also asked to bring my car back in 10 days for a check to make sure my replacement transmission was working properly. Im definitely bringing my car back to AAMCO Olathe for all car repairs and maintenance. Great service, prices, repair work!!!

Had a really great experience with this AAMCO. they were super honest and transparent about what was going on with my car, which I really appreciated since it can be hard to find a place you actually trust. Staff were helpful and made the whole process way less stressful. They explained everything clearly, kept me updated, and made sure I understood what was going on every step of the way. Their communication was on point. Definitely a place I’ll be going back to if I ever need more work done.

After the Toyota dealership said I definitely needed a new transmission, and quoted me 8K, I went to Aamco. He recommended a full flushing first, (less than $500) as that may fix the problem. Sure enough, it's been over a week and it still runs great.

I can’t say enough good things about this shop and Jim. We have had both of our trucks in with them and not only did they fix them in a timely manner, but they literally saved us thousands of dollars. We were given estimates for work from another shop that Jim was able to fix for a quarter of the price. He is completely honest about what needs to be done and when he can get to it. We won’t ever take our cars or trucks anywhere else.
