Very disappointed. I paid over thousand dollars. Light came back on. He won't warranty the job. Took to a different shop they said the repair was shotty and done improperly now I have to pay to fix car a 2nd time. Don't recommend. Edit: It was done by Howard and I spoke with him a few times. But I got a 2nd shop to PROPERLY fix my car. They warranted the work and suggested I NEVER go back there cause they took my money and gave me more issues with shoddy work.

I visited Howard at Helton Automotive for the first time in July 2019, based on a friend’s recommendation. Had to have new rear brakes and an oil change. Repairs and service were made promptly and efficiently. His prices were fair and reasonable. I expect to become a faithful and loyal customer. Totally trust Howard and his team!

My company highly recommends Helton Automotive on Rufus Ratchford Rd in Gastonia for all your vehicle needs. Howard is Awesome and very honest. His mechanics are nice too. Helton's is the only place that we will take our fleet vehicles to for maintenance and repairs. I would give a 10-star rating if it was offered.

I find it hard to believe they have any good reviews. The older gentleman worked on my car twice, and messed it up twice. The second time it was towed there without me knowing by my insurance company. When I picked it up, the entire panel of the passenger door was lying on the floor with several tools on top, and wires hanging from under the dash. No way was I going back in to allow him to touch my car again. The first time I picked it up and was told my engine light was on (wasn’t before) and he couldn’t figure out why! Really? I also found out later that the hose put on my gas line was the wrong size. It was too small! I was told it was the size for a riding lawnmower! I will never go back there obviously. Several other mechanics in town have said the same thing- Do not take your car there.

It is so hard to find a mechanic that will treat a woman with respect and not try to take advantage of her and try to over charge!!! I have been to several mechanics and Helton Automotive Howard Helton was the first one to treat me with respect, do a excellent job at a fair price 👏 👍. He is the only mechanic I will ever take my car to again. So ladies if you want respect, a fair price and excellent service take your vehicle to Howard and his team because you will definitely be Happy you did 😊!!! The gentlemen quickly diagnosed the issue, a wheel bearing. The service was excellent, inexpensive, and inspired confidence. I'm so glad I chose a privately-owned shop before going to a chain. I had an issue with an air injection pump on my Tacoma. Helton Automotive went the extra mile and called the dealership to see if the part was under a recall. It turns out that it was part of a recall and Toyota repaired it for free. Helton is awesome, very trustworthy and honest work! Can’t thank them enough!!!

If you want to be lied to, wait 7 1/2 hrs for your car and be screamed at, then this is the place for you. They have no clue what they are doing. Had to call police to get my car back at 8:00 at night. Waiting in the dark while being assaulted by several people.

Been taking my car here for over a year and they have always been able to fit me in last minute. My alternator went out in Charlotte and I called Heltons and he coordinated a tow truck to come get my car and I. They fixed it the same day for a very reasonable price. Heltons has always gone above and beyond for me and I will continue to use them every time.
