My daughter's car didn't start on Purdue's campus late one night. She called Gilliland and they recommended a tow company. Gilliland evaluated her car and had it repaired the next day. Since that was on Friday, they assured me that they would be able to get her the car on Saturday if she couldn't make it to the shop by close on Friday. I also thought the cost was reasonable and the people I talked to on the phone were very professional and friendly.

A longtime friend recommended Gilliland to me 5+ years ago & I've been taking my car to them ever since. I have zero complaints. They are professional, friendly, flexible and most importantly, HONEST! On the few occasions that I've had to leave my car with them during the day, they've even given me a ride to work. I seen a lot of negative reviews on here so I thought I'd leave a comment. To be honest, I didn't look at the reviews until after I had them service my truck. I went there and asked the gentleman behind the counter if he could swap out my factory muffler for an aftermarket (magnaflow) exhaust. Once we discussed price I told him to proceed. I picked the truck up just a few hours later, and couldn't be happier. The welds looked great. Muffler was secured down well, and it sounds awesome now. I was treated with respect through the entire transaction. I received quality service in a timely manner.

The service in this place is outstanding. I am from out of town and had a small issue with black ice 😑 No one else in Lafayette was even wanted to take a look at our car until four days or so later. Walt in the other hand, was super nice and helped us right away. He was not only understanding of our situation, he also did a great job. I recommend this place, ask for Walt he will make sure that you are happy with the service and safe driving your car.

Couldn’t recommend Gilliland enough! I brought my car to Gilliland after taking my car to the dealership (as I usually do) and being told the repair would be $900 and what I needed/wanted done in the way I wanted was “impossible”. I was fairly certain it was not impossible, so, I decided to get a second opinion. I stopped in one evening to Gilliland and explained to them my situation. Walt said to drop my car off the following Monday morning and they would see what they could do. Sure enough, they could do exactly what I wanted and for less than $130 and in only a few hours. Very, very pleased with the work and service Gilliland provided. I will be back!

I needed my alternator replaced. I have the no-how to replace an alternator myself, but this one was in a tight spot and I didn't have the correct tools to reach one or two of the mounting bolts. Jonathan worked with me to get the Denso brand I wanted, and the price I was charged was the same I could get it for from Amazon. They were done in 1/2 day, and I was pleased to see that they took the longer route to remove the alternator, rather than the shortcut a previous mechanic had used (squeezing the radiator aside).

Walt and the team here have been great to work with over the years. I have several older vehicles, and I’m talking 10 to 20 to 50 year-old vehicles, and they’ve done a great job of fitting me in. They provide an honest and reasonable estimate, do great work, and get me back on the road quickly and confidently. I’ve been coming here so long with so many of my vehicles that he knows me now by phone number, voice and vehicle when I pull up.

What a phenomenal business! Walt & the rest of the team have been so professional and kind in all of the auto repairs we have needed. They are honest with you about how long the repairs will take. They never pressure you to fix things that do not need to be fixed. I always feel like they communicate very well with me and keep me informed about what is going on with my vehicle. I have had both our cars serviced here. Jonathan is knowledgeable and polite in explaining what is wrong with the vehicle and what needs to be done. They do their job well, on budget, and on time. Most recently I got work done on a battery that was acting finicky. It was good to see that they did not attempt to push unnecessary repairs and did the work needed to get the car going. On the flip side, they are not open on the weekends, which is a bit of an inconvenience, but tolerable.

I have had a lot of work done with John. I've had pitman arm, power steering gear box, water pump brakes and rotors. He also fixed my windshield wiper at no cost. It was a simple fix but the fact he did it no charge was great. He just hired JR who I can see carries the same values as John which I respect a lot as a small business. I have never been disappointed or unhappy with any work done from Gilliland Motors, and the people there are great, fair, honest and good mechanics who know what there doing at very good competitive prices. I highly suggest taking your vehicles here for any repairs u need. I won't take mine anywhere else.. we need more small businesses like Gilliland Motors in Lafayette. Great shop.
