Awesome dude, I wouldn’t go anywhere else for repairs or smog check, this guy went way out of his way to help me even though he clearly swamped, for as many customers’ cars I seen go in and out of there, he doesn’t get nearly the recognition he deserves for his work, I felt like other shops will just try to take advantage of you if they see an opportunity but Jay did everything he could to help me out in a tight situation and it was a massive weight of my shoulders, please leave this guy a review if you’ve gone here because he deserves it.

Always my first choice! For me, as a woman, it's really important that I can trust that the person working on my car isn't taking advantage of the fact that I'm a woman by selling me things I don't actually need, or not explaining things in an easy to understand manner. Jay always explains things in a way that I can understand, answers my millions of questions with patience, and is willing to take the time to even show me what he is talking about. He is honest about the work that needs to be done and will tell me if it's something that can wait, all of which I appreciate! I have always had a positive experience.

I had a great experience with Jay’s Automotive & Smog Repair. It was my first visit to their shop and Jay was responsive to my calls and got me in to check what was going on with my jeep. I had a check engine light on and he was efficient and quick to fix the problem. He was very professional and his dog Shilo was the absolute cutest. I was referred to him by Smog Busters and I would recommend this place to others in Chico!

I went to Jay's off a recommendation from a co-worker. I can honestly pass on that recommendation to anyone looking for a auto repair shop. Jay was very professional and honest about his rates. He is definitely more affordable than a lot of places in town, which was the biggest thing for me living paycheck to paycheck. It only took a couple of hours for diagnostics, parts, and the repair before my car was done (I expected it to take a day or two given the part I needed). Jay has definitely earned a returning customer in the future.

After towing my car from Oroville to Chico BMW and it costing more then what I could afford and still didn't get the problem fixed I decided to take it to Jays shop recommendation from a former employee of his. I told him what I went through and what brought me to him and he was very understanding and not only did he work with me on my budget after being ripped off by BMW he fixed my car so I could finally get it smogged and back on the road. Very nice guy and highly recommended for all your mechanical needs! Yay for Jays! 🥳

I recently had to have a series of repairs done on my 20 year old SUV and had them all done at Jay's. The pricing was incredibly reasonable, I really felt like they worked with me, and they were very kind and personable. I didn't end up needing it, but they also work with a finance institution so you can get your repairs financed if you're in a bind. I also really appreciated that I wasn't condescended to at all, as that has happened before with previous mechanics and other repair techs. I will absolutely be going back to Jay's for any future repairs and smogs, and I've already been recommending them to my colleagues and friends.

We took our BMW here for a smog last week and it was definitely a great decision. Jay, the owner, is an extremely friendly person and very knowledgeable. We discussed all sorts of things while waiting for the smog to be completed and he was very friendly the entire time and the work was done quickly.
