I own a small business in Charleston. I had a repair done to a company car and the part was faulty and broke at a client's home. I had it towed to a different garage because the car was almost at Kiawah Island and I had to get it done quickly to get the car out of the client's driveway. This morning, I asked about towing the car back for repair but Charleston Auto Electric let the car stay on Johns Island to have the repair done where the car landed yesterday to save me the hassle and extra money to get it back to North Charleston. I appreciate it. Things happen and these folks know that it is most important to stand behind your work. Well done fellas. John

Originally took my 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 5.7 V8 in for a no crank, no start issue. They did a wonderful job in diagnosing the issue and replacing the PCM. However, once I got the car back, the radiator fan would run at full speed whenever it was on and it sounded like an airplane engine, which was not happening prior the original problem. I shared my concerns with them and they agreed to take a look at the issue. They said the sound was normal and expected behavior. I was aprehensive about that response but I reluctantly trusted their answer and took the car back. After some weeks with the car and the radiator fan still being really loud, I contacted them again with my concerns about the fan and they agreed to look at it again but had the same response as before. I disagreed with their lack of findings and did my own research and purchased my own diagonstics tools. I found that the PCM that they put in my vehicle had been programmed for a 3 speed relay fan when the fan in my vehicle was a PWM controlled fan. I puchased additional 3rd party PCM tuning tools (not cheap) JUST to change the fan setting from 3 speed relay to PWM Linear in the PCM. After I rewrote the configuration to the PCM, the fan operated normally. While I was happy with their initial work and appreciate the fact that I was not charged for the other 2 visits, I was disappointed in the fact that they did not take a deeper look into my fan issue.

These guys are great and I will be back. I have a 15+ year old car and just died on the road. Had it towed to the dealer and they quoted me more than $6k in repairs. Was about to give up when my husband reminded me that he had taken his car to Charleston auto & electric. They checked it over, fixed a few things that cost me less than $800 and it is running g fantastically. The major repair the dealer had recommended was not at all verifiable by them. So grateful!

This was an outstanding experience. For a little backstory, I had been dealing with progressive. I had a claim and they took my truck to another shop first. Turns out the shop did not do electrical work at all. Not sure why my truck was towed there but hey here we are. I then needed to provide them a new shop to tow my truck too. And once again here we are. I remembered these guys from a couple years ago when they looked at my wife’s car. They looked at it for half a day and ended up charging us nothing because they did not find anything wrong. Same thing here. I got a detailed report texted to me and it had a very thorough write up of inspection items. The items that were listed were known problem issues with my truck. It was refreshing to know I wasn’t getting taken to the cleaners. Oh and the electrical issue- $0.00. A “wrench turn” on the report. Nice to know fair honest mechanics are still around. Thanks again guys. Only place I’m taking my cars going forward. Yes, I need to go. Do you want to head?

Outstanding experience. Professional, knowledgeable, and reasonably priced. While the dealership and one other garage quoted a price to reprogram my ABS module, the dealership said I would have to pay whether they were successful or not, and the garage said that they had had trouble performing this reprogramming in the past and I would have to drop my car off. Charleston Auto Electric said it was no problem and it should only take 45 minutes and I could wait for it if I got there when thy first opened. They were true to their word and I am very thankful. Highly recommend them, and I will definitely drive from Moncks Corner if I need future repairs that I’m unable to do.

THEY ARE SUPER HONEST WITH DIAGNOSING REPAIRS! I would without hesitation recommend them to friends and family and here is why: The first time I went to them, two other repair shops told me I needed to replace a bunch of parts costing over 1,900 in repairs, but the mechanics at Charleston Auto and Electric told me I only needed a control arm. The control arm ended up being the only thing I needed repairing and they saved me about 1,500 bucks, The second time my car wouldn’t start, and I had.the triangle of death light flashing on my Prius dashboard. I was vulnerable to any mechanic to take advantage where they could say anything and charge me an arm and a leg. But the mechanic Will found the problem to be a wire that wasn’t attached correctly, he fixed the wire at no charge. All I needed to pay for was the diagnosis. Also, Jose at Two Bros tire and auto repair recommended them. He sends people to Charleston Auto and Electric when it’s an electric car issue that he doesn’t want to touch, and his clients have told them that they are good guys. Nick at the front desk was friendly and super helpful. I felt like I was talking to a friend that cared.

If I ever have another problem with my car, I'll definitely be bringing it back here! For the past year, my car has been in and out of shops and had many different people look at it just to all be told the same thing but I knew it was something more than what they were saying. I took it here and within a day, they were able to figure out what had been wrong with my headlight the entire time. I also really liked that they looked at every part of the car - not just the headlight, and gave their recommendations on what should be taken care of, without me feeling pressured to have any additional services done. The communication was great, everyone was super nice, and I had my car back within a week! My car runs like a dream now and I can FINALLY see at night!!
