Told them something is draining my battery. They kept my truck for 3 days, told me everything was fine and charged me for a diagnosis. They didn't repair anything and yet something is still draining my battery. Do not go there

I towed my car to John's Japanese Auto for an oil leak. After the third day they got to my car. Told me I had a bad turbo, then I towed it back home, towing cost me $270. I asked the lady is the turbo housing cracked and leaking oil? She reponded rudely ,"You have bad turbo." So I replaced the turbo, $749.13 from Amazon and $1200. of labor. Guess what.. still have an oil leak! I was recomended by these people by a friend, I will NOT be doing any business with John"s Japanese ever again. Please for your sake, do NOT bring your car there! This guys are extremely terrible. They don’t know what they doing over there. My car was there for over 2 weeks. They kept telling to buy all kinds of parts that I was so close to selling it for a ridiculous price when another mechanic found out it was just the fuel pump of my car that had a problem. Trust me guys, they are baaaaad!

WORST PLACE EVER!! I took my BMW to replace my Radiator and they said I also needed a Power Steering Pump. The lady at the front desk said it would be cheaper if I got both things fixed at the same time after she wrote out an estimate for me. I went back a week later and she said she didn't give quotes out and her English all of a sudden got "weakened" as if she didn't understand what I was saying. She then gave me a new estimate which was $150 more than the original and all I asked her to do is initial where the new price was and she refused to do so. She stated, "we are a professional business, I don't need sign." This place is BAD!

They will smile and rip you off nicely, and when you go back to complain? English automatically becomes a second language for the lady in the front office. I've spent over $5,000 in bits and still my car is not running. It's all about fast cash for them and we are desperate to be on the road, so what better deal? Love your money? Stay away from these crooks. She went as far as claiming extra money I was sure I paid her, and she made me pay again!!! I cried out of the shop..and they sure won't be seeing me there again.

Awesome services and trustworthy mechanic. Mike fixed my 2010 Toyota Corolla which was in very bad shape but he did very good job at it. They receive phone call promptly and promise only when they are quite sure about it. And they charge minimum from the rest of the mechanics.

DO NOT GO HERE. PLEASE DON’T IF YOU WANT YOUR CAR TO WORK. They did a big repair to my car by changing my two front axles and rotary and my car broke down on the side of the freeway. Due to me moving to another state, they refuse to do anything regarding giving me my money back. I went to another shop when my car broke down and they actually ordered the RIGHT axle from Ford dealership themselves and they told me that the previous shop put in the wrong part. John’s Japanese Auto Repair put in a SMALLER axle in my car, not just one but apparently two. The new auto shop gave me the old part to tell them that it was incorrect and everything. That is so dangerous and completely unprofessional considering I’m trusting you to fix my car. I spent way too much money here to have had the wrong part put in.

I have been going for years. Even still now that I don't live in Irving. I had my old Subaru Impreza, civic, 240sx, Toyota Tacoma, Camry and my girls accord service there over the years. Rather go get parts and have them install it for reasonable labor fee, than any other retail or dealer shop

I would give them zero stars but I can't so here we go... I had just bought a vehicle that needed work, the owner wasn't all the way sure what was wrong with it so I took it to them to get a diagnostic. First off let me tell you, do not take your car here if its domestic, they said they hate working on them. They gave me a price, and said it would only fix half of my problems, 1st and 3rd cylinder misfire, tuneup, new battery, oil change, etc...; it would total up to 832. Which didn't seem right so I took it to another repair shop and they told me I needed a whole new engine!!!! Quoting me around 5,000 dollars. They were going to work on an engine that needed to be replaced and then act like well we told you it only fixed half of your problems. Instead of telling me I needed to replace my whole engine. I know most of you are going here to save money, don't do it seek professional help. Very shady, beware!!!!

Omg! I am super excited while writing this review. John's Japanese Auto are super good at what they do. They fixed oil leaking on our SUV LX 470 and smoking. We went to several places but they couldn't diagnoses the problem. I am official recommending them to all my friends and family members. Thank you again.

I just had my oil changed in this shop and I’ve had a pretty good experience with it. They changed it pretty quickly and the workers are very friendly. Normally when I do work with my car, I get bad experiences from workers attitudes but this one is really friendly and fair prices. Always support your local business shops :)

Heed all these warnings…don’t ever come here. We brought our 2009 Camry to have the rear struts changed. The price the offered seemed fair. After a couple of days they said it was ready and we came to pick it up. Within 5 mins of driving on the highway we notice the car started swaying heavily and we got scared and got off the highway. We call the shop immediately telling the lady what’s wrong. The lady kept on insisting and insisting there’s nothing wrong but let us bring the car back anyways. The next day she called and said there’s absolutely nothing wrong and they did everything correctly. When I came to pick the car back she said that they saw the rear control arms weren’t bolted correctly but accepted no blame for it?? According to her somehow miraculously they became loose by themselves. Funny enough tho after doing some research I do know that you have to remove the control arms to change the struts…so you can see the mechanics here don’t do their job correctly nor do they accept blame for their incompetence. Their mistake could’ve resulted in me getting into a serious accident. I would recommend you pay a couple extra dollars and go to a reputable shop who knows what they’re doing.

