Came down to Austin for work and the alternator went out in my car, on a Friday no less. Pretty much every place either didn't work on Mitsubishi's, or couldn't get to my car in under 5 days. Lamb's could, and it turned out they were really close to my hotel so I jumped the car and got it over to them. I was expecting to pay out more than 1500 for the part and labor, they ended up charging me 827 and got it back to me the next day, even recharged the battery for me. Solid work, solid price.

Definitely coming back here because they are very knowledgeable and helpful! I feel like they really take the time to look the vehicle over and make sure to keep up with the maintenance of the vehicle and not just the oil change which I really appreciated! Great customer service, glad they are located so close to my work too!

Shout out to the manager Dylan. I was in the middle of trying to purchase a new car and was recommended to check out Lamb Auto Shop. The shop was closing in 30 minutes but Dylan still welcomed me with open arms. I can’t say the same for the two front desk guys. We weren’t even acknowledged or greeted. I’ll chalk that up to them having a long day and being ready to go, not anything personal or racial. I’ll let that one slide. Back to Dylan. He personally looked underneath the vehicle I was interested in and pointed out a lot of issues. He gave me his honest opinion and even helped me out with a discount on my next vehicle. I would recommend going back. They just need to work on their front desk service.

This place has really been a lifesaver since I moved to Texas. They went above and beyond to keep my piece of crap car alive as long as possible, always fitting me in when it would break down at the most inconvenient moment. Thanks to a new vehicle, I haven't needed their services for a bit - but in a pinch, they were able to do my emissions testing on a walk-in basis with only a 15 minute wait. I live in South Austin now but I'll gladly make the drive every time to give this shop my business.

Definitely better than Jiffy Lube. That said they will try to upsell you. Just go with the cheapest fix. Got my oil change. Got my diagnostic. And they were honest about the expense and necessity of the recommended repairs. Gave me an idea of how long my 13 year old car is worth driving based on the cost of the recommended repairs. Otherwise, the online appointment system is great. Service was done in about an hour. Communication excellent.

Pros: I appreciated them driving to pick up the tire that I preferred (which their website had said was in stock already), and they performed my tire replacement in a timely manner. Cons: I was charged $129 for a “free alignment check” which I did not ask for. They also tried to charge me a much higher price for the tires than what was listed on their website. Luckily, I had a quote sent to my email which I showed them. They also tried to enroll me in a tire protection plan without any explanation until I refused it. I feel ripped off and will not return here.

Lamb’s did an awesome job of having a super quick turnaround time on switching out my TPMS for my tires. I’m a shade tree mechanic, but it proved way too labor intensive for me to want to do that myself without a tire machine. I’d already purchased the new sensors and Lamb’s had no qualms about simply installing the ones I bought, plus they also checked for compatibility on them before I left to be sure they were good. Lamb’s all the way

Lamb's is the ONLY place in Austin I go for car service. Consistently quick, high-quality service and fair prices. Just today they saved me $600 on the exorbitant price my dealership wanted to charge me for routine maintenance. 5/5

Having to get emergency auto work done is never fun, but the crew here at Lamb’s made the process as painless as possible! I had to get my starter replaced in the morning, and I couldn’t get my shift covered at work, but the crew at this garage ordered the part, installed it, and had me out the door in just a couple of hours! Special shoutout to Michael for his excellent manners and professionalism, and thanks to the whole team here for getting me back where I needed to be!

Inflated prices for unnecessary repairs and emotionally manipulative sales tactics. I have never left a review for any place, but it feels necessary. I brought in my 2018 Accord one evening because the battery kept going dead. Lamb’s took a look at it the next day and got back to me that it would be $1,400 to replace the alternator. That’s $600 for the most expensive alternator on the market, and $800 in labor for supposedly three hours of labour. I spoke to a friend who immediately told me he knew many folks that had bad experiences with Lamb’s. But I had to leave town in a couple days, so I just bought an alternator for $400 at AutoZone, and then had my insurance company tow my car from Lamb’s to another place my friend recommended nearby, MBC Service Center. The tow truck arrived early and picked up the car from Lamb’s and brought it to MBC. I wasn’t aware of this, so I showed up to Lamb’s. When I got there, they did NOT tell me that my car had been taken already, and insisted that I pay a diagnosis fee. I said I had not heard anything about a diagnosis fee in advance. The guy at the counter went away for a couple minutes, and came back with his boss who said they would waive the $150 diagnosis fee but just charge me $30. I understand paying a fee to have a problem diagnosed, but if felt dishonest as I had not heard about it beforehand. The boss immediately started speaking with an aggressive, angry tone. After a minute or so, I said I would like to bring down the tone of the conversation. When he continued, I said again that I was not going to participate in a conversation with this tone. He then just switched to, “it’s fine, you can go”. Again, I know places have diagnosis fees, and I just spent $400 on an alternator, so I’m up to pay for it good products and service, but I wasn’t told about in advance, and from the way that the conversation immediately went to anger, it felt like a calculated manipulative sales tactic on his part. Some places get very good at working with people’s emotions all day long to extract the most value. And it felt like when I called that out, he immediately gave up like it just wasn’t worth it. The real kicker is that when I brought the car and new alternator into MBC nearby. They replaced the alternator, but when I came in to get the car, they said they were sorry, but after they replaced the alternator, they had figured out that one of the connections to my battery was not connecting properly and they had fixed it with tinfoil paper. The guy at MBC said that replacing my alternator was probably not necessary, the connection was just bad. I don’t see a reason for MBC to have told me about that, other than that they were just being honest, as the work had already been done they would get paid anyway. MBC only ended up charging me $300 in labor and it only took two hours, as opposed to $800 that Lamb’s would’ve charged for the same service. The newer accords like mine are a bit more complicated to do alternator switches, as opposed to older models which only taken an hour or so. So in all, I probably could’ve just paid $50 bucks to have the faulty battery connection fixed, as opposed to the $700 that I actually paid to replace the alternator, and definitely as opposed to the $1400 that Lamb’s wanted to charge me. I understand that not everybody is going to find every solution, but it does seem that Lamb’s wanted it to be as expensive as possible. I probably fell for the alternator bit, as I was in a rush preparing for an upcoming trip. I’ve had other experiences with chain shops like this trying to charge $1,000 or more for unnecessary repairs, and then going to a local guy who finds a simple solution to the problem for less than $100. I highly suggest NOT going to Lamb’s. Go to MBC service center nearby or another local spot instead.

