Larry and his team are top-notch. I've been receiving service here for years and I'll never go anywhere else. They are fast, knowledgeable, and friendly. Larry gets to know you on a first name basis, and makes you feel like part of the car care family. They could easily charge double or triple what they currently charge. The service both inside and outside of the shop is that good.

My Family and I have been going to West River Car Care for as long as I can remember. They always do an amazing job and are very personable as well! I actually just got an oil change today and everything went very smoothly. The prices are reasonable and the mechanics are very knowledgeable as well. They even gave me a run down of what I might need fixed in the future without me even asking. I highly recommend West River Car Care cause they always do a great job for me and my family. Thanks Larry and the Team! Your work is very much appreciated! 🔧

The technician was helpful and informative and the place has adopted a new process to provide pics and status' as they progress through the job, but they weren't able to diagnose my cars issue (couldn't replicate it) and had to pay $140 for them just to look at it...granted, I know their time isn't free, but this feels steep...definitely makes me think twice about going back.

The guys at Community Auto were very helpful to me when I purchased a new battery and discovered that the retailer did not have the proper equipment to install it. I took a to Community and they installed it right away and now my Jetta starts and runs like a top.

I called and they were able to get my car in that day, they even gave me and my significant other a ride home while we waited for the repairs! They did phenomenal work and were honest and helpful by finding an alternate source for parts to repair the vehicle! I will be taking my porsche there for all future maintenance!

Only been here once (shop came highly recommended) and I definitely am making them my go-to mechanic. Super easy to schedule, excellent communication, and very reasonable. Thoroughly explained any findings on my Subaru, provided estimates ahead of time, and let me know what to expect for upcoming maintenance. No up-selling, no pushiness. Just great service. Do recommend.

I loved my experience with this garage !! I have been in chicago out of town while my car was in the shop and even from three hours away the men at Community Automotive Repair made everything so simple and easy! Todd especially was an amazing asset to helping me out, he answered all my questions quickly and promptly and managed to make sure i was only getting done what i needed. I will definitely be returning them for any further work on my Audi and would recommend them for absolutely anyone looking for a trusted garage

I feel like I got completely scammed and I’m upset with my experience. I don’t recommend coming here due to pricing. Last spring before this shop was bought out I had an oil leak fixed with a lot of other repairs that cost me $800. Today I brought my car in for work on my front brakes only (replacement) and it was over $900. The pricing is absolutely outrageous and I will not return to this location. To note, I did agree to pay this price as they did call me with the quotes before doing the work but unfortunately I didn’t have much choice on bringing my car elsewhere due to limited availability with my schedule, no help with rides and the fear of my brakes failing while driving. On a positive note, they did have a service to get me back to my house and they picked me up which was incredibly helpful and the individual who drove me was nice. The office staff was nice but the pricing alone should steer you away from here.

My car broke down on the way to work today and I had it towed to Community Automotive Repair because AAA recommended them, they were close, and available. I must share that I have never had such an experience before. Not only did they get my car right in for service, but they offered to drive me to work AND went even above an beyond later in the day sending a gift basket to my office with a note that they hoped it made my day a little better. I can't even believe the thoughtfulness. Car repairs are never fun and often expensive, but somehow I don't mind paying a company that sees me as a person and not just dollar signs. Well done Brandon!

Quick work and good communication. I used this company accidentally, as they seem to have purchased my old mechanic's shop, and I had a vehicle towed there. I needed an alternator replacement, which they performed same day, diagnostic was done first thing in the morning even. By all accounts it was an expensive repair, compared to average costs for the area. It was nearly 1500 out the door for an alternator replacement on a bog standard minivan. $300 of that was diagnosis, which was NOT discounted off the final work. I presume this price-point is due to their positioning as specialists for non-stock / European vehicles. If you have one of those, I have no doubt they'll do an excellent job for you. If you just need the alternator replaced on your super generic minivan, there are probably more economical options.

I have been going to Community Automotive Repair on West River Drive in Comstock Park for maintenance and repairs on my 2006 Volvo S80 since December of last year. And I stand by what I said in my initial post about the professional service at this location. I am always treated with respect, patience, and courtesy by all of the staff there. They make a point of explaining to me any problems or possible maintenance concerns in simple laymen’s terms. And, most importantly, they make good on their warranties. On at least two occasions they have done that with me in particular, even replacing a turn signal at their own expense and reevaluating an issue that was not quite resolved at no extra charge. They take pride in their work and strive to ensure customer satisfaction. And I cannot stress enough, they are uniquely adept at servicing European cars, at a fair cost, and with relatively quick service. They strive to get necessary parts delivered within the hour. They offer free transportation to and from any location (within reason) free of charge while your vehicle is being serviced. Alternatively, they offer free WI FI and coffee, if you prefer to wait for your vehicle at the garage. I strongly recommend CAR at the West River Drive location to anybody, especially if you have a European car. My kind regards and thanks to everybody at CAR. Brad Warner

Outstanding service! I would encourage anyone with a European car that is only going to the dealership because of concerns about independent shops not being able to service their cars adequately don't worry come here they will give it the same service but with reasonable prices.

