The staff at John Nolan is friendly and courteous! They will do their part to get your car serviced and returned back to you when they can! Their timely communication can be better with their client, but all in all, I would recommend this auto repair store to anyone, especially those with a CarMax MaxCare warranty!

I had to take my Carvana car to this place because of the warranty. It was John Nolan or Tire Discounters for a transmission issues. The car ended up needing a new transmission, and it took a while, not there fault. Got the car back, worked, was happy. But I don't really drive this car. So it been a few months I still haven't driven this car a thousand mile yet. But the other day I go to drive the car and it won't start, starter out. So had it towed to the closest shop. They had my car 2 day, which is crazy for a starter. The garage call me and says the start broke because some one worked on the transmission and didn't put the start on correct. Put the wrong bolt in it so it had to be drilled out, why it took so long. How does a mechanic put a starter on wrong? It's 2 or 3 bolts. So I'm out $600. Won't ever go back. O and where the starter bolts on the new transmission are ruined I should have sued them. They basically ruined the transmission. My mechanic drilled the pin out and had to run a bigger bolt in the transmission.

My 2017 Kia Sportage was taking there after going to another shop that told me they could not do anything with my car. My warranty company suggested John Nolan Auto Service. While there it was determined that I needed a new engine. I was going back and forth fighting with my warranty company because they were trying not to cover it. I had decided to give up, and called to let John nolanotta service know that I was not going to be back for the car. I talked to Robert and explained everything, he went to bat for me with the warranty company. By the time it was all said and done the warranty company paid for $99% of the repairs. Now that I have a beautiful rebuilt engine in my vehicle, I will be taking it back there for everything. This is an amazing group of people. They kept me informed, I learned a lot by talking to them about vehicles in general and my vehicle. I highly highly highly recommend them

I am back! Robert the owner reached out to me and apologized for the last high invoice. Robert said it was calculated wrong and gave me credit. They’re close, convenient and do great work. Thanks Larry

I had the worst customer services of my life with a man named Kris. However other staff was perfectly friendly and helpful. He was just absolutely awful. I will not be back. To respond to the comment below, the frustration was not with the price. I understand that transmissions are expensive and the quote could change. It was the fact that he was dismissive and rude. As for another shop, I wasnt communicating with any other shops so thats not possible. Again, other staff I dealt with told me the same thing but they weren't rude. Maybe don't let people who are so easily frustrated deal with customers. In the future before dealing with customer service compliants, I would make sure I understand the issue.

My truck started stalling, and I gave John Nolan a call because they were nearby. They were able to see me, diagnose the issue, and even had the throttle assembly part in stock, and had me back on the road in hours. They were thorough with their explanation and reasonable with their price, especially given the speed. I feel very fortunate they were nearby.

I had the pleasure of meeting John during a service appointment and he took care of my problem immediately. My Subaru had been leaking from the sunroof, so John went out to my car to inspect it himself and found a stick had gotten lodged in the sunroof drainage system. I didn't pay a thing and it was taken care of in less than 5 minutes. Highly recommend John, he's honest and will see you through. Five stars!

These days, who knows if anyone is honest. However, this place here does great work. Anywhere is gonna be expensive but I would say you can count on whatever issue you have being fixed! Really good place!!

My 1959 Ford Galaxie Sunliner has been in their shop since November 2024. Work stalled after months, with the suspension and shocks left unassembled. Communication has been poor, and I am now forced to remove the car. Very disappointing experience

This was for warranty work on a car purchased at Carvana. They got the car in quickly and found the “problem”, that wasn’t a problem, but also found some other issues that were able to be covered under warranty, that we hadn’t specified.

I had my brakes fixed here- it ended up being about $80 more than what they quoted me, not too bad but still a little frustrating. I also noticed my hub cap missing when i picked up my car, but they insisted they did not lose it and the mechanic always puts everything back.

Call down there for a battery and got a price of three to $400 for one. I knew inflation was bad but I didn’t know it was that bad SMH. I would never go somewhere that’s price gouging that much. Thanks anyways buddy

Was told my oil change would be 60-70 dollars in the morning and then was charged 100 in the evening. I understand it was an estimate but to me that’s a big difference. It was more so the misinformation

Car shops are my biggest fear, I started with John Nolan after tire discounters claimed I had a bad ball joint and was dangerous to drive. I brought it to John Nolan and Pete took me out to the garage and showed me nothing was wrong with the ball joint, he showed how it should feel and let me try it as well. That was 5 years ago and that ball joint is there on the car. They don’t fix it unless it is broke and are good at explaining something is dangerous or just needs to be fixed in the future. In over 40 years I have never had such honest service, I have 6 cars in my fleet and they keep them road worthy at a fair price.

My church took an out of town trip to the Cincinnati area. The brake lines malfunctioned and the front breaks/wheels started smoking. This garage was the only one willing to go above and beyond, stay open after hours to get the bus fixed, and get us back to Louisville safely. No extra charges, just good professional work! Matt the mechanic, called a couple days later to check on us. He was knowledgeable about the issue and explain what he was doing, and what would still need to be done in the future. I highly recommend John Nolan Auto Service. Pastor Adam Carter Sr.

This is long but worth a read before moving forward with this business. I’m a recent graduate from Purdue and I just moved to Cincinnati. Money is tight, and I normally do my own car work back home in my dad’s garage, but I don’t have my tools here yet so I brought my car in for a diagnosis. They told me the issue was likely my engine mounts and gave me a quote. I had already installed aftermarket mounts myself before, so I'm familiar with this service. The shop initially quoted $3,600, claiming 20.5 hours of labor for engine mount replacement. Excuse my French, but that’s BS. Anyone who’s done mounts (or any decent mechanic) knows that labor time is wildly inflated. When I questioned how that labor time made sense, they got awkward and dropped it down to $1,100. I also asked about two new tires because mine were cupped. They offered a “buy one get one free” deal, but then quoted one tire at $252, which felt misleading. It gets worse. While my car was there my glove box/console damper hinge was damaged, and it no longer opens/closes correctly. They never mentioned this or fixed it. And somehow a razor blade ended up in the sidewall of my tire while it was in their shop. They said they “found it like that,” but it absolutely was not like that when I brought it in. They claim they “took care of it,” but the fact it happened at all is insane. I attached an image of the broken console / glovebox. The whole experience felt shady and untrustworthy. I’m attaching the invoice they gave me to this review and this was after they reduced the price from $3600 down to $1800 (counting the tires). I encourage you to search up the part numbers and tire they quoted me for on my invoice. The part numbers show they tried quoting Anchor (not OEM) mounts while I specifically asked for OEM Lexus mounts. After looking up these aftermarket parts and tire online, it ended up being $470.06 MORE than retail prices of the parts alone. It felt like they tried to get me to pay OEM price for low quality parts. This is my first ever bad review I've posted anywhere. Just posting this so others can avoid going through the same thing I did. If you're new to the area and trying to get reliable and honest service save yourself the headache and go elsewhere. Good luck to everyone else finding a mechanic. I encourage you to check reviews carefully and get multiple quotes/2nd opinions before agreeing to pay anything. Godspeed.
