I had a very stressful and somewhat rare issue with my car and these guys were so amazing. They helped me figure out what I needed to do and I'm very grateful for their honesty and friendliness.

Way Too expensive to have such horrible customer service. Not understanding at all & I honestly wouldn’t want anybody that doesn’t have morals working on anything I depend on to get around ! They hang up when confronted

Fellows provided excellent service. On top of that they were able to complete a smog check test when another service provider said it wasn’t possible. I definitely will return!

Predatory. I went for smog and got pressured into spending an unnecessary extra $150. An expensive mistake for sure. Kept pushing me even though I only came to get smog done.

I was in Berkeley for work and I was concerned about one of my tires. Fellow’s Auto Repair checked my tires and filled one very low tire full of air for free. They were so kind and truly saved me from ending up on the side of the road. Thank you, Fellow’s!

In February 2016 I had a major repair job done to the tires, wheels and under carriage of my 2014 Dodge Avenger. A few days ago, (April 7th) I heard a strange grinding noise coming from my car's left front tire and I immediately pulled over. But no sooner than I braked to stop my car, the noise disappeared as well. Finally I called around Berkeley to get quotes from three different shops for parts, labor and inspection service for a potential repair on my brakes? Alan answered the phone at Bauer's and he was very professional as well as direct about what services he could provide so I decided to give Bauer's Auto Repair a try because of how professional Alan's response was to my questions. Alan gave me a reasonable quote for service and a couple of hours later they fixed the problem. It turns out that the February 2016 repair work done on my car (by a different shop) was faulty and Alan's team found a "loose bolt" floating around in my wheel well that apparently came loose from the brake assembly. Alan and his team photographed their work and gave me a report. Great service, fair price and (I'm) a happy customer. Since this kind of thing doesn't happen everyday it was pretty amazing to see how much good work went into fixing my car. Thank you Bauer's Auto Repair.

Great place for car maintenance and repair. I've been a loyal customer for years. Usually I just need oil changes - but I've done CV axels, drive belt, alternator and even timing belts here - the work is always quality with a very fair price. The owner Su, is a great guy!! Let them take care of your car and keep it on the road in tip top condition

I made an appointment online a day prior for an oil change and when I got there for the appointment, they wouldn't take me in since they were closing at 4:30 despite the fact that the appointment was at 4:15, I got a confirmation email for the appointment, and online they said they close at 5. They said to come back during their open hours, so I came back that following monday at 12 and asked for an oil change and said they couldn't do it because they were too busy all day. Wish there was a better system set up.

Got a walk-in smog check and it was super quick and simple. Later that morning I drove back needing help attaching license plates to my car and they did it free of charge. Nice guys!

Got tricked into towing my car here by AAA. They don't fix tires. Told me they'd buy a tire from another shop and fix it. Said it would be an hour. Came back an hour and a half later, they still didn't have the tire, and blamed it on the other shop. Guy in charge told me it would be at least another hour. I asked him if there was anything we could do, since I needed to pick my daughter up from school in an hour and he's the one who said it'd be done in an hour almost 2 hours ago. He told me they didn't have the tire. Then he said, "what, do you want to complain or something?" Very cool. Very tough. Need more of that in the world. Waiting to find out how much they overcharge me for the tire.

Brought my car in to get my side mirror replaced. Got my car back with a big new dent in the fender. The new side mirror works fine. If you go here, make sure to take pictures of your car before leaving it with them.

Just had a routine smog check. Fast, friendly and cheaper that the few other places I called. Make sure to mention the $20 off coupon you saw on their website and it's a very good idea to call ahead to make sure they have the time available. Update... 2020 I've been using Fellow auto for 6 years for my Toyota Prius and Honda CR-V and I've been extremely satisfied with their exceptional service. I'm sure I've saved many hundreds of dollars by no longer servicing the cars at the Honda and Toyota Dealers where I bought them. Today I took the car in to get a headlight bulb replaced and the owner, Su, put it in right there on the spot and just charged me $20 total! Awesome!

