John and his crew are the very, very best. Honest, quick, and flexible. Willing to explain things, give you options, and do great work. I found Ka-Pa years ago when a tow driver recommended him and I lived nearby. I’ve moved far across the city since, but getting the good deals, great work, and solid communication at Ka-Pa has made it worth sticking with then.

They were really helpful, worked quickly, and the price was fair. Didn't attempt to upsell anything and were communicative to boot. My van was too large to get on their lifts, but they were still willing to drive it around the block with me, diagnose the problem with my tires and get it fixed same day. Can't ask much more than that! Thanks Ka-Pa!

A great shop. I first came to get my tires changed after buying a used car and all the tread was gone. I then got a nail in my tire and came to fix it. I ended up changing all my tires to a great value set of grippy tires for nearly half what I'd pay for it anywhere else. My girlfriend busted a tire and soon found herself here after I recommended it, since which this shop has been her go-to. Fair prices, honest work and quick turnaround. I hate the dealer mechanic horror stories... honest auto shops all day for me. You won't regret getting your work done here.

Probably one of the best trustful and reasonable auto shop in SF. John, especially is very much reasonable and believable mechanic I've ever seen, and their service is quick and very much reasonable price. I won't hesitate to use their service over and over again. Even thought i didn't ask, he always shows all works he has done to my car, and respectfully he explains what he exactly did, which is amazing for the customer. Suprisingly, price wise, they are very reasonable especially pretty much elsewhere asks at least 20-80 bucks more, and John never did. I really respect his business and enjoy service.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with this shop. We had a deal and a set appointment. I brought my car in as scheduled, expecting the repair to go smoothly. Instead, I was told they didn’t have the part they had confirmed yesterday would be available. They then told me they had a “compatible” part, but it was $100 more than our original agreement. I reluctantly agreed and left my car, only to get a call two hours later saying that the part they had promised that morning was also out of stock. They then tried to upsell me the original part—at double the initial price we discussed. At that point, I had enough and just picked up my car without getting anything done. This level of disorganization and bait-and-switch tactics is completely unacceptable. I won’t be coming back, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend this shop to anyone.

I have been taking my car to Ka-Pa for years and John is always incredibly helpful. He is happy to discuss trade-offs, ways to save a bit of money but keep your car safe and well-maintained, and he's even referred me to another shop when Ka-Pa wasn't the right folks to do what I needed. If you need a trustworthy and capable mechanic in SF, call Ka-Pa.

This is one of those places where you want to give 10 stars. John is the best!!! A true professional. He usually has a dozen cars lined up in front. He says he likes to figure out schedules like a puzzle, so you have to call in advance. His services are WELL worth it. I came in to diagnose a check engine light on a Honda Fit. He immediately took out the scanner to figure out what was wrong (transmission switch) and gave me an estimate. I brought it in the next day and it was done in less than two hours. And then the total cost came out LESS because of the actual work he put in. NO ONE does this. He is such an honest, hardworking guy. I'm not taking my car anywhere else!

I’ve been coming to this location to get my tires for over five years. It’s on the outskirts of San Francisco but it’s worth the drive out. The owners are super friendly and very helpful. They are trustworthy and provide you with great service. When I come for new tires they always have the best recommendations for my car. Just a heads up call ahead to schedule an appointment or to order your tires in advance so you could take your car home the same day.
