I am writing to formally address serious concerns regarding my recent transaction with Gates of Elkhart. I have reason to believe that your organization knowingly and willfully exploited me and misused my consumer credit. As a result of multiple violations and apparent fraudulent practices. This transaction was a consumer credit transaction, not a loan, and therefore falls under the purview of 15 U.S. Code § 1602(i). In connection with this, I was never properly informed of the finance charge as required by law. According to 15 U.S. Code § 1605, the finance charge in any consumer credit transaction must be determined as the sum of all charges payable directly or indirectly by the consumer and imposed directly or indirectly by the creditor as an incident to the extension of credit. Your organization failed to clearly disclose this information, constituting a direct violation of this federal statute. Additionally, Gates of Elkhart accepted a cash down payment of $5,200, which further violates 15 U.S. Code § 1605, as the statute explicitly states: “The finance charge does not include charges of a type payable in a comparable cash transaction.” This cash payment was treated in a way inconsistent with how such payments should be handled in a credit transaction and was not disclosed as required. Furthermore, I was misled at the time of purchase. I was told that a $5,200 down payment was required in order to take possession of the vehicle, but I was never informed of my right to rescind the agreement within three (3) days, nor was I presented with the mandatory notice that accompanies all consumer credit transactions. This omission is deceptive and undermines fundamental consumer protections. Gates of Elkhart also failed to clearly and conspicuously disclose all of my rights as a consumer, as required under federal consumer credit laws, particularly those outlined in the Truth in Lending Act (TILA). I urge your organization to address this matter promptly and rectify these serious compliance issues.

My wife Gail and I needed to purchase a vehicle to replace a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. My truck broke down on the way to trade it in and they picked me up and sent me home in a new pickup to keep my business going strong. A truck is my lifeline and they kept me running. Good staff very friendly and helpful people who will go above and beyond to get you into a better position than when you walked in. The salesman who helped me was Michael but there are a lot of great people there willing to work with you. Doesn’t feel like a typical dealer even though car shopping is stressful they make it a little easier.

So disappointed in gates talked to a sales woman told her i was looking for my 81 year old mother. Had three cars we were interested in that i was planning to drive all the way from goshen to see om saturday. When i got there none of the cars were there they said they were in mishawaka. Then they tried to sell me a jeep Cherokee. Not an ideal car for my 81 year old mother when we were looking for a compact or subcompact car. Pure bait and switch. Thank goodness i went to gurley leep next door and found a 2022 Nissan sentra we really.liked.

Very friendly and changed my oil in less than half hour. They also honored a coupon that was for Mishawaka gates. I will say one of the reasons I purchased from Gates is because there is a Elkhart location, but I did not know Elkhart loc is not a certified dealership and can’t honor some work and coupons I receive. Which is disheartening a person would think with the gates name it should not matter whether you go to Mishawaka, granger, or Elkhart

I purchased my vehicle from them over a month ago. The driver’s seat was already damaged before I purchased it. My salesman said they would fix it free of charge and even wrote it up in my paperwork. All I really got was a run around. I came back the following week like he said to do. He met me right outside when I arrived. Gave me the sob story how they lost a few mechanics and were backed up. He would contact me soon. He texted me asking my availability. I replied back. It was marked as read but he never responded 😱. I sent the message again. No response. You call, they put you on hold and never get back with you.

I have had good customer experience as far as purchasing my truck, but the service department is horrible. The first time I contacted them with my check engine light they gave me a runaround the second time with my check engine light coming on. I simply ask if what was going on with my truck was under my warranty. They’re claiming without looking at my truck. They can’t tell me if it is or isn’t wow that’s a bunch of BS. I took my truck to GM and from now on GM will get my service because after talking with GM, I found out my particular truck. My particular problem is under a recall thanks GM, Boooo Gates service department.

