This is my 2nd time this year where I needed repairs on a car. John had me bring the car right down and I had it fixed and back on the road by the next day. Again the rates were excellent, what was quoted and no surprises! Friendly, prompt and affordable!!!

Not sure how this place has so many good reviews. I brought my car into the shop because there a rattling and check engine light that I needed to get looked at. They told me they had to trouble shoot the issue and that it may be expensive, and then showed up with a $600 bill and said they still could not fix it. I brought it to another mechanic back home who found the leak in about 30 minutes, spent 25 dollars replacing the line and it was that simple. this is not a quality mechanic shop and I would definitely avoid bringing European motors here due to lack of knowledge despite advertisement.

I'm at a loss for words. I have given this shop at least $3000+ over the past 5 years in repairs which were reasonable for my Saab. I've never real had a problem with them and they know who I am whenever I walk in. I referred my boyfriend to them for a coolant leak. He mentioned to the mechanic he was referred by me and the guy didn't seem to care. They checked out his car and my boyfriend felt the estimate was too high and declined. It was $500+ for a coolant hose assembly on an old Ford Taurus. That's a bit insane. Should only be about $250. According to my boyfriend, the head mechanic was obviously not happy with that. He started getting really pushy about getting the car off his lot and charged my boyfriend $25 to look at the leak anyway. If he didn't respect my boyfriend as a customer then he obviously has no respect for me. Never going back there again.

This garage is a total joke! They did not do any of the work we were charged for - after having the car for over a month, they charged us over $2,000.00 and we could not even drive the car! They caused so much damage to our vehicle and made several “so called repairs" that we we were not informed about ahead of time - Which ultimately cost us thousands more to repair their errors by a professional mechanic- Our advice- Stay away!!! Owner claims in his response that is not how he does business but I beg to differ on that he in fact did this and no amount of apologies or contrition changes that so. You screw up the first time but will never get any calls or another shot at it! Treat every customer like gold. It was repaired in 4 days by another shop.

If you are looking for an honest, reliable service shop for your car, you need to bring it to J&R. I've used them for years and can tell you that John is always friendly, fair, and upfront about the work that needs to be done. They're service is speedy and their pricing is very good. the new location makes it even better! There's plenty of parking and it's easy to get in and out of. I only bring my vehicles to J &R. wouldn't think of anywhere else!

Wonderful experience with this fine shop and John is a great manager/mechanic and fine customer service rep too. He is also quite funny and engaging! I have had my car and my generator expertly serviced here and I dropped off the latter machine this AM in advance of a snowstorm without any expectation it could be fixed. I told John "It's OK if you can't get to it today. No worries." Well, he got to it today, knowing I might need it soon. Bad carb was replaced for a very affordable price. And John waited past closing for me to pick it up to make sure I would have it available if we lose power this weekend. Can't say enough good things about John and his shop. Will be happy to take my business here from now on! Five stars well deserved!

I had a wonderful experience with John and his team. I was traveling alone with my two young children when the AC compressor started falling apart on my Nissan Quest. I Googled "mechanic near me" and J & R came up. Even though they were closing soon, John took the time to track down a new compressor and installed it quickly while we waited. As a woman, I am often "mansplained" about cars when I'm at a shop, but I never experienced this with John. I appreciated his honesty and his concern for me and my kids. I highly recommend this shop to anyone and especially women.

Very honest, you won't be talked into getting service you don't need. Great at diagnosis. Fun to banter with them, they let you hang out in the shop while they work. John was very helpful in my finding a good used car that fit my budget. After inspecting 2 other cars that turned out to be duds, they provided me with a lead where I found my car. 2 years and 30,000 miles later no problems yet, just normal maintenence.

I had an excellent time using J&R Auto Repair. They listened to me explain all of the various symptoms of my car, suggested a couple of possible root causes, and got to work on my car right away. The work was completed quickly and for a fair price. While they were working on my car they noted maintenance items that I might need to do in the near future but didn't push to do anything that was unnecessary. Having an idea of future work allows me to better budget for the next time I bring my car in. I really enjoyed my experience and I intend to use them for my future work on my car.

John is the only mechanic I trust with major repairs in the whole Boston area. I’ve done business with him three times now, and every time he has been courteous, professional and honest. I’d say I actually know how to take better care of my car now, because of how well he explains issues and what steps he took to solve them. There are other good mechanics out there, but go to this guy if you need major work done and need someone you can trust. His turnaround times are quick, he’s flexible on scheduling, and he won’t let you down.

When my car broke down with suspension issues, I was panicking. Normally I try and do all my own work, but due to my current situation it was infeasible. A week ago I would have told you an honest mechanic was a contradiction, but J&R proved me wrong. Incredible service, great price, and honesty across the board! They actually charged less than the original quote!!! Highly recommend these guys, they fix it right without the bs!
