Dave was amazing, and enjoys what he does. I had an intercooler boot work loose after some spotty dealership work, I called Dave, driving down I-8, he helped me diagnose it and was waiting for me to show up at his shop (after hours), had me fixed up and on the road. Saved our trip! Amazing shop!

6/20/2022 If you're second guessing, don't. I came to them to have my breaks replaced. I got a fair price and the technicians worked extremely fast. They did quality work and made me feel at home. A1 Service. I will definitely go back in the future. 1/3/2023 I returned for some additional work and service was even better the second time around. A++ service every time.

I ordered a Titan fuel tank from Dave to replace my stock F-250 tank in preparation for a move to Texas. Dave got it ordered right away and immediately communicated that the tank was on back order. Unfortunately the tank did not make it in before I had to move but this was no fault of Daves. He constantly pushed me updates and when we realized the timing wasn’t going to work he cancelled the order and refunded me for the tank. Dave was very professional throughout the whole process. If I am ever back in Yuma and need a good Diesel Mech, Diesel Performance Specialists will be the first place I call!

We broke down in Yuma on 12/21/20, after driving 4 days from TX. We had been using 1 qt oil every 40 miles & the oil lost was clogging the filter. By Yuma, the engine would go no more. Dave was nice enough to come out & send a tow truck for us. We were stranded 30 hrs in his parking lot. He ran diagnostics & worked on several other vehicles. The next day, he removed the problem filter, but did not resolve the oil leak at all. He charged us $3000+. On the way to Orange County, we continued to lose 1 qt oil per 50 miles. In Orange C. Sprinter place found dry leaky hoses & crimped hose. Replaced & charged $900 for parts & 4 days labor.

Picked up my 2016 F350 after having a Titan 60 gallon fuel tank installed to replace the factory 26 gallon tank, and having airbags installed on the rear-end. I had the pleasure of dealing with Dave the owner. The job ended up being bigger than he had thought due to the Reese 5th wheel mount, but he put in a lot of extra hours working late into the night to get it done. I was very impressed that he stood by his quote when I picked it up. In this day and age, it is hard to find someone with integrity and who takes pride in his work. I highly recommend Diesel Performance Specialists.

We had a bad knock in our 2005 Dodge Cummins Diesel Dually 3500. Dave Acosta was recommended by several shops around Yuma, and we called him up. He had the truck towed to his shop, diagnosed the problem, and then got to work fixing it. It was a fairly serious problem, but Dave tore it down and got the problem fixed. He had us drive it for 500 miles as a break-in, then re-checked the engine and did the final adjustments. Now, several thousand miles later, it is still running like a dream. We HIGHLY recommend Diesel Performance Specialist Dave Acosta for all of your diesel work. Bob and Sandra Mead, Yuma AZ

I contacted Dave to get my motor home diagnosed and an estimate to my warranty company (on a hydraulic leak related to my slides). They did show up to look at it one evening, but didn't let anyone know they were there and left before we could get the keys outside. Unfortunately, I've called and text numerous times with no answer or response, and a voicemail that says to text him. Multiple attempts to reschedule have led me here. Save yourself the time and frustration.

DO NOT USE THIS SHOP... I took my F350 in for exhaust manifold studs broken, after 3 months Dave told me he had the head off, he did not, he had not even touched the engine. I noticed I had a flat tire witch I did not have ever, I asked him to fill up the tire, well 3 weeks later the tire is still flat, when I show up to tow it to another shop he drug the truck out front with a flat tire, no respect or concern. At 3:10 Diesel who I highly recommend, they found a 7/16 bolt in the tire. I was lucky enough to plug it, the tires are vet expensive now I have a plug!!! If you try to call him his phone goes to voicemail that is not set up yet? That should be a big red flag... DO NOT USE THIS SHOP... 10/20/2023 UPDATE: Not only did Dave have my truck for 3 months it sat out front of his shop with the hood propped up and now I have a severe enfine oil leak that we have been trying to find, after deep diagnoses they found the rear main seal had dried up and failed and has to be replaced, also when he towed my truck out to the street with a flat he damaged the TPS sensor in the tire and has to be replaced. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHOP...

My motorhome DEF system died. Dave jumped on it, ordered the parts, and had us back on the road in no time. He is definitely not afraid of a difficult task.

I have never written any review on anything until now, Dave or whoever owns this place is an absolute joke. All the one star reviews that complain about leaks, lack of communication, or just being dishonest and straightforward are true. One of my trucks was at his shop for almost 2 years when I had a fluctuating RPM problem and when I said “take your time” he literally took his time. When I had just about enough with this guy he had the fortitude to still charge me 800 dollars for a problem he didn’t fix! Apparently hooking up a computer costs 800 dollars and my invoice doesn’t even show an accurate breakdown of any of the work that had been done! My girlfriend decided to pay the 800 dollars for absolutely nothing because she knew I was way beyond pissed off and knew how frustrated and irritated I was with him. My truck came back to me never fixed, I never was told anything about the work that was supposedly being performed and was charged 800 dollars for what I can gather was a freaking storage fee! Nothing but excuses when it comes to Dave! Now that I have my truck back and looked it over I noticed a number of loose bolts and missing P-clamps and hose clamps and a major leak on my power steering pump when the initial problem was nowhere near the power steering pump. Seriously do yourself a favor and stay away from this joke of a shop!

