Went in to have my AC Condenser leak fixed on my 2013 Jeep. I was referred to Buddy's Automotive on 23rd st. in Independence Mo. I was nervous at first because I've had my Jeep since 2019 and never had any problems with it. But when l walked in spoke with Mike and a young lady sitting at their desk and they were very pleasant so that eased my nerves. But all and all through the whole process my experience was Great!!!! Got my truck fixed now issues. I'm so happy for my experience with them and they did such a great job! Would l go back to Buddy's Automotive...l most certainly would!!! Thanks you guys so much!!!

I just used Buddy's for the first time. I had my car tested first. However, I was asked about running a diagnostic test. This is done to make sure that you are saying exactly what you need. I was super happy with the work. The price was great. The people were all friendly. I asked how long will this take? They replied half a day and that was exactly right. I called on a WEDNESDAY MADE AN APPOINTMENT -THE WORK WAS DONE FRIDAY. The dealership wanted 140.00 more. They take debit and cash. I am very happy overall and will be using Buddy's again in the future. 10 out 10 recommend.

Service was outstanding. In and out in the same day even after I added an oil change and chassis lube when they called to inform me that my original work was completed and the van was ready to be picked up. Price for the performed work was very reasonable and affordable. Counter help was friendly and courteous. I came in with a worried frown expecting the worst and left with a happy smile feeling like I have finally found an honest and competent auto mechanic shop. Sent my son to have work done on his truck and will be sending them all the work I can.

Horribly rude place don’t tell you the honest truth, overpriced, and refused to try and help accommodate you when your schedule doesn’t align with their working hours front desk lady is incredibly rude. Disrespectful and basically called me a liar about what I was told several years ago directly from Buddy about how my car needs to be aligned if you want to go to a place that tells you the truth doesn’t try to sell you things you don’t need has lower prices. Can get you in anytime during the day that best suits you and they are completely sincere, honest, cordial, and polite. Go to Snyder‘s Automotive they had no issue getting my vehicle in much later in the day for an alignment and I didn’t have to drop it off early in the morning and you can also sit there in they’re open lobby and watch everything they do to your car. Snyder‘s also doesn’t have to take your car somewhere else to do an alignment. He can do it right there in his own shop unlike at Buddys. Never going back there again. Snyders will now be the only place I take my car.

I found Buddy's when looking for an honest auto shop to inspect my vehicles after 2 other places tried to say there was an issue when I knew full well there wasn't. Have worked on my own cars for the better part of 60 yrs. Getting to old now to do most work on them. I admit, they are a busy shop. But with an appointment, could not be happier with the service and prices. Honesty goes a LONG way in this type of service.

Buddy’s team is excellent. They understand new cars and old. Asked for midsummer engine check up. They fixed the engine and charged the AC.for under 2 hrs of labor. I’m cruising in the cool!

I've used buddies for years but I will no longer be working with them. They have been trustworthy and reputable and as a woman it is a very big deal to trust the automotive shop I am using. We have taken my car in to have one service completed and now there are more issues with my car receiving it back then when it was taken in. When I called in to address these concerns, the owner continue to cut me off. Interrupt me started to raise his voice at me started to tell me how I was not listening. Even though every time he began to speak, I would pause and allow him to finish even though he interrupted me. Spoke over me and was very condescending and rude. This shop has gone to garbage and I hope there are no other women that will continue to use this space.

Never again. I could write all the details, but when a good customer who has spent $$$ says they will never return, that is enough. Customer service gets zero, quality parts gets zero. In response, i spent over $1,000.00. that should get me a respectful response when I call with a problem. But I've figured out your rudeness makes people go away, exactly what you want instead of fixing the issues.

