We use Zach for all of our commercial and personal vehicle repairs, tires, oil changes, alignments...etc. Zach and Otto are amazing and frankly are a godsend when it comes to operating our business with minimal vehicle downtime. Strangely enough i look forward to taking my vehicles in because i know it will be done right and i know they will find the cause of the problem rather than curing the symptoms. We recently put some tires Zach recommended on my love’s vehicle and her minivan performed amazing during the most recent snow event! She absolutely LOVES her minivan and we all feel safer knowing the snow isn’t going to be a problem. Thanks for everything!!!

Best auto mechanic experience out there!! Zach and his team are so respectful, caring, and professional. Instead of dropping your car off to an endless line like other shops, you make an appointment and the team devotes a full day to make sure your vehicle is dialed in a timely manner. Zach took the time to explain all the repairs and made sure I understood what I was paying for, which as a young women, rarely do I receive that respect in the auto industry. I drive a Subaru Forester 2008 and it was evident how much they knew about this make and model. I live in Asheville and can say the drive is so very worth it. Can't recommend this shop enough!!

I had SO much trouble finding someone to accurately diagnose my van's troubles dolling out copious time and money that lead nowhere. Altamont Auto fixed everything the first visit! I was lucky to hear about Zach and his small crew through a co-worker. He specializes in vans, and I did a lot of work with him. He is truly a stand-up guy - not your average auto mechanic. Zach took the time to walk me through his processes, what he recommended and why. Several times Zach went above and beyond his job, showing what a good-natured human being he is. One of the best mechanics in town. Zack is my go- to guy, started going there when I lived in Arden, but still go even after moving out to Leicester, on the opposite of town from them. It's the holy trinity of honesty, reasonable prices, and friendly service. Plus they get the work done fast despite only being open 4 days a week and booked up. I don't normally leave reviews online but this place deserves it. I tell my friends and family to go here anytime they mention car problems. Trust this place with my car's life lol

Zach at Altamont Auto Specialist is hands down, one of the best mechanics I have ever worked with, along with his team. I was referred to Zach by a long time client of his and since then have gone back to him about 6 times for all of my beat up old car’s needs. He runs his business in an extremely professional and efficient manner while remaining personable, friendly and helpful. Zach is an honest mechanic who will go above and beyond to find and solve your car’s problems and to work with you on whatever it is you need. Excellent communication, fair and honest pricing, quick repairs, and above all, trust worthy! Zach has helped us out plenty of times and has gone out of his way to make sure that our cars get what they need before leaving his shop. I've taken my trusty old 2006 Hyundai Tucson here several times and each time I've been super happy with the overall service. Zach is very friendly, which is always a bonus considering some can be gruff and just want you in and out. They're VERY fair and reasonable with their services and, best of all, honest. Original review is from 4 years ago - Now I've had to drop it from 5 to 3 stars because I've tried calling several times, leaving a voicemail each time, over the last few weeks and have gotten no response/no call back. Now have to find a new place to take my car to get my issues resolved. Disappointing.

I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee that had a few issues and he was able to diagnose them quickly, called me right away to let me know what they were and how to fix them, gave me a very reasonable quote, AND fixed the car much faster than what I was expecting. I have driven used, older cars my entire life. Yes, that means no monthly car payment. It also means you will need unexpected car repairs. So finding a skilled, honest and reliable auto mechanic is essential. I am fortunate to have discovered Altamont Auto Specialist and I recommend this shop highly. I’ve been taking 3 different cars to this shop to a few years and I could not be more pleased. There has not been one problem with a repair and every job was priced fairly. The most impressive thing to me is the skill and knowledge of the owner/mechanic Zach. His understanding is broad and he works to give you excellent service without charging you a fortune. I am VERY grateful that I found out about this shop! They helped me in an emergency situation when my '96 Subaru Legacy had the front left axle go out, right before my shift at work! They worked me in between there pre-schedualled appointments, to fix my axle the very next morning! These guys have really impressed me, and do very amazing work, at a VERY economical price. I will ONLY be using these guys as my mechanic, until I move someday from the Arden, NC area!!

Altamont is hands down the best mechanic you will find in the Asheville area. Zach, Cody, and team are extremely knowledgable and fair. They will take the time to get your car fixed right, and also save you some money vs the other shops around town. Altamont has kept our old Rav4 running great over the years, at a fraction of the cost the dealership originally quoted us for repairs. Altamont rocks.
