I've been taking my 73 autistic super beetle to LaVere's for years and they are great at getting my bug back on the road.

Stumbled on this little gem by accident. Stopped in for a friend for a few minutes and talked with one of the guys about a Westy. I could of been there for hours learning more info. But I had to leave. :( Really good place to go. Not sure on prices since I wasn't getting anything done but I have to say if I owned a car they could work on I would be there again. I'll refer everyone I know there.

The only shop I trust with my 69 beetle! The staff is great and Gary (the owner) is always ready with advice. You can tell they love VWs!

*Part 1 I knew Gary LaVere lived up to his stellar reputation when he fixed my daughter's VW bug last year. Most mechanics would see two women coming in with a car repair and take advantage. He didn't. He treated us with respect, told us exactly what was wrong with the car, and fixed it for far less than we thought we'd have to pay. I bought a 1969 Karmann Ghia a few weeks after my Dad passed away four years ago in 2017. It's always been my dream car. It ran for a few weeks, broke down, and hasn't run since. It's been sitting in my parking lot for four years. When my property manager gave me a week to move it or they'd have it towed, Gary came on his day off, ready to change two flat tires, to hook it up to a tow bar and tow it to his shop, where it's currently waiting for repairs. Not only does Gary know his cars, he does the work with integrity and a true love for VW's. I know he will do right by me and my car. He knows that for me, it's not just a car. It's a dream car. *I will keep adding my reviews as Gary progresses with the work.

Jason was a pleasure to work with. The owner, Gary, however, only responds to male customers. Hence, 99.9% of the positive reviews are from the male species. Gary, the owner, treats women with disdain. Women; there are many choices available to get a simple car maintenance service and where your patronage is appreciated - avoid this place.

Took my 2002 Cabrio at the recommendation of a friend. They are super friendly and kind, stand behind their work (with a 90 day warranty!), and take the time to communicate updates as they go. They were timely, and did their best to work within my budget constraints by identifying "must do" work and "can wait a bit" work, clearly discussing costs in advance, and explaining the tradeoffs I might face for different types of parts. I had a great experience with them and will definitely be going back next time I need work done.

I have had numerous positive experiences and transactions with Gary over the years - not only vehicle repairs, but 2 classic VW vehicle purchases as well. Gary is a straight shooter that you can trust and he's also like a walking talking VW encyclopedia. His 50+ years of VW/Audi knowledge is amazing and interesting and he's always willing to answer questions - and usually with some humor. He also has 2 (at least) top mechanics that have been with him forever, and the continuity & synergy w/ his staff/crew is very apparent. I highly recommended Gary and his shop for any/all VW/Audi needs.

That bad service ever I had. if you need change oil, rotate tires or randomly replace the part that "looks like broken" -- use this service. I came here with my Golf TDI about the DPF issue. they replaced EGR valve and charged me $1300. the issue came back in a week. I came there 2nd time, and they replaced the rubber pipe for $700. coming back to home, my car stopped and the engine did not start. AAA bring the car back tho them. in 2 weeks they was "out of ideas", and replaced the O2 sensor and fuel filter for $500 -- and by car is not starting. So I can't set negative value, but $2500 and 3 weeks for a completely broken car is more than enough. Worst service ever I had. I'd like to set a negative value, but I can't.

If I could give 10 stars, I would! The words honest and mechanic aren't usually mutually exclusive, but I cannot express how appreciative I am about the honest work I received from Gary & Jason. This was my second excellent experience at Lavere's and I will remain a customer for as long as I have my Audi. The dealership gave me a diagnosis that was going to cost double what I was charged here. The convenient after hours drop off had my car ready to go the next day and it's driving great. Thanks again to Gary & Jason for the great service :)

I have taken my transporter to LaVeres for a number of years and will keep doing so. Gary's crew is great and takes good care of me. They have pretty much gone through my bus from front to back. Matt the electrician, put in all new wiring harnesses. Awesome job. Scott one of the mechanics keeps everything running smoothly.

