Highly recommend Browns Auto Services. Better than any dealer I’ve ever worked with. The summary and priority list they provide as well as photos and discussion have gained our trust!

Thank god for Browns auto for saving my father in law and I's trip home. When reliable chevy turned us away for a diesel issue they went above and beyond to take care of us and get us on the road again.

Quoted $89 over the phone but after I went in the final bill was $129 - even AFTER a $15 coupon! BTW, they charge extra for the oil filter 🤣 They were super evasive when I asked how long the service took. Finally after being dodging the question every which way, they said that it takes 1.5 to 2 hours. Really? 2hrs for an oil change? $40 for one extra quart of synthetic oil? These guys are shady. Stay away. I see that you deflect the truth in your bad reviews. DO NOT RESPOND TO MY REVIEW!!! You guys are liars and cheats! You guys are shifty! There was NO MISUNDERSTANDING! Nothing will change my review. I hope people read this and hold you accountable.

I recently brought my cousin’s BMW to Browns Automotive for some important work—replacing the coils, spark plugs, and a few fuel injectors. The entire process was handled smoothly and professionally. Ray was the one who helped me through everything. He stayed in constant contact and kept me updated on the vehicle every step of the way, which I really appreciated. It’s not often you find that kind of communication and transparency. The pricing was fair, and the turnaround time was impressively fast. The car is running great now, and I couldn’t be happier with the service. I’ll definitely be recommending Browns Automotive—and Ray—to family and friends.

I was so pleased with the service and care I got from Browns. They were very honest about what I needed now and what could wait a bit. I appreciated that. Also very thorough. This was my first time there and I will now use them for all my auto needs including getting tires since they back up their products. Thanks Ray and team for a great job.

I brought my F-250 to the shop at 6001 4th for transmission issues. I have used Browns automotive for years back when they only had one location. Service Manager Ray Armijo initially quoted me $8,000 for a replacement. When I said I’d pick up the truck and get a second opinion, the quote suddenly dropped to $6,000. I still declined and chose to pick it up. At that point, I was told the truck would not start because the glow plug relay had shorted out. Nothing was replaced, then I was told it was actually the starter—which cost me $677.64. They assured me the truck was good to go. After driving less than a quarter mile, the truck lost acceleration, shook violently, and died in the middle of the road. I had it towed back to the shop, where they then claimed it was the cam positioning sensor. District Manager Tim Sloan assured me it would be fixed for another $300. The sensor was replaced, but the truck still wouldn’t start. Next, they said it was the mechanical fuel pump—another $2,200. At that point, I had my truck towed out of there. I was left with a bill of over $1,000 for the starter repair and diagnostic charge yet no repairs that fixed the issue, and a vehicle in worse condition than when I brought it in. ⚠️ Beware: unfair price gouging, shifting diagnoses, and excessive labor costs. Take your vehicle to real experts who can actually fix the problem and actually care about the little guy.

Had cluth replaced 2020 at 4th street street location. Drove vehicle 8000 miles in 5 years when replaced throw out bearing in clutch assembly failed, but because of time of failure warranty had run out, thereby leaving me disgruntled about wanting to pay another $1500 for another installed clutch assembly. Took my Ford van into Los Ranchos location to have air conditioning system leak repaired and their technician did an excellent job and was charged a reasonable price. Wish I had kept his name for future reference.

I was told I had a transmission leak at a Valvoline and they told me to take it to this place. When they looked at it they told me that was not even what was close to wrong and fixed it free of charge and got me out within 10 minutes. Didn't charge me a penny. They let me know of some upcoming charges that might be coming up. Wow! What customer service!!! Ask for Vincent...

Saved Me Money My car has been overheating be better off changing out the radiator but my best friend. Call Brown's automotive and they suggested that I would do a pressure test instead of throwing more money into my car which I have found out that I had a blown head gasket and because of the blown head gasket they were not able to complete the test they could have actually charge me what they quoted me but they did not in fact it was half because they could not do the pressure test and for that I was totally relieved because my car is going to be junk soon but they didn't charge me extra they were kind and courteous uncompassionate offered different options but in the end if I have to get another car they offered of course with the charge to scan the next vehicle I get this way I will not get burned because let's face it income tax time and people will clear their codes I will definitely take that service up

Had a pre-purchase inspection done here. The report I received seemed very thorough and my service advisor Cameron explained everything to me patiently. Before my appointment I spoke to Fernando on the phone a couple of times and he was also very helpful. I took the inspection report to the dealer and they agreed to perform the recommended services on the vehicle as part of the purchase. I'm planning to use Brown's for future services and repairs on the vehicle.