I don't like reviewing negatively towards businesses, as I understand this could be a factor for where people go and do their businesses, so I review this place with careful consideration. This was my experience with this place, I had a vehicle that would not start, in fact, the problems began with struggling to crank. I ruled out that it most likely wasn't the battery as it was replaced a year and a half ago. I thought it could probably be a starter issue, so when I explained to the front end person, she said to leave the vehicle with them and they'll investigate. I left, and in about an hour received a call from them saying they found the issue being some loose cables going to the battery. I thought this was probably good news if that's the only issues to why my vehicle struggled to turn on. When I came back to the shop and pick it up, I continued to troubleshoot the vehicle because as much as I wanted to believe it was a minor issue, I wanted to really be sure. The issue remained the same. I had asked the front end person that is it possible that it wasn't the issue if it's still having the same problem. They directed me to talk to the mechanic that worked on my vehicle. This was an older gentleman, I thought I could ask him questions and he could provide answers, but when I persisted that if it could be possible that it's a starter issue, he refused to acknowledge it. He refused because he said he already checked it, and it wasn't it. So the problem now became that it was a battery issue. They suggested I go to where I got the battery since it's still under warranty. They charged me $40 for this service, then after getting my newer battery, I was charged another $70 for a higher end one since my original wasn't in stock. I returned to the shop after it was replaced. The problem was still the same. I stood there with the mechanic, while he was just revving the engine and trying to charge the battery more, saying that in time, it'll go away, just needs to be driven more but that the problem with starting will go away with this new battery. He still would not consider it was another issue other than the battery after asking him again and again, that he checked it. Fast forward 2 weeks later, the vehicle started one last time to drive to another place in Irving, but then was stranded after because there was no crank to start the vehicle. But hey at least the lights were on when the key made contact, so at least it wasn't the battery. We spent more money for a mechanic near the area to tow our vehicle to their shop and for them to work on in. Turns out, just hearing the issues we explained, and them troubleshooting for a couple of minutes, and then confirming after removing the starter from the vehicle that it was the starter being very old (since manufacturing date) and needed to be replaced. He even showed me how after attaching an electric reader that it was faulty. I'm not sure what this place's business model is based off of, but they should really consider who they employ, otherwise, if they blindly trust the person giving bad information and not thoroughly checking, then the entire business is to blame. I won't be returning to this place for any sort of business, and I'd strongly suggest that if you're even consider going here, that you will probably spend your time and money somewhere else, because they might just waste both of those and end up costing you more down the road. I don't think I've ever encountered such a place of business for me to encourage not to go, but this place is definitely it. To the owners, if you're reading this, you really need to audit or review your staff's knowledge or retrain. I wish you the best of luck if you choose to take this advice or not, however, it won't affect me anymore, and I hope this helps others so they don't have to deal with the headache.

The WORST shop in Irving. I took a 07 Nissan to get the catalytic converter replaced, when I was leaving the shop there was some smoke coming from from under the hood. They said that was NORMAL. I get home and my car catches on fire.

No Longer my preferred place. The owner has a temperament of her own. No doubt, this is still the most economical place since they ask you to get your own parts, but communication is such a task without clear diagnosis of the issue.

DO NOT GO HERE!! I brought my car here for AC service and a jerking issue. The mechanic said replacing the engine mounts and changing the transmission fluid would fix it. I agreed to $950+ for the engine mount replacement and AC service. (Didn’t discuss transmission fluid cost yet because there was none available at the time). I left car at shop. I needed car for work so I planned to pick up and use for 2 days, then return it to shop for transmission fluid change. At pickup, the jerking had not improved. I told mechanic since I have new engine mounts, I thought the jerking would’ve improved slightly at the least. The mechanic said once I finish the transmission fluid change, the jerking will be resolved. When I finally bought my car in for the transmission fluid change, I was now told by their receptionist it is not a guaranteed fix. I advised them this is not what the mechanic told me and that I wouldn’t be spending money on a trial and error situation. They then refused to do it, claiming it wasn’t guaranteed to fix the problem — something never mentioned before. I feel misled and disappointed by their dishonesty and poor communication. I do not recommend this shop. I also don’t think the shop cares about reviews. I hope nobody else makes the same mistake that I made.

One of the worst places to ever visit. I visited this garage and met this vietnamese women called Wen at the reception. She asked me to replace my suspension parts for which I was charged $1050 as labour. After completing the job and paying her labour charges, I went back to inform her the next day that there was some rattling noise coming from the rear which was not there before my car got repaired. She asked me to come at 8am the next day which was not possible for me as i work late nights. I just requested her that i can come at 9.30am to which she blatantly refused and told me that they don’t guarantee the repair work. She showed me very bad attitude and was very very rude. I told her to watch her ratings on reviews which is like 2.6 to which she replied, she doesn’t care. I told her that i feel cheated after paying so much and may consider going to court. She replied, that she has recorded my conversation on her phone and I am free to go to court. I will consider my options but will recommend everybody to AVOID going to this garage as the owner is extremely temperamental and does not care for the customer and the job. Just want her money. She will pretend that she is very genuine and customer concerning but don't believe her. To add to my woes, the mechanic by the name Long, one with totally white hair, also has a lot of attitude as after he finished the repairs, we went for a test drive which was a very small run to actually determine whether everything is fine. Once we reached garage, i told him to let me drive and take a test drive along with him so that i can check if everything is ok. He refused to accompany me and told me that everything is fine and asked me to talk to WEN, the owner. She showed such a bad behaviour and told me to pay first and then take a test drive all by myself. I told her that my other car in which i arrived at the garage is lying in her parking lot and my keys for that car is with her, and i am not going to run away anywhere. She handed me the keys of my repaired car for test drive with such a bad face. The owner and the staff wants that all the customers should agree with them and if u have any questions then they get annoyed.