ALWAYS have had an amazing experience at this shop with both Gary the owner and a tech Jason. Never any unexpected squirreliness or games, just straight up work done as promised, and they are super fast at turnaround. Most times, fairly major lust of things take shops weeks. They turn out in a day or two. They are imo just on point by knowing their craft and executing it flawlessly. And to Gary, what a stand up gentleman he was one time- ill never forget it. I was unintentionally "forgotten" about by my sig other fir needing picked up after dropping off car for service. After attempts to reach my ride going unanswered, Gary offered to drive me home- to Bay Point, in height of eve traffic before retiring home himself after a long day. He will forever be a bit above any car repair shop around for that kindness and it makes me want to consider the brand more for future purposes strictly because I know I can count on that much more longevity as a whole when the repair shop cares as much about the cars as I do! Be seeing you guys soon, my bug tried to hitch a ride on vacation with my neighbors trailer and got some booboos needing fixing lol...

My experience was not good. They rebuilt my motor. It took them 6 months and it cost close to 7000 dollars. I'm now told by other mechanics that this was way too expensive. I've had other work done there as well and not only do they take forever, ( not sure why), it felt like my car was a low priority and I don't appreciate being treated as such. And the charges have always been exorbitant. And it seems I'm still left with problems. They aren't thorough. I don't know if they don't know much about my 68 VW or if they're just careless but the work has not been consistently good and my car has never run well after their service. So...sorry. Can't recommend them.

Not a good value for my money. I brought the car in because the engine would shut off after turning the car on. They couldn't fix the problem, but they upsold me on $1400 in suspension work. I had to junk the car eventually because of the engine shutting off. The original problem was never fix so I spent money for nothing. It took me about a year to pay off my credit card. I would never trust this shop again.

The most experienced mechanics that I’ve had work on my car in years. The service professionals at LaVere’s fixed my Audi for a fraction of the cost quoted by the Audi Concord dealership’s green ‘technicians’. Unlike those dealership mechanics, who both lack training and seem to only rely on costly trial and error triage rather than experience in diagnosing and fixing issues, LaVere’s was knowledgeable, fast, courteous, skilled, and honest. My car just dropped out of its manufacturer’s warranty and so I’ll be using LaVere’s going forward and would recommend them to others.

I brought my Audi diesel to the shop due to a coolant leak and heating issues. The team was highly professional and kept me updated throughout the process. While the cost wasn’t cheap—expected for a German car—the pricing was fair considering the extensive work required. They had to remove the intake manifold, replace all the hoses, and address the oil coolant system. Overall, I’m very satisfied with their service and would recommend them for anyone needing reliable work on their vehicle.

New Update: I recently had the pleasure of taking my car to Gary's auto shop, and I can't say enough good things about my experience. After a frustrating month dealing with another local shop that left me feeling financially drained and disappointed, Gary was a breath of fresh air. From the moment I walked in, his genuine and wonderful personality shone through. He took the time to listen to my concerns and fully understood the situation I was in. Unlike my previous experience, where I felt like just another number, Gary made me feel valued as a customer. Despite being busy with other clients, he managed to address 99% of the issues with my vehicle in just a few weeks. His efficiency and commitment to quality work are truly commendable. It was clear that he prioritizes customer satisfaction above all else. Hats off to Gary for his outstanding customer relationships and the care he puts into his work. If you're looking for an auto shop that combines professionalism with a personal touch, look no further. I highly recommend Gary's auto shop—he's definitely earned my trust and future business! Previous review: I took my buddy’s car to Gary’s shop several weeks ago, and he did an outstanding job clearing the unnecessary codes that were displayed on my buddy’s 2012 Audi A6. He's a genuine guy with a great personality. All the staff at his shop are great. 👍

Ultimately my car was repaired, but the process involved multiple avoidable issues. Costs exceeded what I authorized without prior approval, mismatched parts were initially installed, and I had to return multiple times after post-repair warnings appeared. The shop eventually corrected the issues, but communication and quality control were inconsistent. I recommend future customers confirm authorizations, matching parts, and whether calibrations can be performed before approving work.
