The team at Cottman exceeds expectations each time. They are one of the fairest and most competent shops in Lancaster. We had an issue where my daughter's car was having issues while at college in Philly. The local shop in Philly told her she needed a new transmission for $2500. We spoke with Cottman and they wanted to see the car since they had worked on it recently and did not believe a new transmission was needed... THEY WERE RIGHT... they saved us almost $2000!!! Will use Cottman for years to come.

Good and quick service, everywhere else would take a week or more to fix, only a day and half for a new clutch kit and flywheel. Shaun was very helpful and explained everything that was done and even fixed lug nuts on tire. Nice place would use them again.

My Tranmission started going out was making a whinnying noise I had purchased extra warranty (Carsheild) just in case something went wrong I only had a 30 day warranty from dealer but Scott from Cottman made everything so smooth and he works with Carsheild so he even took care of all pics and papper work only thing I had to do is answer a call from Carsheild saying my claim went through so Scott ordered Tranmission and came in same day got me in in a few days so I highly recommend Cottman Tranmission for any work

There was an issue with my car making it difficult to diagnose and the people at cottmam came through with flying colors it was very stressful due to defective parts purchased from a local auto part store but they coordinated the repair and worked it out with the parts seller keeping me informed from start to finish providing realistic time frames not empty promises. Their prices are fair and I can confidently say they are trustworthy and make every effort to give the best service and that's not typically the case in the auto repair business and that's exactly why I highly recommend them to anyone looking for transmission repair. I can't speak for every location but on ross st in Lancaster cottman deserves a well earned 5 star rating!

I highly recommend Cottman's for transmission repairs/service. I had a transmission leak that led to my car not working. I filled it with non-Honda brand fluid, that my manual said would have to get flushed out. I called about 7 car shops until I came across Cottman's...Scott was the first genuinely helpful person I came across. He was able to get my car in right away, diagnose the problem (for free!), and fixed the leak. Everything was handled in a professional and timely manner, and the cost was Very reasonable...Scott even checked around first to make sure it was absolutely necessary to replace the radiator, or just the cooling lines between the transmission and radiator, so that he could possibly save me from having to pay so much. Also, he saved me from having to flush out the fluid I had just put in because he said older cars aren't as picky on the fluid...without his knowledge I would've paid someone over $100 to flush it out, which turns out is not even necessary! On a separate occasion, I was concerned about a noise my car was making and he checked it the next day, totally free of charge! I highly recommend Cottman's...very genuine, helpful, and you don't get ripped off at all.

This place is AMAZING! Scott will treat you with respect and will go over and beyond to get you back on the road as quickly as possible. I had trouble with my car's transmission when I was visiting Lancaster and was stuck in the middle of nowhere but Cottman Lancaster took very good care of me and helped me out in every possible way. This place is all about fixing problems and not just another money making business. The situation I was in, they could have easily made a huge bill but they did not, instead they genuinely helped me fix my problem. I would recommend this place to anyone who is in need of auto/transmission services

Scott was the main contact at the garage. I was referred by my main garage to get transmission work done but the problem ended up not being transmission but the hub bearing. The experience working with Cottman was awful. Scott continually misquoted me and overcharged me from the initial quote. I showed up then to pick my car up and he did not have half of the work done that he told me that he would do. He kept my car for an entire week and weekend which put me out of work because I use my car for my job. Confronted him about my concerns and the fact that he overcharged us and he did not do anything about it. I will not be bringing my car back to Cottman and will never recommend people to work with them.

Nicest auto mechanic ever. Very personal touch, actually cared about the vehicle. Gave me his cell phone number and sent me a text with a rundown of what he found. The issue my car had ended up not being a transmission issue and he even offered to drive the car to another shop for me that specialized in the issue my car was having (sensor issue). Really fantastic, highly recommend.

What a refreshing experience it was to deal with the owner Scott. He was so helpful in diagnosing the problem and was more than willing to take multiple questions and phone calls. Always professional and gracious. In the end, it wasn’t a fix he could do at his shop and he didn’t charge anything at all for the diagnostic. We are not from the area and didn’t know where to take our car. Glad we went here! It was such a pleasure to deal with an honest and knowledgeable person.

It is very hard to find a trustworthy mechanic. After my truck being held at a mechanic for 6mo and then not doing any work to it and driving it without my consent, I felt like I would never get my car back on the road Then I found Cottman's (Scott) was so nice and helpful he was in constant communication with me and let me know when my truck would be finished. My car transmission failed on a Friday night while traveling through Lancaster. Found them via a Google search and left it there. My son who lives in Lancaster dropped the keys off Monday morning. The diagnosis was done that morning and I received a phone call with the issue and my solutions. New transmission was ordered and installed within a week after they estimated two weeks. The owner call to let me know it was done and when I asked to pick it up Saturday because we live near Philly he made the time to meet us there on his day off! He also kept my car inside during the snow! Excellent customer service! I wish they were closer to me, I’d have all my repairs done there. I highly recommend!!

Ava and Joe were so helpful! I needed my oil changed asap and they fit me into their schedule super quickly! They did a visual inspection of my car and let me know of all the things that i need to get work on. The entire staff was super friendly and chatted with me while I waited.
