Bought a car here, one day after the purchase I got a notification from my insurance company saying the car has an open recall that was left unattended for two years. Ten days after the purchase, the A/C stopped working (no A/C, no heater in Chicago’s weather). When asked about it, they want to charge me for fixing it. The car was also given to me very dirty, with spider webs and bugs everywhere. In general, I am not happy with the purchase, I even regret doing business here. They don’t seem to take care of the vehicles while they have them

Day 1, I had a good test drive, but the car needed repair and they fixed it, the only reason I’m giving two stars. On day 2, I thought the deal was done, but the minute I asked Juan (my salesperson) what the extra $1,000 “AIP” fee was for on my bill sheet and he told me the AIP fee was their “Franchise fee,” I was done!!!! I knew that I wouldn’t do a deal with them. Had never heard of such a thing. I didn’t embarrass him, but I knew that I would leave him a nice review regarding what he tried to pull on me. His manager came over at my request and explained that the fee was indeed NOT a franchise fee (🤣🤣🤣 as if I actually believed Juan), but it was interior protection warranty cost that would cover cost of leather repairs and such - in which Juan continuously tried to TALK OVER his manager restating “franchise fee, franchise fee,” in hopes that his manager would go along with the lie. I asked the manager to remove it - the manager said he could remove half the cost. LOL, laughable. Imagine someone trying to outsmart you and tell you that the protection package is a franchise fee, and to add insult to injury - the manager that I thought was a nice guy - returned to tell me that he can only take half ($500) of the fee off and not remove the entire OPTION!!!! OPTION!!! It’s a warranty, I don’t want it. Why not just remove it at my many requests?!?! Nearly a 2 hour drive - just for games. Dishonesty will get salespeople nowhere in the long run.

First of all, extremely ghetto and run down. The little kid area looked like they got all their toys from the dumpster. Trash and debris all over their toys and disgusting rug. The cable was hanging lower than the TV which is a huge choking risk for a kids room. Regardless of the room, they tried to pass off a barely 6,000 worth vehicle (that had incredible damage like paint dried, carpet ripping up and run down) as 10,000 and as we declined that offer they tried to force us into their financing option. The small man refused to stop asking me about it until I practically stormed out. They are insulting and very very pushy. Very sleezy auto dealer. Would never recommend this place, not even to my worst enemy.

When I called them telling them I was interested in a specific model, they started having an AI chat bot text me about what kind of car I was looking for. Before we drove from WI, I called and asked what sort of fee's we be looking at. I was told there was only $350 in fee's, but later found out it had $700 in registration and tax, $367 in Doc fee, and another $995 for interior protection. This is when I should have walked away. Unfortunately, my wife was sold on that car so we ended up buying our Jaguar F-Pace on 10/25. They then called me 3 days later to ask for more info on what kind of car we were looking to buy.... On 11/3 the coolant light came on. We were optimistic and just topped it off. How could it have a leak after just a week, surely the dealer would have caught this in their multi-point inspection and service before selling? Now that we knew it was leaking, we looked under where it was parked and sure enough we had a large puddle. The coolant light came back on a week later and we added more coolant. We contacted our salesman Juan at Elgin Auto on 11/11 to let them know of the issue and see if they could help. I saw where the leak was coming from and called our local Jaguar dealer, they told me that it's a very common problem and that it will need about $800 in updated metal hoses to replace the plastic ones that crack and leak. Juan said on the 12th he would have a manager get back to me after 2pm. By the 14th I still hadn't got a call back. I called and spoke to a manager on the 14th, he said we could make the 6 hour round trip drive and he would replace the upper leaky hose with the same plastic version that broke the first time. I said if that's all you'll do then just send me the hose so I can save 6 hours driving and swap it myself (the upper hose was very accessible and easy to swap). On the 14th I contacted them to confirm they'd be sending the part and asked for tracking info. On the 15th I asked again and they said they didn't have tracking info but it would be to me by the 21st or 22nd at the latest. On the 24th, still no part so I asked for tracking info again. They told me "oops we sent it to the wrong address, we'll resend it... which part did you need again?" Obviously they never sent it. I reminded him that I sent him a picture of the hose a week ago. I also told him that it's been a month and I still didn't have plates or registration which they said would take 2-3 weeks. On the 25th I asked Juan if he got anywhere with the DMV on the status of my plates and he said he's waiting on a reply from the Secretary of Wisconsin(??). On the 28th the plates did show up, but I never got a follow up from the dealer about the plates/DMV. The hose also showed up, but it was the wrong part and looked nothing like the picture I sent them. At this point I had lost all faith in Elgin Auto and took it to our local dealer to make sure there weren't any other surprises with the car. After waiting for an appointment, we got the car looked at on 12/8. The coolant was leaking from 2 hoses and the water pump. The rear brake pads were down below 2mm and were listed as critical. The 80,000 service was never done and it needed new spark plugs or it could destroy the engine if one failed. They had pictures confirming the leaks and brake pads so I took their word on the spark plugs. Total cost was $8,000. I called Elgin on 12/8 and left a message for the manager to get back to me and see what we could do. My wife needed her car so we approved the repairs since I had lost all faith in Elgin Auto to fix it correctly for us even if we brought it back to them. A competent dealer would have caught the brake pads, the leaks, and the skipped service at 80k miles. An honest dealer would have fixed them or told us about them before selling it. Elgin Auto is neither. It's been 8 days and they still haven't even called me back, they never do. 0/5 stars (I'm putting 2 stars because companies can get 1 star reviews removed pretty easily) Merry Christmas, Christian Horn
