Acadiana Transmission kept my truck for approximately a month. I kept calling to ask what's the status. Their response was the mechanic is Road testing another vehicle and they'll get back with me. Well they never called once to let me know what they were doing or if they we're able to fixed the problem. Incomplete,~ I went to get my truck

We were visiting New Iberia from California when we heard a loud, rattling/scraping sound under the car near the wheel just as we pulled into the dirt parking lot of Zoosiana. We feared there was something wrong with the breaks. Upon the recommendation of AAA, we had the car towed to Acadiana. They told us they may not get a chance to look at the car until close to closing time. We sat in the waiting room and about 30 minutes later we were informed that they were able to squeeze us in for a look on the rack. Within minutes the smiling mechanic came in holding a piece of pea gravel and told us that he had found the source of the noise. The best part is that they charged us nothing for their time and trouble. We found the "Southern Hospitality" alive and well at Acadiana. Thanks for the quick and superb service!

This facility recently worked on my vehicle. To be specific, they replaced the wiring harness, and I believe a sensor having to do with the camshaft. They had my only family vehicle from October 11th to around November the 3rd. During this period I called about 4 times for updates, as they never called to let me know what was going on. Every single time I called they were rude and condescending and totally unprofessional. This is probably my biggest issue. Lack of communication and rudeness is something I think people should know about before they decide to bring their car here. Aside from that, even though my van was there for nearly a month, it wouldn't start the day I drove it home from their shop. It starts on the 2nd or 3rd try, so at least there's that. My radio no longer has any power at all, and I'll have to find someone else to wire it back in, as I'm guessing they didn't bother at all. There was a small piece of clear tape on the side of my van that was holding some peeling paint from falling off and when I picked up the van there was a square foot patch of missing paint where the tape had been. I don't think I'll be bringing my vehicle back here one way or the other as I'm afraid I'll be treated like an inconvenience once again. I know that electrical work can be tricky and you don't always get it right the first try, but I don't think I'll be giving them a second chance. Thanks for reading.

I was in Lafayette yesterday, from Lake Charles, and had to have my van looked at because of a check engine light and a squealing belt. I googled the closest auto shop to where I was and found Acadiana Transmission. Thank God I did! I like to give my $ to locals, and these guys were the friendliest, most accommodating people I could have met! Even the mechanic offered me coffee a couple of times. Every person in the place was nice and friendly and concerned about my comfort and not letting me get stuck on the interstate home. That's a big deal to a girl traveling alone. I felt at home there for the 4 hours I was there while they located parts and fixed the problem. The guy behind the counter was very thorough explaining and quoting my repairs and charges. It ended up costing $100 less than the original quote! How many times does THAT happen! If I need car repairs in the future, I would be tempted to tow it to Lafayette to Acadiana Transmission for repairs if I had the extra money to spend!! haha!! This is a great place to do business with. I prayed to God before I googled, to bring me to a place that would fix my car and not rip me off, I'm unemployed right now and am low on funds... God put me in the right place. Would highly recommend!!

I had Acadiana Transmission rebuild my transmission, replace some gaskets, and handle a few other minor repairs. Initially, there were a few problems after my vehicle was "repaired" that required me to go back to their shop a couple of times. They handled it all very well, didn't charge for making it right, and put me in a rental car until the issues were resolved. I will be doing business with Acadiana Transmission again. Joe is a stern but fair man and does good work.

I brought my Mustang to these guys when my clutch was going out and was having problems with gear changes. TV repairs were done in a very timely manner and compared to roughly the same work getting done on my last car Acadiana Transmission was way cheaper. Great quality great people definitely

I can not say how impressed I am in the way I was treated here. I brought my vehicle in because the engine oil light was coming on. A fitting on the oil pump was broken during the repair of my vehicle. The mechanic reported to the owner that he had broken it. The mechanic could have easily said my oil pump needed to be changed, I wouldn't have known any different. The owner, Joe, called me himself to apologize about the delay. Here was another chance to tell me my oil pump was bad and needed to be changed. Joe told me it was broken by his employee, therefore would not cost me a penny more. Ever heard of an honest automobile mechanic? I found one...

