Repairs were done on time and within the quoted price. Chris, the mechanic is very knowledgeable and explained the repairs needed in a way that we understood.

Great business. My car would not back up. I went to Custom Concepts and they changed my transmission fluid. Yes, not a thing to do in a BMW, but it worked. My car is backing up now. Please note: There is another person named Joyce Hand in Greensboro. I am Joyce Marie Hand. I'm not sure how to change it on Google.

This review has been on my mind since I had my car worked on in April. This would be my second e46. I had already done a complete rear end refresh on my first, dropped the subframe and redid the bushings with solid aluminum so it wouldn’t tear out. I had just acquired a 2000 328i(2nd e46) and accidentally tore out the rear subframe. I found out after buying wheels for it and doing a victory donut. I’ve had 9 old cars so far and done all work needed myself, from changing oil to rebuilding a junkyard motor and swapping it so I had the means to do this job… Except I didn’t have my own welder at the time(and I am a welder🤦♂️) so I needed to find someone with one not bought from harbor freight. I called around asking who would take my car in to look at it and someone referred me to these guys. I was only looking for the subframe reinforcements at first since I’d swap the bushings myself but I figured they’ll have it out already might as well throw in the bushings. They had the car on the lift and saw where it tore out and quoted me for welding it back in with reinforcement plates and doing the bushings with the subframe out. They said it would be about three days of work which was okay with me because I could afford to find a ride to work until then. Since I had already dropped the subframe in my first e46 and replaced the bushings which took me a day and a half by myself with a lift and basic tools, one or two made at home to pull and press said bushings, adding in the welding to it, it would’ve taken me another hour or two on top of that. So three days wasn’t outrageous for a shop with other jobs. I had scheduled the work to be done a month in advance so they’d have a clear schedule to focus on the job in the time frame given as I live far from my work and need my car. Monday, April 15th I dropped my car off after work feeling confident they’ll do a good job as I’m a pretty positive person even though nobody’s ever touched one of my cars before. Wednesday April 18th My car SHOULD be done. I called and asked for an update or if they were done and they said something along the lines of oh we’re gonna finish it tomorrow they’re just bolting something up or something(it was months ago bear with me) okay no problem, they might be a bit busy that’s cool. I called again on Thursday and same thing “oh they’re putting the brakes back on yadda yadda” okay fine whatever that’s cool. The next week Monday came another excuse. At this point I’m irritated because I’ve had to pay a lot more for rides to work than just gas and I’d have had it done that weekend no problem. April 26th after calling after work multiple times, getting the same vague responses they said my car should be done by the end of the day positive. So I showed up to make sure my car would be finished and waited a couple hours in the lobby. Around their closing time it was done and aligned and they wanted me to test drive it. It drove a bit better since my stiffer sway bars were no longer doing the work of keeping my rear end in place. After putting it on my own lift and looking at what they did I was horrified. Cold, lacking penetration welds, not welded in some sections. They cracked my differential support under the nut that bolts the subframe up and replaced the four center screws with ace hardware junk, and they didn’t put the heat shield back on it, stripped out one of the bolts that hold rear alignment, stretched my brake lines and let it all hang from them (I have pictures in my email too), and stretched my handbrake lines. I paid them which I didn’t want to but I just wanted my car back from these guys so I could do it right. In hindsight I could’ve bought my own welder with the money but whatever it was a learning experience. If they told me this was more than they’d anticipated and gave me my car back to do it myself instead of butchering my baby, all would’ve been at peace. At the very least honesty would go a long way. Instead they dragged it along for so long and did a bad job. First and last time I ever bring my car to someone else.

The only thing this place is qualified for is oil changes and alignments. Nothing more. I’m leaving another review because this is ridiculous. A year later and I’m still having issues with their bad job on my car. I’ve replaced the differential multiple times by now because I switch back and forth and this place does NOT deserve to be called custom concepts. The only thing Custom about the Concept of what they did to my car was the botched welds they did. Removing my subframe yet again to tighten the studs holding it in because they were too dim to search up how to remove and fix it in the first place. I wish I never brought my car here. The studs are giving out because every time I go to swap my diff the whole things comes out. Thanks guys. In the time I’ve waited for these people to finish my car I could’ve afforded to take it to a real race shop in Ohio but I have a job to get to and from. These people screwed me over and I’m out ~$2300 THANKS Posting from under the car with subframe removed, 4 hours it took me. Do better “cUsTOm ConCePtS”

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I was overwhelmed and stressed out at the noise my car was making, it sounded so unsafe and turns out it was. A bolt had broken loose from my strut. Thankfully Richard and the team got me in quickly and they are fairly priced. I can’t thank them enough for getting me back on the road! Definitely would recommend to everyone

My experience with Custom Concepts Automotive has been one of the most frustrating and financially damaging situations I have ever encountered with a repair shop. I hired them to install an engine in my 2013 BMW with the clear expectation that the vehicle would be restored to proper working condition. Instead, they installed a 2014 engine, and from the moment I got the car back, it has never run properly. The vehicle continues to have serious performance issues and will not pass inspection — defeating the entire purpose of paying for an engine replacement. When I raised these concerns, I was told the engine was not the problem and that other surrounding components were to blame. Seeking clarity, I took the vehicle to two independent BMW-specialized shops: Flow BMW and Northwest Motor Works in Winston-Salem, NC. Both indicated that the engine was the likely source of the problem, and their assessments were documented on invoices. Despite presenting written documentation from two BMW-focused shops, I was unable to reach any meaningful resolution. I ultimately pursued the matter in court, believing the evidence supported my claim. Although the judge did not rule in my favor, that legal outcome does not change the fact that my vehicle has not functioned properly since the engine installation. The bottom line: I paid for an engine replacement and was left with a car that still does not run correctly and cannot pass inspection. That is my real-world experience. If you are considering major engine work, I strongly recommend getting every detail in writing, verifying compatibility, and obtaining independent opinions before proceeding. Based on my experience, I would not trust this shop with another major repair. Maybe an oil change “Not”. Stay away from these guys, in my opinion.!!!
