My car was leaking oil and Compact Car took apart my engine, replaced some gaskets, and also tuned the engine (they did something with the valves). The engine ran so much smoother after they finished with it, and I was very happy that I took my car there because I could tell that a lot of care that went into making it run smoother, and also to no longer leak oil. I also agree with the other comments about the staff. There seems to be very good communication between the mechanics and the person speaking with you on the phone (in my case Kris - a woman). She was very detailed in explaining to me what they had done to my car. I also agree with the other comments regarding their honesty and desire to work with you to help you reach the outcome that you are striving for with your car. They were recommended to me as an honest repair shop that will not rip you off, and they have consistently lived up to the reputation with all of the repairs they have done on my car so far (about 3).

So impressed with Compact Car Services! We were visiting relatives in Charlotte and had an issue with our RDX - Randy got us in right away, they were able to diagnose the problem immediately and fix it by the end of the day. Friendly, knowledgeable and all at a fair price - if we lived here, they would definitely be our regular service providers. Thanks to Randy, Lee and the guys!

I met a technician from this shop randomly one day at an auto parts store and asked him questions about this CCS and he spoke so highly of it, it was just ingrained in my memory should I ever need service and that day finally came. I always took my Acura to the dealer until I had a catastrophic failure that left me stranded and I needed to have it towed. So I decided let me try them. The person I was in contact with was Kris (hopefully that spelling is correct). She could not have been more AMAZING! Extremely informative, communicative and above all else PATIENT with me and my plethora of questions and concerns. Sometimes even answering questions or concerns I didn't even think to ask! That's how thorough she is! The work I needed to have done is more than what my finances can handle at this time but without a doubt I WILL be getting my Acura repaired at this shop based simply on my experiences with her. Above & Beyond is the only thing that keeps coming to mind. If customer service is something you value (like myself), I'd highly recommend going here! I'll update on the repair side when I get them completed. However, I was so impressed outside of that, I just had to give kudos!

Enough cannot be said about Compact Car Service. Both me and my mother have been taking our cars here for almost 20 years. The quality of work is fantastic along with the customer service, reliability, and honesty. I don’t have to worry about getting screwed into a repair I don’t need, I don’t need to worry about the correct work being done, I don’t have to worry about anything with this shop. They even send me emails for services that need to be done. If they tell me something needs to be repaired, I ask no questions because I fully trust them and they’re prices are fair. There is literally no place else to go for your car service needs. I could not be happier with Compact Car Service.

If you own an Acura or Honda and are not having it serviced here you are overpaying for inferior service. ** so I thought it was time for a 10 year update. These folks have serviced two cars for me. I have summarily Been happy with every encounter I have with them. A couple of things. If you’re looking for a mechanic with cheap labor, you’ve come to the wrong place. The service technicians here are top-notch. And I am quite sure they are paid very well. So why go here or not a dealer? This is why: you ever go to a dealer for one problem and the service writer comes out with a list of other problems that you have? I can’t count how many times this has happened to me. I always leave knowing I received up to date expert advice from people who enjoy where they work. When you go to Compact Cars, you will get the service you need. You will never be up sold. You will be given an honest appraisal as to whether your repair needs to be done immediately or if you can wait, how long you can safely put it off. Randy does not employ second rate mechanics, so honestly, I Suspect your labor cost will not be different from a Honda dealer. But I know I have saved a ton of money here because I’m only charged for services. I really need. I don’t know about you, but I got tired of the service rider at Honda dealers coming up to me with a clipboard with three pages of crap on it More over, once you’re with them for a while you feel like you’re part of a family. I have never once, ever, walked out of there feeling that I have paid for something that I didn’t need. So To summarize: if you’re looking for a cheap mechanic, keep looking. If you’re looking for competent service. To be told truthfully what you’re going to need and not need without being upsold I absolutely guarantee you will be happy with these folks.

We’ve been bringing our Honda vehicles here for years. Their work is always effective. We’ve never left and had a problem as has happened at other garages. Their prices are fair and everyone here is kind and professional and extremely patient.

I would highly recommend this place. The employees appear very honest in communicating what services are necessary. Although we had a miscommunication in the services that I was coming in for, they worked with me and appropriately charged me. It is nice to go to a place that specializes in Hondas and Acuras but avoid the crazy prices and recommendations at a dealership. I will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone! Just will make sure I confirm the services I am getting the next time I go.

First time using these guys. Service is 1000% better than our local dealership. Randy discussed charges and concerns with me prior to visiting shop. Day of repair I received a quote and great recommendation for increasing my cars longevity. Service was prompt, car was ready on time , waiting room and restrooms were clean and orderly. Prices were reasonable.

15 years of superb service! Of all the things a family of five needs, a safe reliable car is in the top 10. Compact has serviced my Honda minivans for 15 years. They are a beautiful family owned business and experts in their field. I trust them with my kids! The service and pricing is A class as well.

I'm so glad I learned about CCS a few years ago. Their quality workmanship, communication, transparency, and professionalism are on par (if not better) than any Honda dealership I've dealt with. They charge a fair/reasonable hourly labor rate that is roughly half of what a dealer Honda would try to charge. I plan to have them exclusively continue to service my Hondas for years to come. If you live in the Charlotte Area and drive Hondas, do yourself and your wallet a favor, and use CCS!

