Had an extremely poor experience yesterday and the day before with a battery problem on my 2007 Honda Pilot. They were good getting my vehicle in on the same day, then came the problems. I was given a quote that I signed, as well as the owner's word that I could keep the alternator and all parts replaced except for the battery. Hours later I was called and they jacked up the labor price by over $100. Even hobbyists can replace this alternator within an hour. Because I needed my vehicle back, I agreed. The work was fine, but I wanted to keep the old parts to verify that they were in fact malfunctioning, as well as to re-sell them. I came back the next day asking for the parts and the owner refused and started to get extremely aggressive. Other workers came into the small office, tried to physically intimidate me, and got in my personal space trying to physically push me out. They refused to give me my old parts, despite the verbal agreement the day before! And they were physically aggressive with me, which I don't really care about, but be prepared to defend yourself! At least the owner carries a pocket knife as well as one of his staff members. This is not how you run a legit business. Also, I felt like I was being judged as someone who could be pushed around and taken for additional money. So if you make the bad choice of using this business, make a recording of the entire interaction, be prepared to physically defend yourself, and you still may get ripped off and physically pressured out. STAR Certified Smog ✅ My awesome mechanic, Robert Kim at Action Auto referred me to Auto Shop @ Mississippi & Mariposa, where I met Harrison and the crew. Came in about 4pm today, Friday, without an appointment. I did not know the difference between a traditional smog and a STAR smog...in short, the latter requires more effort and takes more time. Action Auto only does a traditional smog. So, I met Harrison at the desk. They were busy but got me in. I observed some awesome multitasking and in about 20 minutes I was settling up and out the door. A well oiled machine and worthy of Action Auto's referral, and now mine. Great experience ... 5 stars!

I've been coming to this shop for over 3 years now with multiple cars. I've had everything from regular maintenance, breaks, timing belts, power steering, alternators, wheel bearings, ball joints, tires mounted, and more. Prices are reasonable for SF and usually a bit cheaper than others shop's quotes. The owner, Harrison, is friendly and honest. In my younger days I was into rebuilding and fixing my own cars. Now that I'm older and life is busy I don't have the time nor the space to do my own work. I've never thought these guys were ever trying to take advantage of me. They will also let you have the parts they replaced. The one thing that they didn't was the alternator and I believe that is because they pass on the recycling refund to the cost of the part. Same with the battery. Similar to if you went to AutoZone and did it yourself. Highly Recommend. But like with all things always shop around.

Blew a radiator hose and swung in here on my way home to get it re-attached so I could make it home. I called ahead but when I rolled up my minor issue was resolved immediately. The tech pointed out that the radiator connector was completely shot, and that I needed a new one. He worked quickly and was quite friendly, and his repair got me home. I typically work on my own cars (I've got a new radiator on the way to my house!), but I much appreciate when I can stop in at a quality shop to get something done properly and quickly. I'll definitely stop by here from time to time when I need something done while I'm in the city.

Very fair prices and quality work. They don't push additional service work onto you. They just let you know what's going on with your car. I got new tires put on recently, and they quoted me 4 different tires without any pressure. We discussed the options and they did the work in a couple of hours. I will take my Jeep to them as long as I live in SF.

We’re traveling from out of state and ended up with a flat as our son is being treated at UCSF. The two nicest guys helped us out so fast and fixed our flat. We desperately need our car so we are so thankful for them getting us in and out. Would recommend for any family. They were also super considerate of our son who just got out of his chemo treatment

I've come here twice now when I've gotten flat tires, and they've been fast and accommodating both times. The most recent time they were able to get the tire ordered and delivered the next morning, brought my car in around 9:30 am and everything was done at a fair price by 10:30. Everyone I've interacted with has been super helpful and friendly. They also take the little things into account, like packing the spare tire and all the tools back into the trunk, adjusting the seat, etc. Great car shop!

My experience here was great. I brought in my truck because it had the maintenance light on, and I needed to submit a smog check to the DMV. I picked it up about 3 hours later and the cost was fair. I do not feel that they overcharged me at all. Harrison met me at the front counter and explained some repairs that would be needed in the near future. They submitted the smog electronically and I noticed that my truck drives very smoothly since visiting this shop. Thank you!

My girlfriend took her minivan into the shop to get a oil change and when we did the rapidly no problems with the car. Upon leaving there was a strange rattling noise coming from the engine and when we asked the mechanic and the guy who owned the place they both refused to help us and told us to make an appointment in which we did and they still refused to help us or even acknowledge us. I'm not sure how this guy got good reviews but he definitely ripped us off and caused my girlfriend $550 in repairs

The main reason I give the shop 5 stars is because Harrison, since day 1, has been extremely patient with me asking lots of questions with my little mechanical aptitude. I needed routine car maintenance and a smog check, so I called Auto Stop and they told me I could drop by. I arrived at 9:30 am, and while they initially estimated a two-hour wait, they had everything done by 10:30 am. Much faster than expected! The total came to about $260 for my car. This covered a vehicle inspection, smog check, and oil change. Service was efficient and professional. Note: There’s a 3% surcharge for credit card payments, so consider using cash or a debit card to avoid the extra fee
