Wow, I was super impressed with CR Transmissions. I initially had no idea what to expect when dealing with them. It's a "throwback" shop, so it's not the fanciest or cleanest place in the world, but the people there are honest and trustworthy, and that's more much more valuable. It's been a month later after needing my transmission replaced and I've had no issues. They had similar transmissions to mine already prepped and ready to go, which sped things up, rather than taking mine apart and fixing that specific one. I was totally fine with that. Sometimes if I called I would get their voicemail, but they were prompt at calling me back. Their price was the most reasonable around. They additionally helped me diagnose an AC issue as well, which led to some $ savings as well. They definitely exceeded my expectations and I'm actually more than happy to give them a good review and hopefully help them out in return.

I had a great experience with this company. They were very honest in the information that they gave me, which allowed me to upgrade some of the parts in my transmission to make it more suitable for towing. I’ve worked with other companies before with transmissions work, none of gone to that depth with their explanation and their price was over $1000 cheaper!

Brought my car in today in a cloud of anxiety. It was acting funny and the check engine light was on with a message that said "service transmission now." Like everybody on the planet, I rely on my car get me to work and everywhere else. And I know transmissions are not cheap. After calling some auto shops around town, I was starting to get disheartened because people were telling me it would be a 4-week wait before they could even look at it, or that they didn't do transmissions at all. Cedar Rapids Transmissions told me they could look at it in one week. That day is today. I dropped the car off in the morning, and then I got the call that there was a small part that had failed called the transmission control module. He said it would take at least three weeks to even get the part in. I started to panic a little bit, wondering how I could possibly bum rides from my friends and family for another 3 weeks. But then he told me there is an open recall on that part that has been extended. So if you take it to the dealership, they will fix it for free. He didn't have to tell me that. I know that in a perfect world he did exactly what an honest professional should do. But the world is not perfect, and he could have easily made money on that repair instead of telling me how to get it fixed for free. I'm very appreciative.

Brought my truck here for an issue with shifting that I tried to fix myself but was unable. They got me in quick, called me shortly after opening and had my truck back to me within a few hours with a new shifter put in for about 270 and they even put back the pieces I had taken off myself and I didn't even ask them to. My truck feels brand new. Good customer service, will be back for sure

These guys are honest, kind, and efficient. They worked quickly and charged fairly. They also gave me a few references for other trustworthy mechanics in my area for another problem my car had. A lot of larger more commercial garages have a habit of making me feel like just a number, but these guys were very welcoming and helped me out of a tight spot. Would absolutely recommend them to anyone.

Scratched my truck, refused to acknowledge it and wont respond to emails or calls. Very disrespectful. If you want someone to destroy your stuff, head here. On top of that, they didnt listen to the reason I brought the truck in the first place. I have to file a police report because these guys didnt respect my property. Any respectable business will respond to emails or calls, not ignore you. Cant say it didnt happen, huge on the drivers side door. Luckily for me I have pictures before it went there. See em in court