This was the biggest waste of time and money I have ever spent. Please find a car company aligned with integrity. They quoted me a very high price stating “I PROBABLY needed to replace a thermostat” that DID NOT even need replacing (come to find out when we took it to a different car place). They charged 179.00 to say it “PROBABLY needed replacing” They kept my car for hours estimating other repairs my car “needed” when other car companies have been done in half the time (and half the cost) for the same service. Car left in worse condition than when I brought it in, please save your precious time and money. Even though they seemed kind, and topped off some fluid (which is the only reason for even ONE star) they over-quoted and over charged , and over-estimated repairs. (That my car did NOT even need.) (To the shop: please do not respond to this with some lame apology.) thank you.

I was cancelled service by the repair shop I had an appt with and Brown’s was able to take me that morning. They kept in contact daily with what was going on with my vehicle, which was very impressive to me. They did a timely great job! I will return for any service I need.

I came into the shop with medium expectation knowing that prices are going up pretty much everywhere but I was interested to see how Brown’s does business. Each reported diagnosis is 140+ tax comes to $170. Mind you that’s not repairing anything and get this the money spent to diagnose. It doesn’t come off the total if you decide to make the repairs with browns. I had a front suspension issue. It was $171 out the door for them to tell me what I already knew I got the total from Brown’s. I called Toyota and it was the exact same cost. I thought by going to a local mechanic it would be more personable and inexpensive to make repair repairs. That is not the case at Browns. I will continue to take my vehicle to the place where I bought it.

You know, I wrote a review of these guys after first seeing them and never had a chance to do the 360 on this. We took our car in and it was a Kia and they ran it on their diagnostic and they said it was okay. Then the next day we picked up drove it and I started doing the same stalling again. I called Ivan and asked what the heck was going on and he says oh yeah, we were afraid it was going to do that again. Are you freaking kidding me? I can't believe he had the call to tell me that and let the damn car go with us in it in a dangerous situation and say, oh. I thought we were going to see that happen again. They didn't do a diagnostic worth of damn. Let me tell you something because the cost they incur to you. It is only slightly under what the dealerships cost. You. Take my advice and take your damn car to the dealer because they have an idea what's going on and they will do a diagnostic before and afterwards. And Brown's automotive, do me a favor and save your damn platitudes of oh. Well, we'll look at this and we'll try to take care of this and this won't happen in the future. Nobody needs you guys. Take my advice and take your car to the dealership where they know what's going on with the cars. These guys are absolutely not worth your time or money.

Worst Automotive Experience! I took my 2015 Ford F150 in, in 11/25 to have my coolant flushed and water pump replaced. $2,900 in cost! In 02/26 I took my truck back to have other maintenance work done, only to find out Brown’s used the wrong coolant in November. They assured me they would flush my radiator of the wrong / green coolant. Further, they claimed to use a special additive to remove any residue of the incorrect, green coolant. And refill the radiator with the proper coolant. This took over 8 hours. Upon arrival to finally pick up my truck. I found 3 techs sucking green coolant out of my radiator. They appeared shocked when I walk up. They gave me some lame explanation why the coolant was still green. Feed up I took my truck and resolved the issue elsewhere. Overall I found Brown’s Automotive expensive, techs incompetent and poor communication. I will never use Brown’s Automotive again.

I had a great experience with Vincent and Darryl and everyone who took care of my car! They got me in quickly and the services were timely. Darryl took the time to go over my inspection with me and let me ask as many questions as I had (he’s a saint cuz I had a lot). He explained what would be more urgent vs what I could keep an eye on and had reccs for places for work they couldn’t do and I felt understood and cared for. I will definitely be taking my car back for anything that comes up just for the customer service alone. Thank you all at Browns off 4th and Guadelupe trail!

I recently had repairs at Browns on 4tht St. The customer service was top notch. Anna kept me informed and called me to give me status reports. She called when she said she would and followed up with me when she said she would. When I picked up the truck, Vincent went over things with me again and made sure I was happy before I left. Brown's has restored my faith in standing by the work they do.

My car's repair estimate from Brown's Automotive on 4th St. NW was just under the dealerships costs and came with a 3-year warranty. They even verified that a high cost repair suggested by the dealership wasn't needed. General Manager, Vincent, and mechanics were attentive, professional, and friendly. I feel confident with my neighborhood Brown's Automotive Shop. Thanks everyone!

The staff and technicians at Brown’s Automotive on 4th St. definitely deserve a 5 star rating. They got our vehicle into the shop, and promptly assessed the issues. Communication was professional and courteous. The technicians go above and beyond with their attention to detail. We highly recommend this group of professionals. Fair prices on parts and labor. Safety seems to be of the utmost importance when getting drivers back on the road.
