I was referred to Ricky and Ricca by a coworker. I have been in Asheville for two years, and have been looking for a mechanic I want to continuously work with for a while. Finding a mechanic you trust is just like finding a doctor you trust. You are entrusting your life (or in this case, a vehicle/big investment) in their hands. I had an appointment scheduled for later in the week, but my car had other plans and decided it wanted to be towed a few days earlier. Not only did Ricky and Ricca roll with the punches and got my car looked at as soon as they could but they were able to diagnose what was wrong and helped me get set up with a plan to get it fixed. They are upfront about the work that needs to be done, and don't B.S. you. I'll be happily taking my car here for future service appointments. Thanks so much Ricky and Ricca!

They do great work at a fair price. This is a shop you can trust. They tell it to you straight and don't try to upsell things you don't need. They will use parts that will last, not just the cheapest parts that might not stand the test of time. Cheapest is not always the best way to go. There is a small customer lounge with Wi-Fi if you need to wait or if you live nearby, they can usually give you a ride home when you drop off your car.

It can be difficult to find a good honest place these days especially when there’s so many to choose from. I went to alternative automotive services on Leicester highway to have my brakes and rotors installed. I can read people very well and Ricky is honest and has integrity. I purchased regular rotors to have them installed and Ricky recommended drilled and slotted because I tow a trailer. My suburban is running as smooth as the day I bought it thanks to his expertise. I explained I had to be in shelby, by noon and Ricky and Ricardo had me in and out of there in what felt like no time at all. I found my new automotive repair shop!

If you’re a woman (or man!) who don’t know a lot about cars, this is your place!! Ricky was the most honest mechanic ever! He didn’t list 79 things wrong with my truck and try to upsell or pressure me on 300 things I didn’t need which was the exact opposite of what the Chevy dealership had just done. He just fixed the problem and didn’t charge me an arm and a leg! He made a horrible situation a great experience. I can’t say enough good things about him and this shop!!

People say, when you find an honest mechanic shop, you should hold onto it, and that's exactly what this shop is. Ricky, the man who runs it is a good person, he's reliable to his word, and very knowledgeable about all types of cars/trucks. They got my Honda CRV back up and running the very next day for a reasonable price (a lot less than the dealership quoted me). Highly recommended!

Ricky is 100% my go-to mechanic. So many great things going for this place! I've been to many mechanics so I know the difference. - Ricky is just the nicest guy, friendly and honest. I've got a good intuition about people's character and I was right from the start. I trust him completely. I was touched when he went out of his way to think of me and messaged me when he saw a good deal on Facebook for some almost new tires that fit my car. A lot of it is in the little things, like helping me apply glue to my door handle for free. - Really good prices. When I had a leaky oil tank, I called a few places to get a quote on just the labor of replacing a tank just to get a sense of what was normal, and mostly got estimates of $400-$700. The cheapest was around $250. Ricky replaced it for $200 in labor. I think the difference comes from not charging you more hours than something actually takes. - They use a super transparent system when it comes to inspecting and diagnosing your car. They take pictures of any issue and log it into a system that you can easily access. Ricky is very knowledgeable and explains everything in a way that you can understand, giving you all of the potential options and reasons why you might pick one over another. - If you want to replace a part with something used, they'll get a used part for you shipped free. Instead of paying $600 for a new oil tank, they ordered me a used one for $120. They made sure it was working properly and actually refused the first one they received because it wasn't good enough. - He keeps his shop clean and tools very well organized. That's a good sign to see in a professional, and shows he wants things as efficient as possible and that he takes pride in his work. Overall I highly recommend Ricky/Alternative Automotive!!

Ricky, the owner, runs the business with transparency, efficiency, expertise, and seasoned professionalism; *the integrity your looking for in auto repair is the true highlight.* My Subaru was serviced seamlessly with an unforseen drive belt setback on a busy afternoon in April, and everything about the attention and care brought to my car from start to finish was above and beyond. I was in a big pinch and these guys got me in almost immediately, got my vehicle diagnosed and fixed quickly after facilitating a tow from Fairview where my car was broken down, making it extremely easy for me by just adding it to the bill. I walked out of there spending much LESS than I had anticipated, and every person that I interacted with was extremely nice and pleasant . I would recommend 10/10 and I will absolutely be choosing this place again when I need work.

I took my car here for the first time for brake work. Ricky is an honest and knowledgeable man and happily answered my questions. He fixed my brakes for an extremely fair price and saved me money by resurfacing one set of rotors rather than replacing them (which another shop told me I'd need to do). I appreciate their transparency and the system they use where they send you a link to photos / diagnostic notes for you to see. I highly recommend this shop!

This is a safe place for getting work done. They don't try and rip you off or try to upsell things you can do without. They are super flexible about parts and have cheaper labor than most other mechanics in the area. They do their best to work with you on picking up/ dropping off vehicles. I love this shop

Rick & his staff have been working on our vehicles for a while now. They always do an excellent job!
