When I used to live in Coralville about 6 years, this was my go to mechanic. I was in town today buying a new vehicle, and they were the only ones that I trusted to give it to me straight before I locked down on a used purchase. I dodged a huge bullet on a car that would have completely screwed me over down the line, and they fit me in to check on the vehicle I ended up with. Great crew, honest, tell it to you straight, no BS.

Note: I actually found this business listed as Greer Motor Frame & Axle; it's the same place.) My wife was in this area from out of town and had brake trouble. I blindly called several shops in the area looking for someone who could help; the first quoted $350(!) for a front brake job, the second couldn't take us for a week, the third went to an answering machine, but this one, wow. I talked with the owner, who was booked up but said he'd do it if we could drop the car off for the day. Unfortunately, my wife had no other way to get around, so he made arrangements to fit in another appointment so that our car could get fixed. My wife said he was friendly, very professional, and terrifically helpful. He did a great job, for a perfectly fair price. I'm so happy to have found him that even though I'll probably never need a repair in Coralville IA again, I want to make sure he gets as much business as possible. He deserves it.

We were stranded in Coralville Iowa on Christmas Eve 2022 when several of the lugs on one of our tires broke (improperly installed when a shop in Denver did a recent tire rotation). It wasn't safe to drive, so we got towed to a hotel, and had to wait until Monday morning, hoping to find a repair shop that was open and could fit us in. Greer's took us right away, replaced all five lugs on our wheel for a very reasonable price, didn't try to upsell on anything, and we were able to resume our trip home by lunchtime Monday. A big thanks to Dana Greer for helping us get back on the road! Highly recommend this shop.

Friendly, honest, knowledgeable and just great service. Rolled into town late in the afternoon and my Jeep had some odd noises coming from the front end. I wasn’t sure what was going on, but it didn’t sound good. It was 4:30 the day before a holiday when I asked them to help me out. They had the problem diagnosed and were ordering parts almost immediately. A few hours later they called me to let me know my Jeep was ready to go. They went the extra mile to help someone from out of town when it wasn’t convenient for them. I will not hesitate to use their services again and recommend them to anyone. If you have a college student here, this would be the place to send them for car maintenance and repairs without any worries of them being taken advantage of. Thanks for getting us back on the road!

Greer Automotive has a team that truly cares for their customers. They are not looking to over charge or up-sell. The place I originally took it to wanted to charge me $600 for just a balljoint replacement (and there was more than just the balljoint that needed replaced) and did not even look at the car yet. Greer quoted me for half the price over the phone and when I had my car taken to them, they took pictures of everything to show me what needed replaced and explained why. They also saved parts they originally thought needed replaced and went out of their way to help me save money on the repairs. The employees are extremely kind and patient, answering any and all questions I had and giving me advice over the phone before I even took my car to them. They are truly professional and caring people, and I will be sure to return for future automotive repairs.

Dana went above and beyond to repair the botched job a thief made to my sons car, when they stole the catalytic converter. The car was ready within 24 hrs which I didn’t think was possible. I've been going to Dana Greer for ALL of my past vehicle's needs after a family member referred me to him. We're talking 10+ years here. I tell every person I know that if they need something fixed, they should give him a try. Why? His establishment provides quick, reliable, and honest work - things that are becoming harder and harder to find in auto repair. He's very fair with pricing, as well, which any body will find refreshing. Dana maybe the most honest, straight forward auto shop owner I have ever met! My two boys and I were traveling across the country (road trip!). The front tire made a bad noise, we stopped and asked Dana to look at it. I've had pleasant experiences with Greer Auto up until recently - my 2012 Chevy Malibu has been sitting in their lot since late July 2023 off and on, and at one point was sitting in their lot for over a month. I understand that car repairs are more of an art and less of an exact science, but I feel cheated and like I've shoveled money into a business that doesn't really care about it's customers. I told them when I first dropped it off that it seemed like a fuel system issue, and stressed that I wanted them to look at that first - but evidently the owner had been on vacation that week. I have had to reach out via phone call or walking down to the shop myself in order to receive any kind of update on repairs. My advice to you is to try to use a different shop. It seemed pretty clear to me that Greer thinks that they can replace whatever part they want (even if they've JUST REPLACED IT) in order to make a buck or two. I'm deeply unhappy that I've had to wait this long, spend ungodly amounts of money on the repairs, for it to only be related to what I initially suggested almost $1000 in tows and repairs later.

Greer to the rescue! My family’s minivan died right before the exit to Coralville and Dana was willing to have my car towed and stayed late to get it fixed. He out in high quality parts and his rates were fine. Overall, the bill was much higher than I’d like, but that was mostly due to an expensive part. He seems kind and honest, rare in this business.
