You have come to the right place! The only garage when you need one in San Francisco!! This is the longest review I have ever done but trust me it’s worth reading…. On Friday at 5 pm my car was overheated and got towed by AAA. I called many places and nobody would accept a towed car at this time. It was the worst time for me after 20 hour international flight and I just desperately wanted to drive back home which is 90 miles away. Out of all the worst things, Larry is the best thing happened. I stumbled on Automotive clinic by AAA website. They were busy at 530 but Larry called me back and said they open until 7 pm on Friday and Saturday so he can take my car. Turned out the thermostat was broken and I have to leave my car overnight. I had to take a zip car to drive back home and come back on Saturday to return the zipcar and take my car. They fixed it very quickly, did many test drive to make sure everything is ok and called me to get my car at 2 pm on Saturday. Unfortunately, after 5 mins on the way back, my car was overheated again and I had to drive back to Automotive clinic. Out of the blue, one fan stopped working. At that time, I told them that I cannot stay a night here (it was 6 pm again, 90 miles away from home, no car). I honestly told them that I cannot afford any fixing cost in San Francisco, I am just a trainee and back home it maybe cheaper. I asked if there is anything they can do to at least get me drive back home tonight. They did tell me it’s not safe to drive but they tried many things including wired bypass an AC fan to keep the engine cool preventing it from overheating. Eventually, nothing worked, the whole fan unit and modules stop working. This could have happened anywhere at anytime but I was so lucky it was here. Larry took his Audi from garage and washed it. He said take his car, go back home, get some sleep. They will fix my car and match the price with my home town. Then someone will drive my car back to me to make sure the car really works and swap the Audi back….. by that time I couldn’t hold my tears anymore 😭. Larry is a saint and this place is existing!!! My car was delivered in front of my house on Tuesday by Michael, who is also super nice. Larry did gave me a big discount which he didn’t have to. Also wanted to shout out to Sammy. He is really a good mechanic, explained everything to me and tolerated my zero knowledge about engines. This place is unreal (considering nowadays there are so many shady auto-shop trying to rip you off) and full of amazing staff. They are knowledgeable, efficient and really care about you. If you wonder what car I have - it’s the Ford Edge.. this car has given me lots of headaches. Stay away from it at all cost. Larry… please take care of yourself. Thank you for everything and I hope to never see you soon 😂

My car broke down off Geary and I had it towed here. It turned out to be a pretty complicated issue related to my specific car. Although the issue was out of their scope to fix and was inevitably covered by warranty from the manufacturer, automotive clinic was great with communication. They updated me and explained everything throughout the whole process. They also called up my manufacturer and specific dealerships to clarify if the problem was under warranty! I cannot attest to their skills fixing cars but I praise their dedication to their customers.

Rip off and extremely slow customer service. Took an hour to pick up my car from service. I feel misled by the positive reviews… my personal take is that this place is in decline as the owner (who is quite kind) ages. Don’t come here with expectations of value or efficiency.

Larry is one of the most professional, competent, experienced, available and considerate mechanics, I have ever seen. The time he takes explaining your car issues to make you understand is amazing! He took the time, to go for a ride with me in my car, even before it got in their shop and after they fixed the problem (which is very rare in these days). Very impressive. I had my car towed here by AAA due to a “check engine” warning on my Subaru. The staff were polite and communicated promptly. The diagnostic fee was $350, which I agreed to at the time after being told it was within a very typical range. After completing the diagnostic, they identified the issue and recommended that I take the car to the Subaru dealer for further service, so I arranged towing to the dealer myself. I couldn't be happier with my experience at the Automotive Clinic! I came in with a persistent engine rattling that I have been ignoring for weeks since car repairs are almost always pricey and I'm a bit tight in cash. Larry here ran a thorough inspection of my car, and discovered a loose timing chain component that was causing all the trouble. He explained everything clearly, gave me a fair price estimate which thankfully is still in my budget, and had the repair completed faster than I expected. My car now runs smoother than it has in months. They have such a friendly staff, honest pricing, and excellent workmanship, automotive clinic has definitely earned my trust, and I would gladly reccommend them to anyone having any type of car issue.
