Have you ever taken your vehicle into the shop for a check engine light? When you get there the check engine light goes out! Or, it’s making a noise but when you take it in it stops? It happened to me. Ray, the owner, brought me in (after hours) checked my truck out. But the check engine light went out. He went over the computer with me explaining just how that may have happened. He was thorough and articulate.I came in from out of town to work in the area. So, my trucks mechanical condition is very important. After examining the truck he told me there was no charge. Wow. My co-workers recommended Hartland Automotive due to their excellent mecanical skills and customer service. Fair prices and quick turnaround time on repairs. This place is a jewel in Elkhart. A place like this is hard to find.

What an amazing shop owned by some even more amazing people! My husband and I were traveling from Pennsylvania to Montana and had an emergency tire issue. Although they had other vehicles to work on they graciously stopped what they were working on to check our vehicle tire. We needed a new tire which we thought might be the case, however we have special ordered tires on our vehicle. Not only did they drive 45 minutes to tire rack to get our specific tire they allowed us to hang out in the shop since we were traveling and had no where to go. Their customer service is hands down the best we have ever had anywhere!!! A big thank you again!!!

The entire experience was amazing from my phone call to see if there were available to my first in person contact to pick up was great all around. I appreciate them for getting me in and out. They may not be able to do this all the time but if the service is with a smile and the price is right this is the company anyone would work with. I highly recommend Heartland. They have my business!

Edit: It is now September and my AC has been running solid through this humid hot weather all summer. Awesome mechanic they know what they're doing. It has been a week since my car's AC has been fixed up by Hartland. So far so good! They told me to bring it back if there's any issues. I just came back from Niagara New York with the AC running the whole time, no issues and ice cold! Fair prices, they let me know how much it would be over the phone. For an evac and recharge for the AC along with some hazardous freon in my car system it was about $137 total. They are one of the shops that has an old enough AC machine to work with my car when I had sealant additives from the freon I used to try to fix it myself - my usual shop wouldn't do it. I brought my car in after hours and they had it done by 9am the next day I was impressed.

Ray and his wife Krystal (I hope I am spelling it correctly) are absolutely wonderful! We have taken our Diesel trucks to Gates always for any mechanical issues because we were told that due to the year, and model that "only" dealers were authorized to work on our trucks. What a load of bologna. I was recommended this shop from a friend of mine, and let me tell you me and my husband were blown away by the service, and most of all the price! After spending more than I would like to admit at Gates (a few thousands) being charged not even half or close to that, and still receiving excellent service with the problem fixed is a great feeling. My husband is obsessed with Diesel trucks so we have FINALLY found a reputable shop to bring all of our trucks and will more than happily make the drive from South Bend to Elkhart. I plan to recommend all of my friends to this shop! You won't regret it, look no where else for your Diesel truck needs! 5 stars, I wish I could give more!
