I called this facility a week prior to wanting to get a service done. When I contacted them a week prior, they instructed me to come the following week because they would have more techs available. When the following week arrived (Tuesday), I called that Monday and asked if they had more techs and if I could still come, the man told me yes I should be fine. I was the second person that arrived and I just needed my rear brakes changed (I had already purchased the brakes) and the person before and after me were only getting oil changes. I then called around 11am-12pm (I had dropped my car off as soon as they opened) for updates about my car, in which they told me they would be able to still service my car but it would be a wait. They then called me around 2pm and said that I would have to wait the following day or to just try another time. I needed my brakes done immediately and I work multiple jobs so this was a major inconvenience to me. I pleaded with the man on the phone and he told me he could not do it. I felt like it was poor communication on their end like why would you have my car all day when you knew prior you could not do it? I've had issues with this place before but I decided to give them another try. I completely regret my decision. Fortunately, I was able to find a tech nearby who completed the service within 30-45 minutes and did an amazing job! I say all of this to say that I refuse to support a business who shows no remorse and have poor communication because it put a financial strain on me.

I live nearby the shop so I figured that I would give them a try based on reviews and how close they are. I brought my vehicle in for a squealing with my brakes, and they had diagnosed it and upsold me on brake pads. Fine. They had also fixed the squealing but afterwards there was a new rattling sound that occurred and of course I didn’t think it could be the brakes… because they just replaced those!! so I decided to take it to another shop to look at and they begin looking in completely different areas and were unable to figure out why my car was rattling and I’ve already had to spend several hundred dollars on diagnostic labor hours and replacing parts such as struts, suspension, swaybar links…you name it. My mechanic after replacing all of these parts was able to figure out that the brake pads were actually installed incorrectly and are causing a rattle because they didn’t install the metal clip. (This part costs Pennies, comes with the brake pads, and someone incompetent installed them) This just happens to be two years down the road, but I drive very infrequently so I know my pads still have life and the car stops still. Because of their lazy incorrect installation of my brake pads I went down a rabbit hole of other issues that had nothing to do with it, hoping that they would fix whatever was rattling. I called Ellis today to see if there was anything they would do to rectify it and are not willing to help so I don’t recommend this shop to anyone. Take your vehicle to the V.L Carter, right up the road for your car he’s a good guy.

Entire staff is super friendly. Went in for a state inspection and had to wait 3 1/2 hours, but I guess they have a strong customer base and that’s a good thing. I’ll definitely go back again if needed.

I went in with for an oil change, inspection, and brake concern. They called to share inspection findings which aligned to exactly what I already knew I needed, and they didn’t upsell or push anything unnecessary. I appreciated that they gave a clear price and listed my options if I didn’t want them to fix it that day. I felt I was treated fairly and I plan to return to Ellis. Oh and they did it all within the same day. Great experience

Went there through a recommendation to get my inspection done. And it was pretty quick and solid, also pretty affordable. Guy on the phone less pleasing than the rest of the staff I worked with, but still a 5 star experience. Will for sure be back! Google shows two phone numbers listed. Where do I start? Ellis was nothing short of an amazing experience! I was flying in from Chicago to look at a vehicle from a private seller and wanted to find a reputable, trustful mechanic near the airport. I looked at Google reviews and found Ellis. I called ahead to tell them the situation and they stated their shop was first-come-first serve, and to give them a call the same day to verify the busyness of their facility. I landed at RIC airport and called immediately to advise I was on my way in; they stated my vehicle seller was already parked and ready for an inspection. At this point there was only 1 truck ahead of us to be serviced and then we would be next. When I arrived, it was only about a 20min wait and in the meantime, they allowed me to check out the vehicle I wanted to purchase. The nicest gentleman helped us out (I was not able to get his name but he was young, blonde, and blue eyed) Before even starting the service, he helped figure out the tricky sunroof I removed and needed to put back on. He figured it out in no time and then let me record it so I could do it on my own when the time came. Shortly after closing the challenging sunroof, this blonde, blue-eyed beau continued to inspect the van by taking it to the lift. He looked inside and out, up and down and provided his sign-off saying it was in tip-top shape and well maintained. The total inspection was another 20min. All and all Ellis was incredibly personable, quick, efficient, and probably one of the best experiences I have had at a mechanic. If only they were located in Chicago! Thank you for everything, James & the rest of the Ellis team, you all are THE best!

When I walked into the office, I seen 5 or 6 customers in front of me, besides the ones that left as I got there. The gentleman behind the counter was very friendly and was straight up with me and told me that there was 8 people ahead of me. And if I wanted to wait or come back when it's ready. So I left and wanted for the call. They checked everything on my truck and gave me great advice on some future issues that would need attention. They have good people that work here and they care for the safety of their customers. I would definitely come back here for more work to be done to my truck. Thank you's very much ☺️

Went up there was having a no start issue with my truck, was charged 151 for diagnostics. They claimed my starter was bad and wasn't spinning engine( which was wrong), I paid 340 for a new starter put it in myself same issue. I call you there said same issue what I brought it in for so no they playing guess and go tell me 9 times outta 10 it's the flywheel then I'm like huh? Whats make this whole situation crazy is that they never even opened my hood to check anything never even got it in the garage just sent a mechanic out and played sound guess. Moral of the story they refunded me my money back knowing they did nothing ,but I still wasted money on the tow up there for nothing