The smog testing went fine. They told me I had other things wrong with my car, the master cylinder was leaking, the serpentine belt needed to be replaced. and so did the brake pads. I had just had a tune up with my mechanic who I absolutely trust. I brought my car back to him. Yes, the brake pads needed to be replaced. The serpentine belt is brand new and had been replaced when I had the tune up done. There is no leak in the master cylinder.

Our first time there. We were concerned when our regular VW repair person retired a couple of years ago. The Buslab people referred us to Fellows for smog testing our 78 VW camper bus. Fellows fixed a problem with the engine and got it to pass smog. Cost a bit more than I expected, but this was the first time in a couple of years that I'd had the van serviced, so I'd say it was a fair price given inflation. We'd go back there any time.

Women are tired of being taken advantage of by auto service shops!!! This is my second review of the year. I feel disappointed, disrespected and ripped off.I was approved for the CAP program offered by the state, that helped to pay a portion of my emissions repair because my car didn't pass smog. The state list Fellows as an authorized shop for repairs through their program.Fellows auto diagnosed my car and stated the repairs needed were due to CODE P2004 (IMRC stock open). Work was performed May 3 2024. May 7 2024, I called the shop advising my gear shift lights were out, they were working prior. He denied responsibility. The energy was nice nasty from the start.Short quick answers, not a welcoming feeling upon visiting the shop, quick to minimize your complaint and deny any issues on their part. While on the road in, July 2024 my check engine light came on. I immediately called the shop to tell them my check engine light came back on.I expected him to tell me to bring the car back, for 2 reasons:it was within 3 months of them doing the work and I didn't drive the car often so I know I hadn't exceeded the warranty of 3,000 miles. He did NOT give me that option. He said get it diagnosed. It took time to get this done,ya'll know how life happens. February 2025 I contacted Fellows auto service station to ask for a print out of the repairs done to get this issue finally rectified. After 3 attempts, I received the invoice on Feb 28, 2025. June 15, 2025,I took my car to O'Reilly. They used the Free Veri Scan to help me identify the issue of the check engine light. Code P2004. This is the same code and diagnosis Fellows auto repair provided me and the state of Ca for the initial repairs in May 2024. I called the Fellows auto shop the same day after these findings.Sue answered.I explain the purpose for contacting them again.Immediately he became defensive and kept stating the warranty policy.I became frustrated in the mist of the covo and expressed to him why I chose this service station because I thought they operated with integrity and honesty. After all the going back and forth, I made a comment of him arguing with me and that I was so shocked that a business owner, especially a man was arguing with a customer and he literally mocked me, repeating,2x,a man arguing with a woman, just antagonizing. I advised him I felt he defrauded me and the state, by pushing my issue off and giving me the run around when I contacted his shop in July.He really became irate. Now the Convo has turned into both of us trying to be heard. He could have offered to check it to make sure it wasn't a manufacturer defect. If it was installed properly, why is the box stuck open?He expressed no concern to resolve .I suggested he could have resolved this issue in July by having me bring my car back within the warranty timeframe vs stalling time by advising me to get another diagnosis.Sue ignored me and says, maam, you can keep talking but I'm not going to hang up on you,I'm going to sit the phone down..ya'll know what happened next,he literally hung up..dial tone.By this time I knew there was no solution through him.Prior to him hanging up,I advised him I was going to write an honest review of my experience, I would file a complaint with the state and I will be contacting my local news channel to highlight the unfair service I received,he told me to do what I had to do..so here we go. BTW the mileage on my car from the time the repairs were done May 3,2024 to current June 16,2025 is 3,515 miles, that's over a year's time. I clearly was in the warranty timeframe of addressing my check engine light when I contacted them in July 2024.REGARDLESS of the outcome, I need my community to know what happened to me.This is unacceptable .Check this out... they have many 1 star reviews on Google. This validates I'm not the only one who's had a bad experience with Fellows auto service center. Not a BBB accredited business.I'm not surprised,I see why not.The lack of integrity, honesty and customer service gives a clear picture of who owns or runs this business.I'll keep ya'll posted.