DO NOT TAKE UR VEHICLE HERE! I spent $1800 getting my car fixed here 3 weeks ago. I got it back and not even 4 days later, I had an even worse problem than I had before. When I called Buddy to tell him what was going on he was very rude & disrespectful & told me that I needed to have it towed back up there & if it was “something they did wrong they’d fix it but if not he’d let me know”. He cut me off several times when I was trying to speak. I decided to take it somewhere else and I am so glad I did! When I originally took it to Buddy’s, they replaced the max air flow sensor. When I took it to the new shop, they stated that that part was cheap & looked used & had “made in china” all over it and parts that come from China weren’t the best parts. He read the code reader and the max air flow sensor popped up again (this is after I paid Buddy’s to fix it). He unplugged it and plugged it back in and no change. So they bought a new one and put it in and it started right up. I called Buddy to explain to him I would like my money back for the part & he told me that “I should have had it towed to him and he would have even paid for it”. But he did not tell me he’d pay for the tow when I originally called him first. He told ME to get it towed there which would have been another $150. He knew I am a single mother with a child with chronic illness. I have to take him to a lot of Dr appointments. Several ppl told me that they had taken their cars there before and would have to take it back a week later to have the same issue or another issue fixed. Not only this issue, my man has taken his car up there several times to have his brakes and rotors replaced. Instead of replacing them, we later found out, that they shaved them down but charged him for parts and labors plus an oil change he did not ask for. Buddy is very rude & disrespectful. He does not care about making sure your vehicle is fixed and safe to drive in. He is only worried about fixing it temporarily so then you will have to bring it back again and PAY MORE. They also charged me $40.00 for “shop supplies” and no that isn’t for the gas and hazardous waste bc they charged me for that too. I have sent so many family and friends there but after this experience, I will be sending everyone I know to this other shop. He was great and gave me the old part back and showed me what it looked like and how crappie it was. He encouraged me to get my money back and told me that Buddy will get money for my old part. So not only did Buddy get money off of me for “fixing my car”, he will get money for my old part and I had to eat that money and pay another $350 to have the SAME THING fixed CORRECTLY. Buddy was mad at me for not bringing my car to him but I told him I didn’t trust him based off my first experience, my bf experience and other experiences I heard and the way he spoke to me this morning. He tried to make me feel like the bad guy and act as if he was the victim. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!

I’ve had 2 experiences here. The first one when I dealt with the nice female receptionist was great kind respectful and courteous my splash guard broke so it was an easy $36 fix. This past experience is why I’m writing this review. My car died and gave me trouble while I was driving so I wanted to have the car towed directly where it died but they told me that I had to wait because there lot hadn’t been plowed. I waited and dropped my car off on a Thursday they followed up once the tow truck got it there cool. They said I should hear by Friday. Never heard anything I called Monday they told me my engine was bad so I foot em thank you and I’ll find a way to have it towed. He calls me 3 days later and asks what I’m doing with the car and was very rude disrespectful and showed no decorum or professionalism. I told him I’m going to have it towed. He tells me I owe $139 to look at the car. I simply asked why wasn’t I told this when I dropped the car off especially knowing the extent of what it was there for. He screamed yelled and told me he needs his money so I told him I’ll get it accordingly. His professionalism and patience needs work. Or he just needs to simply hang it up and retire.

I prefer to do my own work, however I needed a new transmission put in my Xterra...Mike at Buddy's worked with me despite the new transmission being delivered a month early....the work was done on time and the estimate was within a dime of predicted cost. The quality of work done and the integrity of Mike and his whole staff was excellent....I am a retired mechanic and really picky and I would most highly recommend this shop to anyone desiring honest and superior service

Buddy's is just the best! As a single woman who knows next to nothing about cars, I have always felt like I can trust what they say. Good people! ❤️

I’m not sure who I talked to but whoever it was is very unprofessional. From the comment he made to my mom when she walked in to the phone I call I had with him. I tried to explain to him what was going on with my vehicle and for some reason he had a snappy response to everything I said. Tried to explain to him what codes were going off so it would help them a little more but kept over riding me saying ”we still have to do a diagnostic” over and over. Wouldn’t even let me talk to the mechanic that was going to work on my vehicle. Not to mention the comment he made to my mom when she walked through the door for an 8 o’clock appointment “we need to keep that door locked”.

