Great guys. Our brakes started making noise on a Sunday, and we found them because they were surprisingly open. They answered my call promptly and talked me through possibilities on the phone, including advising whether it was safe to drive to them (as opposed to being towed.) They fit us in first thing Monday morning and took care of everything, including being observant enough to point out that we'd missed our oil change date on the sticker and do that as well. They clearly broke down all issues and which ones needed more or less priority and why. Their pricing is transparent and fair: right in the middle of what the average price for the service should be when one googles the respective service. The car is driving very nicely afterwards and feels renewed. Thank you very much.

AVOID- picked up my friends car for her since she works full time. It started missing while driving in a heavy rainstorm and had to be towed. She was describing what the shop said to her; ie: could be the transmission, doing compression checks, etc. blah, blah…. The final bill: 1,300 dollars….. cash….give me a break! So an ignition coil failed. OK. Then WHY replace all four coils? And with AFTERMARKET parts at 2.5 times the actual OEM parts? Whatever. When I picked up the car ALL the warning lights were on. Adam shrugged and said” I didn’t work on it”. That’s his answer? Really? It’s YOUR shop. So now I had to drive 120 miles with unknown issues. Those warning lights should have been observed, the owner notified and issue rectified as part of this repair. Although in hindsight I am glad he didn’t as this simple repair would have likely been another thousand. A local shop checked it out the next day. A bad ABS sensor in the wheel. His genius mechanic couldn’t find this? Didn’t look? Took no responsibility AVOID. overpriced, incompetent.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOLT!! EXCELLENT SERVICE!! FAIR PRICE! You don't feel like you are being taken advantage of here, like you might at shops, especially if you are a woman. Long story short: I was interested in buying a used car off a friend's grandma. The car had been sitting in a garage for over 3 years, which could lead to a number of problems. Spoke to Adam at Bolt. He completely understood my situation - I only was going to buy the car if it could be brought back to life for a reasonable amount of money. His communication was clear and forthright. I really felt like I could trust him. No work was done unless I fully understood why it was needed and unless I expressly approved of it. He didn't do or recommend any services that he easily could've charged me for; instead he only did the things that were vital. In the end, I got myself a good used car, and with Adam's help at Bolt, it's working splendidly. I don't think you can go wrong with Bolt.

We were on vacation in the Hudson valley over Memorial Day weekend when our check engine light came on. Everyone was closed and we were worried we would be stranded with our dog in the area. We found Adam of Bolt Mechanics by chance and although he was not working on the Sunday before Memorial Day he gave us great advice and followed up with us a few times to make sure we made it home. He suggested we go to Auto Zone which would be open on the holidays and get a diagnostic error code of the engine malfunction. Then he asked us to text him the code. He explained to us that as long as the engine is not overheating based on the error we should be okay to keep driving the car until we had a chance to fix it. He even followed up with us to make sure everything was going well. He didn’t charge us and was just knowledgeable and nice enough to help a stranger out. Would def recommend him for anyone in the area looking for an honest shop.

My usual mechanic is booked solid for 2 weeks. But who can wait 2 weeks for your car to be repaired?! Used these guys once before for a small issue and remembered them again when my regular mechanic couldn't squeeze me it. Talk about a diamond in the rough. And by rough I just mean the neighborhood. Very honest and trustworthy guys. There's no shadyness or feeling like you're getting taken for a ride. I trust what he tells me and the price is fair. And they always take my car right away! Although it probably won't stay that way for long if I keep running my mouth like this on Google. I might have found a new usual mechanic.

My car unexpectedly went into "Limp" mode over Father's day weekend. I'm not super knowledgable about cars, so I reached out to Bolt Mechanics and almost immediately was in phone and text contact with Adam - on the Sunday of a holiday weekend! I was super impressed at their responsiveness. He gave me extremely practical advice (and a few things to try before needing to bring in the car to the shop, which I really appreciated), but long story short I needed to bring my car in to be serviced. Adam and Justin in the office were so gracious to me, thorough with my car, and very to the point with their diagnosis and explanations. My issue? I was overdue for maintenance and basically out of oil. How embarrassing on my part. But they were not even a little condescending about it, and helped me understand next steps with the dealer. I only wish they were closer to me so I could use their services more regularly. Highly, highly recommend.

I really like that they take pictures of the problem and show me so that I'm aware of what's getting done and why.(I know slim about cars so this detail is somehow comforting.) I can't thank Adam and Justin enough for helping me with my Chevy. They are very experienced, professional, and honest mechanics. When I came in they were able to diagnose and repair my car for reasonable price and got the job done super quick. I had a water pump and starter replaced and also got a tune up. The customer service is great too, they always responded to my calls and texts right away and they even gave me a ride home when I didn't have anyone to take me. My 2002 4Runner's check engine light came on when driving upstate and it started to limp along. I take great care of this car but it does have 143,000 on it and things come up. Poughkeepsie is not my home so I could not go to my regular mechanic. I searched reviews and came across Bolt. I called and was immediately impressed with the professionalism of how they answered my questions so I made a same day appointment and went. When I arrived, I was greeted and was impressed by the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the garage. They got the car right in and diagnosed the problem. Two sensors were the issue under the manifold which was a complicated and labor intensive repair. While they had the manifold apart they found a few other items that needed attention that would have cost me far more to have to reopen the manifold later when the parts failed. I told them to take care of it all and they did. The car was done in less than 24 hours and it is running better than ever. The repair was not inexpensive but very fair for what they did. They also guaranteed the work in writing and told me to contact them asap if anything came up. I would highly recommend the shop and Adam, Justin and their crew were tremendous.

We were referred to go here a couple of weeks ago when my daughter’s radiator went out. They got her in right away and communicated with us out of town. We then had a brake issue two weeks later and I called and talked with Justin, the owner, on a Sunday morning and he got us right away on Monday. He anticipated the parts and I got there at 8:30 and was out by 10. He really helped us out and didn’t do extra work that wasn’t needed. I appreciated that so much. Can't recommend this place enough. The guy who takes my repairs, Justin I think, is always honest and straightforward about everything. Explains everything in detail and doesn't try to confuse me. My car was making a nasty grinding sound, and he identified it as just a loose exhaust and did a quick fix for dirt cheap. Even helped do my NYS Safety and Emissions test as well when he noticed it was out of date. Easily my go to mechanic now.