Updated 4/21/25 2nd visit: Just took my 2009 Honda CRV back to have it serviced before a road trip. I had an appt. In and out in an hour. Oil & filter change, tire rotation and pressure check, replaced bulb at tag, checked over everything and OK'd for trip. Zero trying to upsell me. Very reasonably priced and most of all I trust them. Staff were very nice and friendly again. They will continue to be my go to! My 1st time having work done here on my 2009 Honda CRV. I had heard good things about Compact Car Services and I understand why! They will be my go to Honda repair shop for both my Hondas from now on. Work was completed quickly and I was charged less than I was quoted, which was a pleasant surprise! Everyone there was pleasant and helpful.

I’ve been a customer of Compact Car Service for four years. They’ve done a fantastic job every time. Had my timing belt changed and a oil leak fixed. Don’t hesitate to take your Honda to Compact Car Service. They know what they’re doing.

I am a new customer of Compact Car Services. After receiving very positive recommendations from friends, I took my Honda in for 100k routine maintenance. Everything went well and Compact saved me hundreds over the dealer quote. But things got even better. The next week my AC stopped working and I took it to Compact for repair. They inspected the unit and found no leaks and were willing to recharge the system. Before doing so, they told me that there was a service bulletin and extended warranty on a part of the AC unit. They suggested that I first take it to the Honda dealership and Honda might repair it for free. And Honda did repair it at no cost to me. This speaks so strongly to Compact Car Services integrity and customer first approach. Thank you Compact Car Services!

I'm a longtime Acura fan and was sent over to Compact Cars. I've been told their technicans are top notch. I chatted with Lee last week about a problem with my Acura TL. He was super accommodating and patient, really going above and beyond to help. I sent him a video diagnostic I got from Hendrick Honda for a second opinion. He actually took the time to watch it and talked to his lead technician, Garrett, before getting back to me about a possible recall on the issue. It's not every day you find a shop that provides this level of consult at no cost! I'm definitely taking all my future Acuras to Compact Cars going forward!

Absolutely ridiculous experience. This place is insanely overpriced and the staff became rude and dismissive the moment I decided not to move forward with service. Charging $90 for windshield wipers is laughable. They also charge $78 for an estimate! To make it worse, they took their sweet time giving my keys back, which felt intentional and unprofessional. I should never feel awkward or pressured for declining unnecessary or overpriced services. There are plenty of car places that treat customers with respect and don’t try to strong-arm them into absurd charges this is not one of them. Save your money and your patience and go literally anywhere else.

I recently was awarded a $5,000 judgment in Mecklenburg County Small Claims Court against Compact Car Service. Anyone can search up the case. That introduction likely says enough, but I would not recommend you bring your car here for service. In June, Compact Car Service replaced the front axles on my 2014 Honda Civic, a car that has an automatic transmission. However, instead of installing axles meant for an automatic transmission vehicle, they installed axles meant for a manual transmission vehicle. I had two different shops diagnose this same error, including an actual Honda dealership. As a result of the wrong axles being installed, my car was completely destroyed, I broke down on the side of the road in a different state and had to have an entirely new transmission installed after having the car towed back to my house. This was an extremely expensive and time-consuming endeavor. I had been taking my Civics to Compact Car Service for seven years prior to this error with only good things to say, and I completely understand that mistakes happen. The most egregious part of the entire experience was their response. When I reached out to Compact Car Service informing them of the error, they informed me that there was no possibility they could be responsible and would take no steps to even look at the car or acknowledge the possibility. Since they would not acknowledge any possibility of wrongdoing, I was forced to file a lawsuit. Compact Car Service, I imagine through their insurance company, brought a team of lawyers to argue that no wrongdoing had occurred. Fortunately, the judge agreed with the findings of the other mechanics, and they were obligated to make a $5,000 payment (an amount that does not come close to making me whole, but at least it's done now). If you come here, hopefully nothing goes wrong with your car because if it does, it will be a six-month legal battle and extremely expensive to get them to take any form of accountability. I imagine someone from the company will contest the contents of this review, but the case and its conclusion are public record for anyone to see for themselves. I advise in the future that Compact Car Service understands that mistakes can occur and at least tries to act like the responsible small business they claim to be.

If you own a Honda or Acura, you need to know these guys. They know Hondas, what tends to go wrong and what it will take to get you safely back on the road. They will patiently explain what needs to be done and what doesn't need to be done right away. Now that you know about Compact Car Services, you have a shop you can trust and you will never have to deal with dealership nonsense ever again.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Service at Compact Cars! I had an excellent experience with the team at Compact Cars. A special thank you to Steve Gay, Lee Gast (Service Advisor), and Garrett (Senior Service Mechanic) for their professionalism and dedication. From the moment I walked in, the customer service was top-tier. Steve kept me fully informed throughout the entire process, explaining everything clearly and making sure I understood my options. Garrett’s mechanical expertise was evident — he diagnosed the issue accurately and got the work done right. Steve made sure everything ran smoothly and ensured I was completely satisfied before leaving. What impressed me most was their honesty, transparency, and commitment to doing quality work — no pressure, no unnecessary upselling, just straight professionalism. If you’re looking for a trustworthy, knowledgeable, and customer-focused auto service team, I highly recommend Compact Cars. They truly go above and beyond! — Lloyd Bastfield
