SERVICE REVIEW 1st then SALES experience review: Have had service done here before, no issues. I am one to judge a place more on how they handle a situation gone sour than how they do when everything goes perfectly. Dropped off our car evening before for a 7am appointment for an oil change. Next morning they send additional suggested service of doing an alignment as the tires aren't wearing evenly. I approve the service through the link and at end of day still havent heard from anyone. long story short they still ended up not having it ready by end of day due to errors on their end. The next day I still never heard from anyone so I called them at 5pm to find out why and again they had mix-ups on communication the car had been done pretty much all day and they never let me know. (this is uncharacteristic from my previous experiences there) Kyle the service Dept supervisor agreed to waive a fair portion of my service cost AND had the car delivered to my house instead of having to pick it up. This is great service putting the customer first when they dropped the ball. 5 stars! SALES REVIEW: Christian Castillo worked with us multiple times on a previous car purchase with test drives and such but ended up not having the one in stock that we were really looking for so we ended up buying from an out of state Hyundai dealership. He was still so genuine and excited for us and so supportive and helpful we wanted to go back to him and find something we could buy FROM HIM this time. he was again awesome and got us lined up with a really nice N Line Tucson. No pressure, no tricks, just the way sales should always be. We could have easily found a car elsewhere that we liked but he worked hard and found one we were happy with QUICKLY and even managed to get the cost down a little and get some extra miles on our extended warranty and such to make it check all our boxes. Ask for Christian and tell him I sent you!

The key takeaway is that we would not recommend a Hyundai Ioniq nor would we recommend the McCarthy Service Department. We are leasing a 2024 Hyundai Ioniq and have had multiple repairs (covered by warranty) as well as multiple recalls. The AC went out after 15 months of ownership, an electrical malfunction (ICU and high voltage fuse) at about 20 months of ownership, another electrical issue warning a few months later. When the AC failed it took the service department 2 1/2 weeks to repair the car. The first electrical issue required a tow service as the car died on the way to the service department. That repair took the service department over a week to repair. Based on initial estimates it will take several days to repair the current electrical issue. Unfortunately, each time we have taken the car in for service we have been told that they have to run diagnostics before they can provide a loaner car; however, they are happy to rent us a car. I find it unusual that the display in the car is essentially flashing a diagnostics warning light and yet they are not able to provide a loaner until they run their own diagnostics. This seems more like a pretext to deny customers a loaner car when their car requires warranty service. Then 1-2 days later they run their diagnostics and determine the issue is covered by warranty. Then I can come back to the dealership and get a loaner car if they have one available. Maybe this is just the Hyundai way to do business but it is exhausting from a customer perspective.

I had a challenging experience partly due to insurance company delays but Kyle Tompkins (Service Manager) was very helpful in making sure it was quickly addressed. Kyle is very knowledgeable when it comes to car repair operations, an incredible manager and an all around kind human being. Bought a 2026 Palisade on 2/20/2026. Sales people were very pleasant but just not knowledgeable on the details of the Palisade. The guy we started with switched us off to another guy who was even less knowledgeable. He took us to the service department and we learned a lot there. Sales manager was AOK and gave us a fair price for our trade in. Business manager was super nice. Luckily we were able to return to the dealership the next day and we connected with a salesman named Christian. This guy knew all the details and was able to get us set up to our satisfaction. We really like the vehicle. 4 stars may be a bit harsh, but I told them from the beginning that I wanted to know all the features.

I moved to Olathe in 2018. My 2016 Hyundai Sonata was always serviced at McCarthy Hyundai after my move. Last year at 102,000 miles my engine developed a serious problem requiring a new engine. McCarthy worked with the Hyundai Engineers and came up with a plan where a rebuilt engine would be installed with a small token expense from me. They told me they valued my loyalty to them and they stood by my side. They helped when I needed help. I just traded the 2016 Hyundai Sonora for a 2026 Tucson. The low pressure, support my wife and I received from Christian was outstanding. The after sale support we have received has exceeded all expectations. McCarthy Hyundai is our car dealership.

DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR TO THIS FACILITY IF YOU WANT TRUE DIAGNOSIS. THEY LOVE TO ARTIFICIALLY INFLATE COST'S TO PAY FOR THEIR BRAND NEW SHOP: My wife's Hyundai GT was experiencing low performance issues and we brought it to McCarthy Olathe Hyundai for a check-up on December 26th. We kept having to call to find out what the issues were until Tuesday afternoon the 30th. They finally told me that there were approximately $7,800 worth of repairs needed, including, all four Coils being bad, the catalytic converter needing replaced and all the spark plugs being bad, as well as front & rear breaks and rotors bad. I did not trust the diagnosis, so I brought it to Platinum Automotive in Lansing Kansas instead. They diagnosed ONE coil pack needing repaired, and all spark plugs needing replaced as well as a rear break job needing done, not front & rear and Rotors. The total cost of repairs actually done was $1646.54, and included a transmission oil exchange service that was overdue, and the car runs smoother than ever without the extra $6,254 artificial inflation of needless repairs.

Second purchase at McCarthy Olathe Hyundai and had another no pressure straightforward experience. After my wife had an accident we were unexpectedly back in the market. Ruben our sales representative took care of us very well and really listened. He cared more than just the sale, an example below. Small detail but meaningful: My wife is Korean and I told him in passing about the Korean car buying experience where the car is delivered with all the plastic and wrapping still on the interior for the customer to take off. When he got us the Santa Fe we wanted he told the detailers to keep all the plastic wrapping on as a surprise. My wife was very surprised and funny enough made her day (beyond getting a new car)! I also had to bring my kids to finance signing and Ruben brought them drinks and snacks, a very kind and thoughtful gesture. Appreciate the job Ruben did and will continue to refer McCarthy Hyundai.

The sales agent Kamron Kyori went above and beyond. We were just picking up our broken Toyota from the service center next door and stopped by the Hyundai dealership just to test drive an elantra or a sonata. He listened carefully to what I was looking for and told him we're just browsing and test driving we have no plans to purchase today. He respected that and took his time. He knew when to present the proposal and was willing to work with us so we can afford the monthly payments. We walked out of that dealership a converted Hyundai fan and gave us the best match, best bang for the buck for us that we can afford. The elantra is comparable to the Toyota corolla in price but the features that the elantra hybrid has as well as it's warranties for that price point can't be beat. I now own a pimped out heated leather seats hybrid elantra for the price of an entry level non hybrid Toyota corolla. Kamron is not just a great sales man but has a good heart. He made sure gas is topped off, car is washed and sparkling and all the details perfected and squared away. He made sure to remove my Yeshua Hamashiach license plates from one of the 2 prius hybrids we traded for the new elantra hybrid. If you're sick and tired of old prius' costly repairs, give Hyundai a chance. The warranties just do not compare. BTW when I was in Korea I chatted with a European sports car engineer he said they were hired by Hyundai to design their cars. True enough when I test drove a corolla I felt like a pauper but when I test drove an elantra I felt like big bucks. Boost of confidence for sure. Also the close to 50 mpg can't be beat. Im using this car to doordash as well so im pretty excited by the gas savings.
