I was driving up from New Jersey to drop my son off at Northeastern today. On the way, the Hot Transmission Oil light came on and also the check engine light. Once we got to Boston, I stopped at Ell-Bern and they were so nice and helpful. I really appreciated their kindness during a very stressful situation! Thank you!!

Very bad experience. I came to get my brand new car inspected yesterday. It was quite late in the day, so I was very thankful that they were able to fit me in before they closed. The gentleman at the shop took my car back and did the inspection, but when he brought it out, I saw he had tracked a bunch of dirt and dust into the vehicle. I asked if he had a rag or a wipe to wipe up all of the dust. He replied by saying: “What do you expect when you take your car to get inspected? What do you expect when you take your car to the dealership? It’s going to get dirty. Do you expect me to wear a white suit and go into your car to do the inspection?” I responded by saying that I expect my car to be given back to me the way it was brought in. He then said “I’m not going to help you. I don’t have time for you, leave or go complain to the woman in the shop.” The woman in the shop looked at the car and although it seemed like she was also annoyed, she did actually help. The cleaning job was done poorly and with a dirty rag, but I was so flustered and confused as to why someone would act this way after I asked for something so simple. I know inspections are state mandated, but I won’t be coming back to this business and don’t believe anyone should go here if they care about their vehicle.

Came in for the first time due to a persistent tire leak. The problem was quickly identified, they showed me where the previous repair had failed, and installed a new tire for a fair price. I had to come in a second time due to a rattling noise from my exhaust. They lifted the car, identified the problem, and while they were unable to repair the exhaust (it's requires an extensive rebuild), they did not charge me a dollar and for a second time were prompt, honest, and friendly.

Unfortunately they left my car unlocked overnight and someone rifled through all my things and left everything in a pile across the front seats. I'm talking emptied the glove box, console, both doors and even went through Goodwill donations I had in the back seat. They made a huge mess and stole a few things, luckily I didn't keep anything of great value in the car. When I initially saw the mess and asked about it the person I spoke to on the phone said it was probably one of the technicians looking for the hood latch. Then when I realized stuff had gone missing they said they would check the security cameras and call me back. That was almost 2 weeks ago and still haven't heard back. They didn't offer an apology or to replace anything that was stolen, honestly they didn't even sound that surprised that it had happened. Only reason I'm giving them two stars is because up til now they had done good work on my car. It's a shame this experience soiled our relationship.

Excellent location for MA Annual Safety Inspection. Entire process completed in <15 minutes, with comfortable waiting area in the lobby. My prior experience with safety inspections at other shops in Greater Boston meant scheduling an appointment, or dropping car as a walk-in but requiring 1-3 hour wait for staff to have time to get to my car -- Ell-Bern is completely different, as they took my car immediately, and returned it as soon as they were finished with the process. Very fast and professional - I will be coming back here for all future inspections!

I needed a single windshield wiper blade. The employee was helpful and grabbed one for me and asked his boss how much to charge. The boss said $30. I said that was crazy. The boss took the blade out of my hands and said you can go to autozone. So I did and it cost $9.99. I don’t know why he wanted to rip me off so badly.

I’ve always gone to them for inspection, mechanic related, and tire. I really don’t like dealing with mechanics and I feel they can sometimes be dishonest. They patched my tire today and accommodated my early work schedule. They are an honest and helpful team! I recommend to everyone in the neighborhood :)

I had a flat. The guys' customer service was zero. He immediately recommended that I get a new tire when the shop down the road just patched my tire. When I asked him if he could just patch my tire, he became frustrated and told me it wasn't safe. When I asked him again, he quoted me a price that was 15$ higher than the shops around him. When I mentioned this to him, he told me to leave and stop wasting his time. This shop will create problems in your car just to give you a deal to fix it later. If I could give them zero star, I would. These guys give a bad name to all mechanics and should be shut down.

This shop is a joke. I’ve passed inspection here before with just a minor wiper issue, but this time they failed me for the exact same thing unless I bought their $60 wipers on the spot. It’s inconsistent, feels like a money grab, and shows zero professionalism. I won’t trust them again, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone waste their time here.

My car wouldn't start today so I called Ell-Bern - they were able to take my car right away. I had it towed to their shop, they called me shortly after it arrived with the diagnosis and price. It was ready for pick up an hour later! I just needed a new battery. Reasonably priced, easy to get to from the Mass Ave stop on the orange line, and friendly service. I will definitely be going there again in the future.

I went for the annual inspection + oil change. The prices (For oil) are slightly higher compared to other places. $98 for full synthetic (Civic 16) when I usually pay around $70 but, overall no complaints, they work fast!