I had a problem with my electrical tow hook up on my motor home. I took it first to another place and they spent 3 1/2 hrs on it trying to fix it. I told them when I got there that the problem was in a transmitter box according to a previous shop. They paid no attention to what I said. When I got it back it was worse than when I got there. I got ahold of Miguel at Diesel Performance and had him come look at it. I told him about the electrical box problem,he listened checked out the box and concluded yes that it was bad. He ordered the parts to replace that one, and straightened out the wires that the previous shop cut into. He spent about an hour total between the two trips to where we had the motor home parked. He fixed all of our electrical problems. I will recommend them to anyone, Miguel did a great job and price was reasonable.

Get a quote for the work you want done , got a fuel filter changed on a ford transit diesel (had my own filter),15 minutes work . Asked how much $200 dollars. He said $200 minimum charge per hour. My mistake was not getting a quote before he started . He felt bad when I told him I could have got it done at the dealer with the filter included. He knocked it down to $160 for the 15 minutes of work . My advice is just drive by this place and look for a reputable repair place to service your diesel

Dave and his crew are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Above all he is honest about what you need and how to treat your diesel engine. My engine had DPS build up as well as some clogged filters(which I paid to have changed but wasn't done by the dealership) 1 day with Dave and presto 💪🙏 Thanks again 👍

I'm thoroughly impressed with the diesel mechanic shop in Yuma that worked on my 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD. Their expertise and attention to detail are top-notch. They quickly diagnosed the issue and provided a fair estimate. The work was done efficiently, and my truck is running smoothly again. The team is knowledgeable, friendly, and truly cares about their customers. If you're in Yuma and need diesel repair, I highly recommend them. Five stars isn't enough.

If he doesn't fix it right the first time, good luck trying to get it fixed. It's really overpriced. Would be worth it if he wast rude and fixed the warranty issues in a timely manner. Since my issue was under warranty and he wasn't gonna get paid anymore, he would only work on my truck until he finished with paying customers. I had a complete engine overhaul, I probably didn't need it, but he suggested it, so I thought he would do a great job.. It took 4 months for him to finish, and when I finally got it was leaking like crazy. I brought it back 3 different times And it seems like he didn't even look it over. Like if he was just changing what he thought would be wrong or I doubt he even looked at it. After having enough of his attitude I took it to another shop. They actually took the time to look it over and figured out it was the tappet seal. Its been running good with no leaks for 3 months now. His helper actually told me the 1st time I brought it back that he thought it was the tappet seal, so I don't know what happened with that . He either ignored his helper or just ignored my truck. All 3 times he said it was my dipstick O ring or my rear main seal. The photos shown are from just driving it down the street. Thats the huge puddle of oil it would leave while being parked. So if you see a puddle like this in a parking lot I was probably there for at least 15 minutes. All 3 times that I took it he said that he test drove it and checked it for leaks But obviously he lied. Other than this bad experience the truck is running good so I'll give him that. But it has not been a pleasure to work whith David (the owner)to be honest. 40,000 mile review This guy (David) did a complete engine overhaul haul, and now my crank is broken. Didn't even last 40k. Horrible service, horrible work. I wouldn't recommend this shop to my worst enemy. A BRAND NEW ENGINE SHOULD NOT HAVE ALL THE EXCESSIVE BLOWBY IT WAS HAVING. My brother had the same horrible experience on some work David did for him also. As soon as he gets paid he just washes his hands of all the problems. I hope he wasn't swapping my new parts for old parts he has lying around in his shop. He says he uses all new hoses and gaskets but is questionable. He sure charges like he uses everything new. Both my radiator hoses blew a couple of months after he worked on it. Oil pan had a small leak, excessive blowby, leaking oil from the turbo. Do not bring your truck here. Waste of money. I bought a towing cam and bigger injectors and I'm questioning if he even put them in or just used the old parts. And NO, it was never low on oil, thanks to you, I checked the oil constantly because of all the leaks when you first worked on it. I hope no one else has such a bad experience. On another occasion, my buddy brought his truck in for loss of power. David, according to his expert diagnosis, changed the turbo and a few other parts. After getting the truck back and still having the same issue, he went to another mechanic (3:10 deisel works) and it turned out it was just a sensor. He just sees people who walk in to his shop as dollar signs, is what it seems like. You have to be good at your trade if you are charging that much.

Dave, the owner, is a great human being. Runs a clean shop. Met him a few weeks ago. From my career in law enforcement, I'm a pretty good judge of people. All Dave did for me was an oil change, but he checked out my entire 3500 Ram dually. He runs a tight ship. His guys are knowledgeable and hard working. Will return again. He will spend time talking to you which most businesses don't. Thanks Dave also for the advice on better living. Your the man sir!

Huge thanks to Dave and his crew, who came to my father’s home (4 times) to work on his 2001 diesel Ford truck, which hadn’t had air or gas filters for years, among other issues! Their excellent standard of service and human kindness shown towards my hard of hearing 90 year old father is a business model to be proud of. Thanks again!
