Updating: I did contact them to have my car checked again and everyone was very nice and were willing to fix the issue for free. They deglazed my brakes to see if that fixed the squeak and if not, they told me they would swap out the pads. No squeaks on my way home this evening, so I'm hopeful that solved it. I'm especially appreciative for their willingness to check out/fix any potential issues and follow up/make the job right, without making me feel its somehow my fault (as has happened with other mechanics). I needed my brakes done pretty quickly because they started grinding on my way home from work one evening about a week before Christmas. I found Benchmark and they were super close to my work and were open at convenient times. What stops me from giving 5 stars is the price, which was about $400 for only front brakes. I know the parts aren't that expensive (my dad has done them for me at about $70, however he doesn't live here so that wasn't an option), it doesn't take that long to complete a brake job, and I only got front pads and rotors (I've paid $400 in the past for pads, rotors, and calibers (and I'm pretty sure that was front and back)). I also already am hearing a slight squeak when I'm stopping. I, nor my dad, complained too much about the price because I needed it done quickly, as I commute to work and also would be traveling home for the holidays, so it just was what it was at that point. So for convenience sake, appointment availability, and niceness of the people working there, I'm content with everything, but the price (and potentially the squeak I'm already hearing) is what stops me from raving about them and giving 5 stars.

Benchmark Auto is that rare oxymoron - an honest mechanic! They’ve worked on my Nissan and my husband’s Ford for about 5-6 years now. Efficient, timely, responsive, professional and convenient. I dropped off my car and left the key in the drop-off box Sunday night. Mid-morning on Monday, I received a call from Christina letting know the problem and price. Car was ready by day's end at a fraction of what the dealer would have charged me. Highly recommend.

After hearing rave reviews from numerous coworkers, I have been here twice now. These guys are fantastic. They are always accommodating, even on a last minute notice. I brought my car here for an oil change and they ended up fixing my washer nozzles and seat adjuster free of charge which is rare for a mechanic shop. I work only 3 blocks away and they still offered me a ride. These guys are incredibly nice, work hard and I can count on them to get my car done quickly. This last time I told them I did not need it till after work but they still called me by 3pm to let me know it was finished and I could pick it up at my convenience. They have even stayed late for me before because I got off work late. Great guys, will definitely continue to use Benchmark and recommend them to anybody who wants quality work done quickly and professionally.

Great place to get a car without perfect credit. Also, they offer extended warranty on each vehicle they sell/lease to you. Lately, it has been very difficult to schedule appointments to make sure the vehicle you are buying/leasing is in good shape. Hopefully when I am able to get my vehicle checked out, everything will be alright. Will post a follow-up.

For the past 20 years we have lived in, worked in and called Raleigh our home....all of our cars have been and are still serviced by one of the finest mechanical teams anywhere at Benchmark Autoworks, Davie Street. They are responsible for rebuilding a 95 Escort which still runs and sits outside our home, along with every other car up to and including my '08 Chrysler Town and Country, running sweet and our little Nissan Sentra (which, by the way, we bought from him used), all having been well taken care of by Lou and a great team! I might add that the lady at the front desk knows as much as the others do about the car you bring to them. (She probably can identify the problem for you right there, as well). You will be treated with honestly, integrity and certainly within fair prices. If you want your car done right and pleasantly, I wouldn't recommend any other team of mechanics. I deeply appreciate when they tell me that something needs replaced and/or if lights are out or a system comes up defective on their computers.They have the finest diagnostic systems anywhere. It's amazing because they can pinpoint any problem, OR IF there is one! (I've already suspected a problem, and after test driving the car for what I indicated, they were honest enough to say there WASN'T one!) That also happened when I bought new tires and thought the car would probably need to be aligned as well, Again, Lou said there was no indication the front end needed to be aligned. Honesty and integrity. Can't beat it for home town repairs. Thanks to all of you for taking such good care of our cars, and us, all these years. I recommend them to anyone!

I can recommend this auto repair shop without reservation. Its pricing for the repair that I needed was fair, I believe, for the problems that my car had, and it got the repair done by the same afternoon on which I had brought in my car to it. In addition, the owner of the business let me apply, two days retroactively, a coupon that I had just gotten in the mail the same day of the repair, but which I couldn't use for that same reason that day. I went back two days later and he applied it willingly. This saved me $60 on a repair that cost $515, which I very much appreciate. The next time I have any major car problems, I plan on using Benchmark Autoworks again. Second review: I continue to recommend this auto repair shop highly after getting another major repair there 6 months later. As with the first time, I found the pricing to be honest, fair, and better than other comparable auto repair shops. I especially like the fact that they suggest when certain parts of repairs are not necessary, which therefore saved me lots of money. I had another $60 coupon and they readily applied it without question. I'll continue to bring my cars here for future repairs.

So glad I found this place. I took my car here for a diagnostic after a bad experience at another mechanic that left me feeling like the repair I needed done would be exorbitant due to a hard-to-find part. The mechanic who worked on my car at Benchmark was able to quickly come up with a logical creative solution to fix my wheel speed sensor at a decent price. This led me to believe he had a lot of experience and really knows what he's doing. I also appreciated that he let me know that my old tires were in even worse shape than I thought so I can go ahead and get them replaced and avoid a blowout. They prepared a reasonable quote for the tires but since I couldn't afford it outright at the moment and they don't offer financing, the receptionist referred me to Discount Tires, which offers financing, so I can get tires right away. I'm very happy with how they handled everything. l will definitely be a repeat customer.

I had suspicion that the issue with my car was the belt. The staff listened to me, a young woman, and answered all my questions about my car respectfully. My wife and I have had wonderful experiences with this shop since we moved into town. After suffering a popped tire, Benchmark provided us with same day service at a great rate. Not even a week later we experienced another popped tire, and we once more had a great experience. Most recently we experienced what we thought was a very serious issue with our car, that other mechanics from AAA initially misdiagnosed as a much more expensive problem. We brought our car to Benchmark and they correctly identified the issue as actually being due to a much cheaper malfunctioning part that did not merit replacing a significantly much more expensive, unrelated part. This cut our expected repair cost in half! They had our car up and running the very next day. The staff are also extremely courteous and polite, and take the extra effort to call you in a timely manner and notify you at every stage of the process. Would definitely recommend to anyone that needs service in Raleigh!

I had a great experience with Benchmark Autoworks in downtown Raleigh. I brought in my 2020 Lexus ES 350 because the rear brakes were grinding and the brake pedal had started pulsating. From the moment I walked in, the receptionist was very friendly and welcoming and made the whole process smooth and easy. Shortly after I dropped off the car, the mechanic called me personally to explain the diagnosis and the repair options. I really appreciated that they took the time to clearly explain what was happening and gave me the exact out-the-door price before doing the work. They replaced the rear brake pads and rotors and had the car ready the same afternoon. The brakes now feel perfectly smooth again. Their downtown Raleigh location is extremely convenient — I was able to leave the car there and simply walk to my office while the repair was being done.