Service Required: Tire Puncture Patch/Seal Place suggested by my buddy and the good reviews solidified my decision. I left my car in their parking lot, talked to S. Guerrero, gave me a quick rundown at 10am and indicated a 2 hour wait or 2pm appointment option, I chose the 2 hr wait. At 12:44pm, I get their Vehicle Condition Report but was not notified of the tire puncture repair job I wait almost 2 more hours, then check in. I come back at 2pm to see 2 employees in my car, I ask when the car will be finished and am told it's being worked on but the car will not start, I ask to start the car myself and am handed keys that are not the keys I left and tell him, he then returns to the office to get the correct keys. At this time, I notice damage which appear to be caused from a hammer, accompanied by scratches on my driver side passenger door which were not on my car before. The employee returns to tell me my car is all set. I speak with Guerrero and through small talk mentions he takes pictures of all cars that come into the shop, I ask to see pictures on file of my car and the damage had already been present on my door. I ask about the hammer damage and to summarize his response, if someone at the shop had done it, they would take ownership and would have notified me, but [LAMB'S Tire & Automotive] will not take ownership of this damage that was caused on their property. Also that there's no guarantee the tire job will be a done deal. Guerrero maintained a respectful tone throughout our exchange. 4 hours of waiting and my prize is I get to walk away with a damaged car and uncertainty. Incredibly painful experience overall and I have tremendous regret for choosing this location. Would not recommend, if anything happens to your car before they take a picture while it's at there shop, SORRY OUTTA LUCK. *** 1 week update *** To anyone reading, notice the clever wordplay they used: "We will address the issues mentioned" Do not be fooled by the words of this wolf in disguise. Clever wordplay, soft implications, and understandable assumptions leads you to believe they intend to contact the customer since I am the one that experienced the issues, but how long does it take to reach out if the intent was true? I recently took my car to Lamb's on N Lamar for further diagnostics after getting an initial read from AutoZone. Based on their advice, I brought it in and I’m so glad I did. The front desk staff were incredibly attentive and kind. They were able to service my car the same day and ultimately let me know that it was nothing serious just a code that needed to be reset. What stood out the most was how trustworthy they felt. They didn’t try to upsell me or pressure me into paying for unnecessary repairs, which has unfortunately been my experience at other dealerships. I left feeling safe, respected, and taken care of. I plan to become a regular customer and just wanted to applaud them for their honest, high-quality service. Highly recommend!

Absolutely love everyone who works here. James is such a leader, and he runs a tight ship. My partner and I get the best service from these guys, and we are thankful how close they are. I know Lamb’s was acquired some years ago by Sun Automotive, much like many local businesses in Austin are acquired or being acquired by corporations these days, but as a local, these guys stay true to the values of Lamb’s and to the values of what makes Austin such a special place to live. Keep it up, y’all! It’s so appreciated :)

Best experience I could ask for! Went to the dealership and was given a bogus quote that was way over priced. Came here and they heard my concerns and helped me choose what actual services I needed. Ended up paying $500 cheaper than the dealership. They are fast, convenient, and extremely helpful. Love how they answered every question and made me feel comfortable.

This Lamb’s location is outstanding. I’ve had work done here twice this year, both a full brake replacement and now also a battery test/replacement; Both times my car was taken great care of, and at a fair price. These gentleman are consistently honest and professional, and shoutout to James for wonderful customer service. Will continue to return, and thank you so much to the staff here. :)

Just a battery change but still, excellent. Mike very nice on phone and Philip and other gentleman who took care of me, very nice and in and out quick. Not cheap but no place is these days. Doubt it’s any cheaper anywhere else and Lamb’s has a great reputation. Hope I’m reviewing the right store, I went to 5405 N Lamar store here in Austin.

The boys at this spot are awesome. Every time I’ve been they are quick, super polite, and straight forward. I’ve gone to a variety of Lambs since I started driving 21yrs ago. I give 5 stars for service and hospitality. Nice to my dog. I’ve only used them for oil changes. I’ve had two other oil changes since the last time I came here. Both of which were significantly cheaper. One in dripping Springs was about $20 cheaper and another in Cedar Park about $25 cheaper. But I also understand that they have a prime location on North Lamar here close to downtown Austin and I’m sure rent is higher. Therefore they must charge a little more for an oil change. Which makes complete sense. If I want to save money, I need to plan ahead. Expect to pay a little more, and expect a great experience with great service.