Great customer service as far as dropping off my car. But I dropped my suv off on Wednesday night for an appointment on Thursday morning and by Friday they still hadn't looked at my vehicle. I understand running behind, but I needed a vehicle and they proceeded to tell me they couldn't give me one. No update by the end of the day friday. So by Monday I had no vehicle to get my kids to school. They told me Monday I couldn't borrow a car. They hadn't even got the estimate approved to order parts. They couldn't give me an official price till ordering parts. Then still no updates. Said parts came in Wednesday, after they told me they should be there Tuesday. Still no updated price given. I still had no vehicle to drive and no updates. I have bought 6 vehicles from gates. But this was an aweful experience. If my suv is being worked on, they should have better updates and a vehicle I could borrow in the mean time if it's going to take 8 days. I should not have to wait until my suv is done being worked on and have to ASK for a total price. I bought my suv about 6 months ago, FROM GATES!!! Then had to put $1500 into it after 6 months..? Why would you sell a vehicle with so many problems with a clear carfax? And then proceed to not give a vehicle while you fix a car you sold me, with problems!!!

I bought a Mitsubishi Outlander in November for my wife and kids, thinking I was getting them a safe vehicle. Not the case. From the beginning its been crazy. First off, they sell a car with warning lights about safety features. Took over a month to fix that. My kids found rx drugs in the seat backs. Real nice. Then the snow came. This thing is just scary to drive. Jerks randomly when any tire hits slush or ice. Took it in after talking to Mitsubishi and told them what they said. They wanted 100 bucks to do the alignment, and said it was the tires. Come to find out, its probably the tires but not for the reason they stated. They said it was because I didn't have snow tires. According to Mitsubishi, its more likely the fact they sold me an all-wheel drive vehicle with mismatched tires. Apparently, you need to have 4 matching tires for several reasons. I go in and try to get this resolved, hoping the dealership would stand behind their cars. I was offered the alignment for free but they want me to pay for half the tires. I dont have the extra money for tires. How did this pass their inspection? How did the service department not catch it?

I would really like to understand why it’s been two months and no one has yet reached out to me about the service that I’ve called and requested. I have Called numerous times and I even reached out to the sales manager at the Mishawaka location, But to no avail, I’m still waiting for them to call. When I first purchased a car, I told the salesman that the AC wasn’t very cold and he assured me it was fine and within a few months, the AC stopped blowing cold air and I’ve called them and talked to service about that about getting an engine have it looked at I also mentioned to her that the rear windshield wiper is not spraying and I would just expect better service from a reputable dealership like Gates. I work two jobs. I don’t have the time to call every single day and I shouldn’t have to.

Tom was my salesman at gates, I Literally went in there to replace the batteries in my Malibu and left with 2 brand new vehicles. Me and my wife spent about 6 hours with Tom test driving vehicles. We have so far been more then happy with there service and enthusiasm to go above and beyond to get us in the vehicles we wanted. We told them our monthly price point we wanted to be at or under and they also made that happen. Thanks gates you forever hold out business! This all started by recieving a CRP, I BELIEVE its called. I planned on trading in my 2019 Jeep Compass Limited. Just didn't know it was going to be at Gates of Elkhart.. I started out texting, Amy. She passed me over to my salesman, Giuseppe. He asked me alot of questions. To get a clear, and detailed picture of what I wanted. We setup a date and time for me to come in and test drive some options. I ended up getting a vehicle, that had been dropped off, just an hour before I showed up. Lol. It was a 2023 GMC Acadia SLT, AWD. Giuseppe got me $12,000 for my trade-in. They paid off the amount left on my Jeep. Everything was going great, until I went into the number crunchers office! When the paperwork was all signed, I realized my payment had jumped. Quite substantially. I am very unhappy with that. I was promised one thing and got something else entirely. I have to (only having it a couple of days) get my Acadia serviced. Due to the check engine light coming on. Overall, at this point, Amy and Giuseppe are AMAZING. If your looking for a newer vehicle, or trading out, these 2 should be your top choice(s)! Thank you so much Amy and Giuseppe. I greatly appreciate all you've done!! Tom was phenomenal at assisting me in finding a smooth, reliable ride! I love my vehicle! Landon is a pro when it comes to warranty and I truly have no regrets on adding it. In fact a few months after purchase, a sensor went out and it saved me $515, thank you Landon!! We did have 1 small hiccup with my payoff on my other loan, BUT the managers at Gates recognize that making things right bring long-term happy customers. They took care of me. Can’t forget to mention Tina at the service counter! It’s even the little things, like my phone dying while I was waiting for my car to be serviced and Tina gave me a charging brick to charger my phone!