Acadiana Transmission earned four stars. If daily updates (even a simple text) were shot out, they would have earned the extra star. They repaired and overhaul the transmission, u-joints, carrier bearing, and balancing of both drive shafts. Think it was time. My 2005 Toyota Tacoma has 198,000 miles on it.

Where do I begin, my experience with these people were so exhausting, so I will keep it brief. Upon walking in, the establishment looks professional keeping the theme of the place consistent, with hot rod magazines that no one reads and not one hot rod in sight. I got advice from a friend unfortunately after they (Acadiana Transmission) stole my money; "Never bring your car to a auto repair shop that has a junkyard full of cars especially in the front of the establishment". For the record, everyone was extremely nice and knew how to talk to customers. But I just knew certainly they would express sarcasm once the customer leaves. I brought my car in for simple work, i.e tune up, brakes etc. Well, that turned into bringing it back and forth for months giving them ample chances to fix their screw ups, and there were many. See they warrant all their work as it relates to them getting you back in so they can conveniently find more work to charge more. I stupidly spent almost $5,000 and was almost killed by their work or the lack there of, so I decided not to return because there was always a new problem. I hope someone from there reads this, they are so lucky I didn't sue. Just remember as I type up this review of mine, the statue of limitations are still at play. With a little thought, they know exactly what I am referring to.

I dropped my vehicle off here for a transfer case repair at the end of July. Told me my transmission and differentials were fine. This took nearly a month to fix because they ordered the wrong part. Not a big deal mistakes happen. They tried charging me almost $3,000.00 for this with adding a driveshaft. I stated I had already bought a front drive shaft and would install on my own. The price went from $3,000.00 to $1602.03. A front drive shaft is not anywhere close to $1400.00 for parts anywhere online. It’s 8 bolts to install. Then I picked up my vehicle week before last and it would not shift past 2nd. This is after it was “road tested”. No one will ever know if the failure happened during that time. Then Joe Brown calls me and tells me the transmission needs to be rebuilt. I inquired about costs, and that there were modifications done to the valve body that I would like to remain intact and to not replace with a rebuild kit. He stated it would start at 5200.00+ tax. He stated that he changed out my separator plate, surfaced, and changed a vent port on the valve body that was modified by me for increased line pressure. Call for total, it is well over $6,500.00. Frustratingly paid it. Noticed my line pressure was much lower than it had been before. Noticed that it was having trouble shifting to the next gear if passed 1/2 throttle. WOT; it would hit rev limiter, go past it, and defuel, then shift into the next gear. I’m not a transmission expert, but this is not how a transmission is suppose to work. I call him and let him know the issues. He tells me it’s my tune, and that since he doesn’t see a code on his scanner it is not a transmission issue. Mind you I have had this tune running for 6 years and have had 0 issues. I then try to explain with rationale on why this could be happening. Literally every time he had a “know it all response”. Passed by this business 3 times since then and the truck was just sitting in the yard after he told me he’d start immediately working on it. I called today for an update. Tells me that I need a new tune. His “tuner buddy” he talked with told him that my programmer is junk and that the company has terrible technical support and they’re in Canada. Which in my experience with them, they have been everything but great and respond promptly to emails. He wanted to put a single 50-100HP tune. Mind you my current programmer has shift on the fly. He wrote off any idea I was trying to convey to him that it was a transmission issue, specifically the valve body. Told me they’re all the same, and that he changes many that are on the road with no issues. The mark up is insane! I asked what kind of torque converter was used, he told me precision. Couldn’t even state the characteristics of it; single, dual, or triple disc? Low, ultra low, or high stall? Well obviously they’re not all the same if mine is running sub par to the others. I’ve spent well over $15,000.00 at this shop over the years and have never had an issue until now. I will never recommend your business to anyone I know. I will never spend another penny here. You reap what you sow, and karma will come out on top. The amount of arrogance and lack of humility Joe showed. To add insult to injury, these morons glued the trans pan and added a magnet that wasn’t even in the pan! Remedy: I changed my valve body to a Revmax billet valve body myself, and guess what? Not a single issue with shifting. Gaslight me and try and lie to my face isn’t how you do business.

