I have used German Car Service from the 1st day of opening, in fact, followed Dat from another location as his work has always been spot on. I'm also very happy that he is in the neighborhood, as I can drop the car off and easily walk anywhere I need to be.

Terrible service. Took my car to get a stop light changed and they decided to change a sensor and not communicate; they wouldn't let me take my car if I didn't pay 2k USD. Ended up paying 800USD for a super simple requirement and it took them 5 days. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!

I've taken my Mini Cooper here a few times and Dat and his team do a great job. Mini maintenance isn't going to be cheap anywhere, but this is a much better deal than going to a dealership.

I have been brining my car to German Car Service for two years. Dat works hard to take care of my car and does a great job keeping it on the road. He's up front about what to expect and always follows thru. I highly recommend German Car Service.

Excellent service for German and quasi-German (Mini) cars. Dat, the owner, is honest and helpful. Not cheap, but that’s the nature of these cars, and certainly cheaper than the dealer. Highly recommended.

Dat took care of my VW Passat years ago and German Car Service is now the only place I bring my 2009 Audi A3. I trust his expertise (he's an Audi master technician), his recommendations (re: whether something is proactive/elective vs. urgent), and his pricing, and he gets things done on the timeline he commits to. There's no reason to pay ~2x at the dealership or other more expensive specialists.

Love Dat & Co! He took great care of my VW and now my Mini Cooper. Always forthright about what needs work now and what can wait, gives great advice, does excellent work and at a fair price. Great locally owned small business to support.

I began taking my car to German Car Service when the factory warranty expired, and I was really glad to escape the dealership's service department "shakedown," where they always insisted I should approve hundreds of dollars in extra work whenever I took the car in for a "free" oil change. Dat is an excellent, certified German car mechanic--He really knows his stuff, and does excellent work for a fair price.

I went there to get a diagnostic, and Dat charged me $225 he charged me another $100 because he said the wires were loose and reconnected them, He recommended I get a new battery, which he was going to charge me another $225. I know another mechanic that would charge me $20 for the same problem. A day later my car won't start or open and Dat (the owner) could've done that for the service I paid. He's ripping people because he has a specialized skill and it's foreign cars.

After a comprehensive search, Dat has been our go-to mechanic for our Mini Cooper ever since we moved to Oakland a couple years ago. He has been the most reliable, thoughtful, trustworthy, and honest auto shop we have ever dealt with - by a long shot! I trust that whenever he diagnoses an issue or makes a recommendation for repair, he knows what he’s talking about, gives it to us straight, and charges a competitive price. On top of all of this, Dat is just a genuinely nice guy who I enjoy catching up with when we’re getting work done or when we catch him in the neighborhood. Thanks Dat!

I feel really comfortable taking my car here - they're honest and direct. They did a thorough job in a very timely manner and their prices of course are a serious challenge to the dealership. It's really great to have a local place that can work on german cars. Right on guys!

My Mercedes savvy friend recommended Dat, the owner, and this shop. Dat got me in the morning I called and he explained what was involved with replacing my broken door actuator. He texted me photos of the repair in progress (!) and was spot on with the estimate. He also informed me that my brake fluid was dirty and I had him flush the system. The prices were much more reasonable than the other shop I have been going to. Great 1st experience and I will be coming back.

So many issues with the electronics in my car. I'm on a limited income and was stressed about the quote I can't say it was smooth sailing getting it repaired but he put far more into it than he charged me. When I needed the car by a certain date he stayed late and came in early to get it to me on time to drive to LA for a concert. It needed more work on the issue when I returned and he charged about a quarter of what I expected. He's committed to his customers and to getting it right

Dat is THE best mechanic I have ever worked with in my many decades of car ownership. He helped me tremendously with my Mini for many years and after recently purchasing a used Volvo, he went above and beyond to get the car in working order. He helped me get it towed to the shop and spent countless hours diagnosing what turned out to be a complicated electrical issue. He is honest and reliable. I will never use another mechanic again if I can help it. Thank you for your hard work and integrity Dat!

I have owned 2 Audi S4s, one of which I currently own. I have been going to German Car Service for over 3 years, with all repairs being complete there. The prices are very reasonable compared to the dealership. Not only are they able to do regular maintenance, they also did performance parts for me too. They installed multiple items for me including a clutch, engine replacement, coilovers, short throw shifter, and crankshaft pulleys. Very communicative, good pricing, and good work for any application.

I have really enjoyed bringing my BMW to Dat, he is so kind, honest and knowledgeable. I got quoted $6,000 from the BMW dealership to fix the oil gasket leakage and Dat did it for about $2,000. I feel very taken care of and comfortable taking my car to Dat. Highly recommend

Very reasonable and very honest. Took my Porsche in to replace a battery, in and out in about an hour 30. Mentioned my car needs a major tuneup soon, will definitely come back and work with them.

I have had two Audi's looked after here and Dat has never disappointed. I have always found him to be honest and thorough and when I get my next Audi, I will bring it here too. If you have a precision car and expect cheap prices, you aren't living in reality. There's nothing stopping you from taking your car somewhere else if you don't like the quote.

Dat did a great job maintaining my Maserati GranTurismo at a fair price. He was willing to work on my car when others were not. He understands the cars in and out, like the common window regulator bracket issue causing a rattling noise. He made an exception to allow me to bring customer supplied parts, and trusted my online research on the car. Maybe people had bad experiences because they’re used to paying $50 for an oil change at Walmart for their beater. But for luxury or exotic cars, Dat is a sensible and cost-effective alternative to stratospherically expensive dealer service.
