These guys are great. Had engine trouble one morning so I called them up and they got me right in. They diagnosed the problem, explained it thoroughly to me, and fixed it the same day. Great customer service!

Amazing! Upfront and honest! Very knowledgeable in all aspects! Great service and the people are incredibly nice. This is the only place I go to and trust! If you don't do business with McCalley Mechanics you're just asking for more problems and spending more money down the road.

This is where you can find one of the last honest mechanics in the city. I have always been treated fairly and given fair opinions of the value of the repair compared to the value of the car. He’s great!

I was on my way back from vermont heading towards colorado. I had to be to work on Tuesday and it was Sunday night. As we were going through Des Moines the alternator blew out. The next morning I went to his shop and he was the earlier than the hours posted on his door. He allowed me in and I explained to him the situation I was in. He was superbly friendly and his wall was plastered with certificates and different things. I honestly didn't think he was going to be able to do anything about it that day, most mechanics need some notice. He ended up taking me telling me he had one guy ahead of me. I talked to him a little before eight in the morning and he had me on the road by 10 something. He was fast, reliable, and friendly. I would suggest his service to anyone.

They swapped the starter in my Jeep Commander (no small task given the location of the starter). In one day we had it back and it is running perfectly. The price was reasonable and the owner is a good guy.

Great service. My van was leaking coolant pretty bad. I dropped it off Wednesday afternoon and Phil had a new radiator in by the next day. McCalley provided great, friendly service. I would recommend to anyone

Could have sold me a starter and I wouldn't have questioned it. All I needed were new battery cables. Honest, knowledgeable, and fast! I will definitely make him my first call when I need a mechanic again.

I used to dread having somebody work on my car just because I was afraid of the bill I'm going to get. This guy will not screw you over and say stuff needs fixed that don't. He will look at what's wrong give u a call and u know exactly what needs fixed and what it will cost not a penny more. There is good Is mechanics out there and he is the best

Phil is one of the best mechanics I have ever met. He is honest and will give it to you straight--letting you know if something really needs to be replaced or not. He has done fantastic work on several of our vehicles. In a world where honesty, integrity, and friendly service are all hard to come by Phil is a refreshing reminder that they do in fact still exist!

The only mechanic that I trust to do the job right. Phil has fixed the incompetent work done on my car by others. We are talking about using the wrong parts for brakes (pretty important in my book) and installing them correctly (even more important)

I took my wife’s jeep here to have a drivers side cv joint checked and replaced, they not only replaced it without calling first but the replaced the one on the passenger side by mistake. Admitting that it wasn’t in need of repair.

Phil McCalley was an amazing, honest, kind, patient mechanic, sort of what I would picture a grandpa mechanic to be like. I ran into him during the second day of my move from Utah to Indiana. I was in an old car full of all my stuff, pulled off for gas in outer Des Moines and heard a horrendous knocking from my engine once I got off the loud interstate. Luckily, McCalley Mechanics was just up the road, and he helped me immediately after hearing my predicament. He and his son came out to listen to my engine, definitely something wrong, but they couldn't pinpoint exactly what. They suggested that I DON'T drive it the last 6.5 hours to get to where I needed to be. I'm just a 20-something year-old girl that got stranded in Des Moines, and Phil, his wife, and his son all did everything they could to make sure I had any help that I needed. This is why I think of him as a grandpa mechanic - he was just taking care of me during my stressful move. I had to get to Indiana that day, so I took probably about an hour to figure out my solution: get a rental car, transfer most of my stuff, and take it the rest of the way. Phil was very helpful - he drove me down to the Enterprise 10min down the road and offered to help me move my boxes between my cars. It didn't rain that day, but he told me if it did start spitting on me as I was transferring boxes, he'd make space for me in the garage so I didn't have to get drenched in the rain. Just a kind mechanic. Once I was taken care of, he sent me a diagnostic text the next day - the engine threw a rod, and would have to be replaced. $4-4.5k. I waffled on the decision for about a week before I found and bought a different car in Indiana. I called and apologized for taking so long to think it over, but Phil didn't mind, he just told me he'd waive the diagnostic fee & buy the crap car off me to get recycled. When my dad and I showed up a week and a half later to pick up the rest of my boxes, he was just as kind, friendly, and helpful. Would highly recommend to anyone who gets car troubles. It was clear he just cared about helping me get out of a crappy situation, and he was kind at every point.

Phil is the best GM mechanic in town. I've known Phil, Phillip and Patrick since high school. Genuine ACDelco, warranty work, etc. If you own a GM or Pontiac they are the first call for repair I cannot do myself. Phil's son, Phillip, runs the body shop out back. One of Phillips pride and joy's is a 3rd Gen Camaro. I appreciate his attention to detail and always prefer to take my car to someone who is an enthusiast for 3rd Gen Camaros as well.