Dropped off my 2018 ford over there for some brake maintenance. They analyzed the situation and explained exactly what was happening with my damaged calipers the same day. Mr. Colin at the front desk was a great and nice guy. After my numerous back to back aggravating calls I have made to him, he never shyed away to help with kindness and correct information. Also seemed very very busy so their service time on my vehicle was better than expected which shows that they indeed put in hard work.

I can’t say enough positive things about this place. I dropped my vehicle off, they had it diagnosed very quickly. I needed my transmission rebuilt and they had it done and back assembled within a week. It was quick and wonderful service. Everyone was very helpful from the moment i dropped it off. Not to mention, nobody could beat their warranty that they offered. It’s well worth my drive from Baton Rouge, and if we need anymore future repairs, they’ll be our go to place. Again, thank you Acadiana transmission for making this experience the BEST.

5 stars! Let me start by saying I had to call all around town to find a shop that would work on a manual transmission. They came thru! My throw out bearings were in bad shape. They were busy so they kept my car for a lil over a month, but let me tell you, she's running right now, sha! Joe is that man! I feel comfortable behind the wheel and I owe it to Joe. And I bugged these people once a week and they were never rude. Always polite and informative. They have my future business for sure! Thank yall so much!

I live out of town and my transmission went out in my daughter’s car. After going to the dealership I called Joe and he not only saved me $2,500 dollars but repaired it and gave me a better warranty than the dealership! I’ve since gone back and got the same quality work at a fair price and will continue to do business with Joe and his amazing team. They are top notch professionals!

First off he gave me a price to rebuild the motor and he told me that he had to replace the motor and said that it would be 3-5 months to replace motor then 1 year and 2 months later he said that it has went up from original price 2,800.00 to 3,600.00 and now it’s 6,800.00 dollars so I had to take him to court and won I just owed him the 3,600.00 minuse the deposit of 1,500.00 which left 1,100.00 and had to be ready for October so I went paid balance and picked up the truck and 6 months later I’m having to change spark plugs and coil packs and the injectors because the truck is not running properly right now also I don’t think he charged the motor either

Acadiana Transmission is the most professional, kindest, hard working family business I ever had the privilege of dealing with. The knowledge of mechanics that Joe the owner has is unsurpassed by any person or mechanic Ive ever met in my 65 years of life’s experiences. I trust their honesty and sincere efforts to diagnose, repair and maintain a fair and just price. I’ve had multiple vehicles since Ive lived in Lafayette and all went to Acadiana Transmissions when I had any problems and always have been treated with respect and courtesy. This Business is top notch!!

I was 2 hours away from home pulling my camper as a single woman with 2 dogs and my transmission goes out. Thank God I was only 5 mi away and my vehicle was able to be towed to this shop. I was able to finish getting to my camping place because I was brought another vehicle by a family member. These folks rebuilt my transmission with a warranty at what I researched to find out was a very reasonable rate. I was able to go camping for a week and on my way back through town pick up my Tahoe. So what started out as a horrible trip, turned out not to be quite as terrible as I was thinking it would be. Thank y'all so much!

They had my car for two months for a major engine repair and nothing was put back together correctly. I spent $5000 on the repairs and expected my car to work better than ever, instead I’ve been to two more repair shops and need an additional $2000 worth of repairs. I’ve contacted Joe on multiple occasions asking about the warranty and I just get lies and excuses, NO ACCOUNTABILITY! If you need me I’ll be in Small Claims Court.

These negative reviews look so ridicules. Go hate the REAL bad guys! I have had the complete opposite experience, so.... I had brought my older, very high-milage '10 Fusion to Joe and family to have the transmission rebuilt, fluid was like burnt peanut butter, trashed! lol. What I paid is not anybody's GD business, when a skilled and trained professional performs life saving repair on a vehicle that would otherwise be blown to pieces, YOU PAY! Ford transmissions in the fusions are TRASH to begin with, his total rebuild had this car smoother and running better than ever- They even honored a warranty that was long expired for a minor issue that actually was related to some other non-sensical ford thing that we just have to live with, rather than any prior work. Pretty amazing people as far as I am concerned. 285,347miles and still rockin! Thanks Guys! David
