Since none of the big auto service chains will accept "customer-supplied" Parts, and there are almost no factory parts left in my car and wanted to install a "racing clutch in my supercharged,190mph 2002 Celica I had to find someone to do it AND THANK GOODNESS I FOUND LAAY'S! The complexity of the job, the turnaround time, and the quality of the work was phonomenal

As another person stated, I called a few days ago and a super nice lady answered the phone. Then she handed it off to Chuck and he was a raging jerk. Don’t waste your time here!

Was blown off by "Chuck" when I inquired into previous work done there on my car that was sub-contracted from another named service shop. He said "that never happens".He was found to be wrong. Poor records & communication.

Transmission went out when I was on my way home to North Carolina . My car was towed to their shop while I got a rental car. I spoke with Chuck over the phone as the car was being taken to him. My car was kept at their shop for three weeks (my choice) before any work was started. When they had a show period, Chuck contacted me saying he'd like to start the work. My car was finished and kept for another two weeks until I could return to get it. Great communication and assistance from the shop.

Can't judge the work, but owner very rude to writer. My auto was dropped off when told to, but nothing done fore a day and a half.. I called 3 times after being told I would hear something soon, and he would call me after lunch, an hour and half later I called, he came to phone started yelling at me. for calling five times. he hadn't had auto for 24 hrs yet, and then started with JUST COME AND GET IT. I can't help if he is having a bad day, but just because I'm an older woman I feel he thought he could talk to me like that. I tried not to get defensive, and held my tongue. My husband picked up the auto needless to say. We didn't care how long it was going to take for repairs, just say it will be more days rather than trying to tell people what you think they want to hear. Because of this, I could never deal with them again

I got quoted $ $2,600 to rebuild a transmission for a supposedly bad pump. I picked up my truck from there and it worked just fine turns out my truck has an electrical problem with the transmission much like many others of the same model and year. You think that a transmission shop would know this but I guess it's easier to charge someone almost $3,000 to fix a $400 problem thank goodness for second opinions. On a positive note everyone is real nice but I guess I'd be nice too if I was going to overcharge you $2,200... UPDATE: It's 3/23/2018 and my transmission is still going strong after 14 months and 15,000 miles. I still haven't had anything done to it.

Spoke to a wonderful lady who sent me to “chuck”. I’m not sure if he woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I called for bringing and overdrive unit to be serviced(disassembled). Immediately shut me down told me I was in over my head and all this and I should go find elsewhere to take my business. Therefore I did. And alders transmission will hear you out over shutting you down

I am not able to write a review that will do justice to the level of pure disappointment and disgust I now have towards Lay's Transmission. I was recommended by a friend who has used Lay's in the past to trust them with the rebuild of my transmission. Lay's originally quoted me $2,200 for parts and labor. I then jumped through hoops to get my disabled vehicle to their shop. The following day they called me to notify me that the price had changed to $4,400 BEFORE PARTS!! They had no explanation for the increase other than, "Re-evaluated the labor". I asked them to let me think about it before I commit. I called back two days later to tell them I could not afford the rebuild. They replied with, "What can you do it for", I said $3,000 max. Then all of a sudden the price became $3,000. These guys were trying to take me for a ride. I would not trust them with your lawnmower.

Had a 6l80E transmission rebuilt with these guys out of a 2009 GMC Sierra 4x4. This was one of the only places in town that would actually rebuild this unit. Most wanted to purchase a remanufactured transmission and swap out. So far very pleased with both their compeititveness and timelyness on the service performed. I dropped off the vehicle on a Friday late afternoon, and was informed on Thursday morning the vehicle was done. A call on Wednesday to advise vehicle would be ready Thursday first thing would have been nice so I could have organized a ride to pickup sooner but im not going to remove any stars for that. So far transmission is working as it should. I have called back once because vehicle was downshifting a little funny. Chuck explained that this is fairly normal for 6+ speed transmissions. Overall satisfied with my experience and would work with these guys again.

Made me feel immediately comfortable as if I had been there 1000 times. They went above and beyond, to insure, I not only got my 2002 dodge ram 1500 4x4 back in the same day, but also that they fixed what was actually wrong with my truck. No up selling, just honest diagnosis, and repairs I could actually afford. Thanks a million times Lays, you guys (and gals), are awesome to say the least. I would recommend them to anyone, and everyone as transmission experts.

Great place, they do great work. On the expensive side, but they stand behind their work. 18 months or 18,000 miles. I have had 3 work truck transmissions rebuilt there, 2 or them have 70,000 miles on them and we tow 12,000 lbs trailers behind our trucks.

I went in and try to talk to a service writer. He was rude and swearing at me. Told me he didn't have time to do a transmission filter and transmission fluid change. Then proceeded to tell me he would have to charge $500 dollars to make any money. Plus said didn't have enough techs. Who talks that way to a paying customer. I've been in the automotive industry for 35 years. Never been treated that way before. I would absolutely not go there.

We had a great experience with Lay's Transmission. They fixed our transmission quickly and saved us a lot of money. A 'dealer' quoted us 8 grand for new transmission and Lays was able to identify the real problem which was amazing. Brad was friendly and knowledgeable, and we will definitely be using this business from now on!! Thank you