TRIED TO SWINDLE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS FROM ME. Came in for an oil change and was told that my plug for my oil pan was stripped and leaky, which I already had been told before. He then told me that the entire pan had to be replaced (approximately 500$ parts and labor) and that there was nothing else that could be done. Took it somewhere else and they immediately put in an oversized plug for me that cost about 10$. If he senses that you don't know anything about cars HE WILL TRY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU. He was also very very condescending and rude to me.

On Tuesday, October 1st, 2024, I had a very disappointing experience with Buddy’s Automotive service. Three weeks earlier, I took my overheating Malibu to their shop and received a quote of $ 1,564.34 for a new radiator and labor. After agreeing to the repair, they informed me that they couldn't fit the new part and needed to take the car to another shop for necessary adjustments. Upon inspection, I found that my old radiator had been reinstalled despite being charged for a new one. Today, I was told my bill would be $3964. When I arrived at the shop and brought up the issue with my old radiator, they couldn't deny it. Buddy's Automotive had reinstalled the old radiator and deducted $300 from the total bill. I then tried to pay by check, but Buddy’s Automotive refused to accept it, insisting on cash. Despite all this, the overheating problem reoccurred on my way home. I believe the service I received fell far below the expected standards, and the high cost did not reflect the quality of work. I feel completely taken advantage of and would strongly advise against using Buddy’s Automotive. On 10/7/2024, I took it to Cable Dahmer Chevrolet for a second opinion about what was wrong with the car. The diagnosis confirmed I need a new engine, which I believe was the original issue.

Dont do business here! Absolutely no character at all. Told him what might be the issue and he saw it wasn't the issue but instead of informing that information took a perfectly good part off the car charged a high dollar and then said that wasn't the issue this is the problem and that would be an additional cost. When asked why didn't call to inform before changing part basically said oh well not my fault u thought it was this. What type of mechanic does this dishonest thing. Times to hard to hurt people financially like this. Changed a perfectly good part and just shrug it off. God don't like ugly and this was as ugly as it comes! Very shady, extremely rude. He uses rudeness to make u go away after u have called out the issues and dishonesty. NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! U WILL EITHER GET USED PARTS OR GOOD PARTS CHANGED CHARGES A HIGH DOLLAR AND THEN TOLD THAT WASNT EVEN THE ISSUE AND WHEN ASKED WHY YOU DIDN'T CALL AND TELL ME THEN YHE RUDENESS STARTS

I personally would never go here. I went to a wonderful auto shop. The people were so kind. They showed me exactly what was wrong with my car wiggled my control arm n tie rod Gave me a price. I told him it was really high and I couldn’t afford it he said he understood to do my research maybe I could do it myself. A customer heard me and recommended me to this store. I called this store explaining what’s wrong with my car that I wanted to fix the tire rod myself, but was looking for pricing for my Control arm and an alignment. He said he needs to look at it 160 I said u couldn’t just give me a price he said he can’t price something without knowing that’s the issues. I told him I know for certain it’s the issue I was shown and got to wiggle the control arm myself n tie rod and explained I’m I’m gonna do the tire rod myself that I needed someone to my control arm and Alignment on my car. He said whatever shop you went to that’s gonna be my price too. I said well could you ball park me a price just so I could compare it myself. He told me 1100. My control arm is bolted in with 3 bolts I belt this was really high I explained that to him he Got mad and said if I know what I’m doing do it myself and I’m trying to out price him n he won’t do buisness With me, it was disrespectful and it hurt my feelings like I’m just A regular person trying to make a living on pennies just like everyone else looking for a good deal but still quality work and the way he spoke to me was so rude as hell n ain’t no way these auto shops should be pricing stuff this expensive I hate to see the cost of engine work here if a simple lower control arm on front of nissian Altima is 1100 after being spoke too crazy I would never waist my enegery or time I’m glad I recorded my phone calls bc this one I’ll be posting

I have come here for a few years. Every time, they have gotten me in quickly and addressed the concern in a reasonable amount of time. The woman working the front desk is accommodating and helps explain what’s going on so that I can understand it. They always call and give an estimate before starting the work to make sure I’m good with the cost and understand what all needs to be addressed. I will continue to come to Buddy’s for all my mechanic needs and recommend the to anyone looking for a reputable/timely shop. Thank you!
