I went in for a battery, oil light came on so I thought I needed an oil change. Tech topped off oil and all was good. Also get professional, courteous service.

I recently brought my 2018 VW Passat R-Line to Flying Dog Garage for service after the ECP light, check engine light, and limp mode came on. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. While I was given a list of recommended services, there was no clear explanation of what was actually causing the ECP issue. The mechanic vaguely suggested it “might” be related to the water pump or a connector but didn’t give me any confident diagnosis. Despite approving some of the suggested repairs, the ECP light was still on immediately when I picked up the car. It felt like unrelated services were prioritized over addressing the main issue I came in for. Clear communication and a focused plan to resolve the root cause were missing, which left me frustrated and uncertain about what had actually been done. At this point, I’ve also asked the shop for written verification that the billed services (timing cover removal, timing chain inspection, oil level sensor replacement, battery replacement/registration, and battery hold-down plate replacement) were actually completed. I cannot recommend this shop based on my experience, and I sincerely hope they improve communication and diagnostic clarity for future customers. — Kevin Davis

Flying Dog has always treated me and my vehicles with respect. They explain what needs immediate attention and what can wait. I keep my cars for a long time, largely due to how they have taken care of them.

As a car enthusiast, I’ve owned and maintained a variety of specialty European vehicles over the years — older and rare Mercedes and Audis, including AMGs, S-Classes, 500Es, E500s, and even 12-cylinder configurations like the Audi A8 W12. Because of that, I’ve visited Flying Dog Garage several times over the past decade. For general work such as oil changes, fluids, or basic brakes, they do fine. “Hey my brake wear light is on - receptionist it will be 187 dollars to diagnose that you need brake pads before we replace or give a quote to replace them….” Another concern is communication. The reception staff — who openly admit they are not technicians — serve as the only point of contact. When you own rare or specialty vehicles, it’s frustrating to ask specific questions and never be able to speak with someone knowledgeable. It creates a sense that you’re being charged by the hour while they “experiment,” rather than being given honest, informed guidance. In my opinion, honesty is the best policy: if a shop doesn’t know, say so. That’s what separates a true specialty shop from a general repair business. Reading other reviews, I see a pattern that matches my own experiences. People with simple needs like usually leave satisfied. But those with complex issues — often report the same frustrations. After three cars and a lot of money, I’ve never had a major issue properly diagnosed or resolved here. That’s been my honest experience.

We had a great experience at the Flying Dog Garage scheduling was easy and they did a great job taking care of my wife’s car (Mercedes 350 GLK). We’ll be taking our other cars in when they are in need of repair!

After my Audi Q5 was inspected by my dealer I was sceptical about their recommendations and pricing. Based on the many favorable reviews of FLD I had them inspect and was very impressed with their analysis, amount of info provided to me to support their analysis and their pricing. I especially liked the approach they took on a very substantial item: they quoted “the next step” but then explained its limitations and the costs if a further step was required. Very professional.

Do not go here if you need a new transmission, do not go here if you want to be listened to for why you're there. As well as they did not update their Nissan/Infiniti group software so they could not push me at the door fast enough. The reason why so many stars, is thankfully they did not charge me and they were nice enough about it.

Friendly, honest and respectful. First time having my truck serviced at the Flying Dog Garage, they were on schedule and I was on my way within an hour. The waiting room was clean, user friendly (worked while waiting) and had a great selection of coffees and other beverages.

This place honestly destroyed my car. They aren't mechanics. They dont know how to diagnose issues and solve them, they just replace parts when they break. I had asked them to go through my suspension and make sure it was solid. And I told them myself which parts I needed changed out, im a former mechanic. I had my car in the shop countless times going through nearly all the components of a suspension system as apposed to them replacing it all at once like I asked. This put me out of work multiple times. And than they destroyed my transmission. I had shifting issues and they replaced components in my transmission and after it was leaking transmission fluid allover my garage and it was extremely hard to put in gear. So I was having the same issues when I brought it in. They also damaged the clips to my front bumper and now it sits funny. P.S. I thanked you the one time you replaced my axle that broke a couple months later and you guys had to replace again.

I have a 1992 Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR-4 with approx. 27K miles. Due to age of the vehicle, I decided to replace the timing belt. I also requested a thorough mechanical inspection of the vehicle. I am the original owner and try to keep the vehicle in showroom condition. It has never seen snow and rain only once. It was never a daily driver and was always garaged and covered. They were able to find several issues due to age of the car. Every issue was documented with picture or video and I was given the choice of whether to fix the issue or not. Through constant communication with Elizabeth, the work was coordinated. Due to age of the vehicle, sourcing parts was accomplished through their connections with several suppliers, not an easy task. When they determined a drive train component did not meet their standards, they corrected the issue instead of just installing the part. I never would have known the difference. I talked with two other shops before contacting Flying Dog, and they declined servicing my vehicle due to age and difficulty in sourcing parts. They are not cheap, but given the Classic status of the vehicle, I consider their work and prices to be good value for money spent. I consider them a trusted business and recommend them highly.

I had a very good experience with my 2013 VW Beetle! The engineers are very knowledgeable and thorough when it came to the inspection of my car and they were able to let me know of some future matinence issues that I will have to come back in for as well! (I’m but a college kid so I’m saving up for some of it and their quotes are very helpful for that) my car has quite the number of miles on it and definitely needs some body work and this is the first place I’ve taken it too that has been able to give me a full run down of issues! The receptionist was also very helpful and informative when it came to keeping me posted and answering all of my questions! They were very good with handling my car and got it back to me as soon as they could once the issues were fixed and my oil pressure light stopped coming on! I will definitely be coming here when I do have things to fix with my bug! Especially because some of the other places around here were rude when I tried to have them just take a look at my car because it’s a German car :O But thank you Flying Dog!

Took a mini cooper JCW GP Edition here for a pre purchase inspection. Amazing service, friendly, and very thorough. At the end of the inspection they took me out to the car to show me their findings and then out it all together in a packet that included pictures and estimates to correct the problems found. HIGHLY recommend this shop

Absolutely love this place! Bought a new to us Mazda and didn’t even put 300 miles on the car and I could smell gas when I started the car, brought it into Flying Dog and they went above and beyond in providing service! They not only put us at ease with a new purchase we were upset about, they called in our name to the place we purchased the vehicle from and they were able to get us money off our bill (Huge thanks to Stacy) that hands down amazes us as you didn’t have to stand up for us and you did! Flying Dog kept us fully informed about our vehicle even offered us a loaner car! We have definitely found the only shop our cars will go to! Thanks again to everyone at Flying Dog who helped us get our vehicle back on the road!
