We first began taking our vehicle to Jack's Transmission last year due to a very long time friend referring us there. It's one of the few places I've trusted. Especially in the trying plague situation we are all living in, we really need to know who to trust. Unfortunately today we had a deeply disappointing experience. I needed to have the dead battery in my daughter, an NC college students, '06 Camry replaced. With perfect faith & confidence we headed straight for Jacks. I didn't even ask what it would cost but assumed they would call with an estimate. That was clearly my second mistake. Well it turns out, $272. was the total for a battery and wiper blades. After I paid the bill & reflected a little more, I checked in with a couple of other friends who agreed it was absolutely too high. They encouraged me to call back and ask why. So I did call back and requested Kerry walk me through the billing. The battery alone was $168. labor was only 3O min. @$48 (titally reasonable). I asked if they usually call the customer with an estimate before proceeding with work. He kind of chuckled and said, "only if that's what we're asked to do". So, it's well known we are in the middle of CV19 and many families are out of work. It would have been professional, appropriate, let's say even considerate, to call and confirm that I was indeed willing & prepared to purchase the $168 battery rather than a more economical one. Before we brought the Camry in Kerry also made it clear their shop had been suffering under the conditions of CV19 in lack of patronage. Unfortunately I'm certain all these ingredients allowed for a glaring breach of integrity resulting in predatory pricing. Ive learned my lesson & will no longer recommend or seek Jack's Transmission for any of our three vehicles services again.

I took in a truck I was thinking of buying for a pre-purchase inspection. The guys were extremely accommodating - squeezed me in right before a holiday; they were also very respectful and informative. They showed me everything they were doing, talked me through everything the car might need, and even helped me establish the value of the vehicle to make sure I got a fair deal. I actually had fun being there in the shop. I'll definitely be using them in the future for my auto needs!

I paid $5000.00 for a rebuilt and guaranteed Chrysler transmission. Jack Smith sold the business to Mr Transmission and they will not honor the guarantee. I was told they would.

Fantastic experience with Jack Smith's Transmission and Automotive. My partner was traveling through Ashville on a road trip when some car troubles popped up. I searched Google for a mechanic with good reviews and Jack's had the most authentic positive experiences - for good reason! They got her in quickly and were honest in their diagnosis. She raved about how kind they were and how authentic and genuine there service was. They even put the car back up on the lift to show her what they did and what they were seeing. The best experience I've had in an auto shop. Kerry was very friendly, welcoming and informative. He walked me through my questions and concerns. I could tell he genuinely cared for my car and respected me. Most of the time when I go into auto shops, people treat me like I don't know anything and are often times off-putting, but Kerry was the opposite of this! 10/10 will drive an hour plus to always bring my car to Tom and his team. Everyone was crazy polite and helpful - Tom really went above and beyond to get my car back on the road. He was very insightful and knew his stuff - he didn't take advantage of my lack of experience and did his best to walk me through anything I asked about. Truly the best mechanic experience I have ever had - I wish more shops operated with such integrity and quality.

I have had 2 cars and a truck serviced with this company, for 20 years. I have never had an issue with them and they are always very helpful, professional and very fair. I work in NC, but live out of state in SC now, but STILL use them to this date. I wouldn't go anywhere else but here.

Everyone here was courteous and straight forward. My clutch was repaired quickly (two days) and at a fair price for the job. I felt like they were more interested in making sure my car was fixed correctly with quality parts than making a quick buck. If you are looking for honesty, efficiency, and experience, look no further!! I found myself in need of a new shop, and as a younger female...I worried about finding a place that would treat me fairly and respectfully. Jack Smith’s Transmission has been the most positive experience I’ve ever had with an auto shop. My car is prone to breaking down, and several times I have had to make last minute appointments for various issues. Each time, the shop is over-the-top accommodating and extremely efficient and honest with their diagnosis and repair at the lowest costs I’ve ever encountered. I once asked them to replace a part and when they discovered it had a bit more life in it...instead of replacing it or leaving it without my knowing and making the money off of it regardless, they were honest and straightforward and left it be, providing me with a thorough explanation as to why they made that decision. I am continually blown away and so grateful for the courtesy and respect they show me. If you’re in search of the best shop in Asheville...in terms of general repairs and maintenance, I can not recommend them more highly. Give them a chance and I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Wonderful service! My car broke down downtown and when I called Jack Smith's they told me to bring it right over. I've been here twice now and the service both times was excellent. They are very knowledgeable. My car is running better than it has in a long time and I'm noticing I'm getting better gas mileage than I was previously. Highly recommend.

Very knowledgeable and honest. Valerie is amazing she's been helping to take care of my cars for years. Mike the technician has also been helpful in keeping me "babies" running. Another gentleman I believe his name was Tim or Tom called me during the process and was very nice and professional as well! You are only charged for the work that actually gets done, and they give you the news about your vehicle in a business-like and straightforward way. Highly recommend this place!

Tom and his team at Jack Smith’s are really terrific to work with; straight forward, good follow up and communication, fair prices, very responsive. My first time there, and they figured out the strange sounds were from a failed transmission mount. They ordered the part quickly, changed the low oil too, for a very reasonable price, and in 24 hours I had my car back in tip top shape. Great folks too! I will take my car there with any issue from now on. Love these people.

Outstanding service. I had scheduled a transmission fluid change, based on the manufacturer's specs, for my 2020 Acura RDX, along with an oil change and a few other services. I got a call from Jack's telling me I didn't need the transmission work, everything was fine, saving me several hundred dollars! Also, their charges for the other services were less than other places I contacted. What a pleasure it is to deal with a truly honest business. They could have just done the work and charged me and I wouldn't have known the difference. Jack's will definitely be my go-to place for future service work.
