Will update my review after picking my sons car up. I'll start by saying I didn't want to go get the car fixed, but CA rules are so broken that my son has to pay a lot to fix his car because we care more about the criminals who steal catalytic converters than the law abiding citizens who pay taxes. However, Todd at Exhaust Works was VERY understanding, and explained all the ins and outs of the situation. The price is steep, however that is a CA thing, not an exhaust works issue. Once the work is done, I will update my review. For now, I'm satisfied so far. Update: (I forgot to do this a long time ago, it really didn't take this long to get the car back) Car was fine in about 3 days. Work was spot on, and Todd was super helpful. For the price, Todd fixed the car, and installed a protector shield to prevent someone from cutting the catalytic converter out again. Not one issue with the work, and the car runs and sounds perfect. I'll definitely come back for any other exhaust work I need done in the future.

Dan runs a busy shop, nice to have a specialist in town. I have an 2000 GMC Yukon that my mechanic couldn't get past the smog inspection (check engine light). He recommended Dan install a new emissions system. Dan investigated and told me it wouldn't solve the problem. He didn't charge me a dime. I value honesty above all and this speaks volumes about Dan.

He found unexpected work as parts are taken off, but never complained. He just put in the extra work to make custom parts and solved problems in his own time. Thanks for fixing my car Todd! Everywhere else I went was trying to screw me for my money! By saying it needs a new assembly, (the Stealership). And smaller shops said they needed to do unessairy work (remove other parts). All which was untrue and inflated the price by 1000s. Todd was honest and new exactly my problem after taking a look, which i pointed out where i seen a broken screw. He doesn't charge to take looks. All other shops had a steep price just to look. My only issue was he charged me a flat rate for an hours worth of work that took him 30mins, and when questioned didn't care to adjust the price. (Replaced 1 broken screw on exhuast manifold) which solved the problem.

Dan's a great guy and a true Craftsman, with reasonable prices. Let's just say he's a little unorthodox, in that he doesn't answer the phone during business hours (voicemail), and tends to open late and work late*, so you need to be flexible for pickup. Highly recommended if you're not on a rigid schedule! *Note the blue tape over the business hours in the picture! 😄

I’m not one to waste time, so sitting down to write this means I’m pretty ticked off. I’m all for backing local spots, so when I heard about this shop—practically in my backyard—I was pumped. Met Dan, a chill guy who’s into cars like me, and the place had this cool, retro garage vibe that hooked me right away. That buzz didn’t last, though. Here’s the deal: We locked in a date a week out after Dan scoped out my ride. He was all confidence, saying he’s the best welder around—fine by me, just back it up. We didn’t pin down a price, but I wasn’t sweating it; I can swing it. My schedule’s tight, though, so I shuffled things around to hit the shop at 5 PM. Made the trek home, grabbed my vehicle, rolled up on time—and Dan’s like, “Not ready, I’ll call you.” Seriously? He had seven days to prep, and I’m half-mad already. Drove home again, waited. 6 PM, zilch. 7 PM, nada. 8 PM, still nothing—now I’m three-quarters steamed. By 9 PM, I said screw it, drove back, and the shop’s dark. No call, no text, no effort—just ghosted. I’d jumped through hoops for this, and Dan left me hanging! If you’ve got a life to run, skip this place! They don’t answer phones, and they certainly don’t keep promises. Dan, man, you blew it! Days later, still no word—no apology, no reschedule, just silence. The guy doesn’t care, plain and simple. Sucks to lose a customer who’d have hyped him up to my whole circle. What a letdown!

Dan has taken over the business from Todd (not his dad). The only way I can describe Dan, is he’s an artist with an eye for the details. His craftsmanship is second to none in the area. I even heard another customer say that he’d driven all the way from south San Jose, because he wouldn’t trust the work to anyone else. This is exactly how I feel. I would not trust my pride and joy to anyone other than Dan. Be patient and let him work his magic.
