I had an excellent experience. Scheduling with John on the phone was simple; he was honest about when they could realistically work on my car. I needed help to find a dead rodent (ugh), so it was a job of unknown magnitude. Not all shops will quote you their labor rate upfront, but this Car-X did. Together we agreed on a time budget for the search, which succeeded, and they confirmed no other damage to my vehicle. Though the job than a little over our agreed time, they didn't charge me the difference. Thanks to Pat, Billy, and the whole team!

Going here is one of the best experiences I’ve ever had with an auto shop. Genuine employees who don’t give you incorrect information just to make a quick buck. They provide insightful information about the repairs your vehicle needs and they always go above and beyond - from the second you drop off your car to the moment you pick it up. I’ll continue to tell others I know to come here, too. I cannot stress enough just how much better I feel dropping my car off, knowing that when I return, the repairs were completed with care and attention to detail and charged at a great price. This review is so long overdue. I have been their customer for about two years now and I just absolutely love them. If you're looking for an auto shop that you can trust, this is the one! They are very knowledgable and honest, they will never try to sell you more than what your car needs. In fact, when my husband and I were car shopping a few years ago, we would bring the cars we were interested in for them to take a look at them, and after we brought a few cars they stopped charging us! Also, one time my Ford Escape seemed to have a computer issue, so they took a look at it, fixed it and didn't charge me anything because the problem was so minor and easy to fix. I mean, who does that?! They're just awesome and helpful. Thanks Pat, John and all of your team!

The crew here's top-notch!! I brought my GMC Sierra truck in for an alignment after those other guys at the same brand's shop couldn't get it done right. BROKE MY TRANS. Brought my car for an alignment, they couldnt do it, when I picked it up my manual transmission was broken and they refused to do anything about it. Pretty sure they took it for a joy ride and broke something in my trans and when they parked it, the trans got stuck in reverse. EDIT For response: I said that getting INTO reverse was a bit jiffy, not any other gear, you have that on record. Also, I never said that the key getting stuck on the ignition was a problem at all, no idea where you got that from and I said to leave the key under the wheel to pick it up so no idea how you even manage to leave on the ignition and also leave it under the tire. I went to pick up the vehicle where it was STUCK in reverse with the shifter feeling in neutral, something that has NEVER happened on my vehicle so it somehow went from driving fine, to transmission broken with a separate shop confirming it was not the master or slave. So again, explain how you guys also checked my car and said it was not a linkage problem the next day when you said I picked up the car after 5:30. I have receipts for everything so keep on lying.

My husband & I had been bringing both vehicles here for years because it’s close & because of PAT, the store GM. He took care of locals/regulars & went the extra mile. I hope his new employer knows how lucky they are to have him. Last oil change, I made a 10am appmnt & to have an brake light system light checked out. By late afternoon I called to see if oil change done & they hadn’t started on it. They said looked for light-which didn’t get fixed. I didn’t hold not fixing the BLS light against them. I had driven my new puppy in car several times. Day after picking up car, my pup freaks out. We both hear a loud noise, comes & goes. I have an oil leak- and there’s a leak from somewhere above the oil. Caps & screws were 1) loose 2) too tight & broke 3) missing. Since I heard the noises suddenly starting the day after picking up my car & they were the last to touch my car: oil change and now I have a hole and a leak. My husband & I will never bring our vehicles back there even though it’s in out neighborhood. I am telling others as well. The only thing that would return my business to that shop is if PAT returned. BRING PAT BACK!!

Can't say enough good things. Pat listened to me and prioritized my priorities - getting the work done within the day, and the most cost effective options. He also communicated with me consistently through the stages. I had an estimate for over $1300 at Firestone and Car-X took care of the car for a little over $600. Edit: I had to take down my star rating because of the last 2 times I took the car back here. Every other time I've been here Pat has been working and service on the car, everything, has been excellent. But in this past first appointment I paid for a non-fix to an issue, that only got worse. I explained this and they were able to squeeze me in in a few days to take another look at the problem (but only after I pressed how extreme the issue was, burning smells, ABS kicking up, couldn't drive past 20mph, etc). So I take the car in again and received no communication throughout the day until I'm the one to call and ask for an update 8 hrs later, they said they called and left a message but never did. They quoted me the price for a repair that I declined. Then it turns out that I had to leave the car over the weekend because it was late in the day on a Friday, and they were closing. This was frustrating but I understand things happen and I expect that as a customer. The main thing for me was that after all of this I took the car to another place to get it diagnosed, and they immediately saw that my transmission was broken and causing all of the extreme issues. Meanwhile Car-X apparently never saw or mentioned this as a possibility, in two appointments, but was charging and quoting me for other repairs... I had a lot of trust in this place but feel I have to go somewhere else now.

Ladies and gentleman I want to brag about the Manager at Car-X on East Lake Street who has given me a new perspective on automotive business and customer service in general. I had a battery that needed to be returned at NAPA on Lake street, they did not want to replace it, Car-X had gotten it from them and it was installed by them. I have a 2014 Subaru Legacy that runs like a top (yes, I bought the extra warranty) but has had nothing but problems with the tires losing pressure due to corrosion (I had all rims replaced) and now some new low pressure problem that required grease (I'm not a mechanic). Over the past few years, that damn low pressure indicator has popped on forcing me outside in below zero weather to climb snow banks to check tire pressure and then set up my portable tire inflator. NOT FUN. So, off to CarX for help. And more than once, I have taken out my credit card, ready for the bad news, and they have said, "No charge." I am so impressed with how they make me feel like a real person. I recommend them highly for their customer service and expertise.

I had a fantastic experience here yesterday that really showcased their professionalism. I realized I was overdue for a tire rotation but didn't have an appointment scheduled. I decided to stop in anyway, and I was incredibly impressed by how accommodating they were. Jesse, the manager, is absolutely a customer service warrior he will over and being to help you out. He’s professional yet personable, making the wait go by quickly with great conversation. You don't often come across a place that handles walk-ins with this much efficiency and such a warm welcome. I have been to CarX at the Lake Street location three times and each time my vehicle needs were met/fixed and I received excellent customer service. The photo attached is having the instrument lightbulbs replaced. I have also had my alternator replaced and heater core on my "classic" 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport XLS. Jesse is the onsite manager and he thoroughly explains repairs that are needed and options with no pressure. His team of mechanics are also very friendly. Make sure to check for coupons on the website. There appears to be a wide range of coupons.