This place doesn’t deserve even a half star rating - I have never in my life experienced such unprofessional, careless, and downright insulting service as I did at Community Automotive on West River Dr. in Comstock Park. My husband scheduled an appointment to have a few error codes checked and a possible leak diagnosed. Dropped my car off Friday morning, only to get a call at 4:30 PM that they “just couldn’t get to it.” They are closed on the weekend and asked if I needed my car back. Of course I need my car back. My husband and I gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought, things happen. They let us know that they could get the car in on Tuesday morning so we brought it back Monday evening, expecting they’d finally start by Tuesday morning given the fact that they were unable to get it on Friday. By Wednesday evening—still untouched. A full WEEK my car sat there, and nothing was done. Finally, by Friday, I get a call saying they’ll “try” to fix it that day. When we picked it up at 4:30 PM, my car was in WORSE condition than when I dropped it off. Immediately upon leaving, my dashboard lit up, there was loud clicking, and my ABS failed. I turned right back around, told my husband (who was behind me in his vehicle) that the car was NOT right. He drove it around the lot for himself to see what I was hearing and seeing. He immediately went back in the building to let them know. Their response? “That’s normal” and “we didn’t do anything to it—it must be a wheel bearing.” The staff member even got into my car himself and drove it around the lot and pretended that he didn't hear nor see anything wrong. WE COULD HEAR IT CLICKING AND MAKING NOISES WHILE STANDING OUTSIDE! We brought my car in with error codes and a leak… no noises, no ABS issues whatsoever. Then they had the audacity to say they are “washing their hands of it.” So after waiting an entire week of trying to figure out how to get to and from work, our kids to and from school and to sports practices with one vehicle along with paying them $500, we get our car back more damaged than before, with ZERO accountability, and a dismissive shrug from the staff. We are absolutely flabbergasted that this is how they treat paying customers. So, here we are with a car that I can’t drive and my husband on his way to a parts store to spend more money on parts to fix what they’ve done to my car. This is absolutely unacceptable! What a nightmare this week has been dealing with this place. Community Automotive, you should be ashamed to operate as a business. If you value your car, your money, and your safety—do NOT take your vehicle here. They shouldn’t even be in business.

Most shops won’t touch my ‘93 Dodge Stealth with a 10 foot pole. C.A.R. was eager to help when the ECM needed rebuilt. Tilar, the service advisor, was very easy to work with! The gift bag placed in your car when upon pick up was a nice touch.

Had my volkswagen touareg in for 2 weeks, they had to order a part fine, Thursday became Monday had to call for an update Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. They called me back and said yup good to go runs and oil is fine. Get in the car I need to put a quart of oil in, get on the highway the EPC light comes back on like the car was never driven at higher speeds 60-75. Im now out another $800 in repairs that didn't fix anything.

From the get go, they were very communicative and clearly explained things to me. They were able to figure out what was wrong and fix my car in a timely manner when the Subaru dealership couldn’t figure it out the two times I brought it there. Andrew and Tilar are very professional, kind and patient. Car troubles are stressful in many ways but Community Auto got me back on the road at an affordable price. Would definitely go back.

Seemingly overnight my husband's car went from driving like normal to making horrible sounds and barely turning. Sick of dealing with the dealership, we decided to call for an inspection. We dropped the car/key off at this location the same night we called, and I was pretty amazed that by 930am the next morning they had diagnosed the issues, called my husband with a comprehensive overview of what was needed to get up back up and running, and sent over our estimate. Not going to lie, it was not a cheap fix, but I don't believe it was overpriced for the services needed. It's an older car and big things start to fall apart with time - we approved charges on the online form, and from there we waited. Only 5 days later (including weekend, so 3 business days) and we got the call that his car was ready to be picked up. Due to us both working at hospitals with atypical schedules, business hours can be a challenge - they coordinated for an after hours pick up which we SO appreciated. All in all, the staff was friendly, professional, and super helpful. Speed of service for a pretty major fix was amazing. Thank you to the team at Community Automotive Repair! We'll definitely be coming back for future repairs and maintenance needs ❤️
