Authentic locally owned hardware store and lots more. You can probably find anything you need here, including very friendly and knowledgeable employees. Hardware (nuts and bolts section ) once boasted over 10,000 items! I always go here first before the “big box” stores to support local workers and keep my money in the community. That they have whatever I need is a bonus. Sometimes we just to to learn about products and alternatives to fixing, building, repairing that we may not have discovered yet. Best in the area for sure.

McGuckin’s has everything you could possibly need, along with incredibly helpful employees. I came in for help with a plumbing project, and TJ was an absolute superstar. He was knowledgeable, patient, and explained exactly what parts I needed and how to install them. Thanks to his expert guidance, I was able to complete the project myself and save hundreds on a plumber. 7/4/22- I'm not sure if you should call this place a hardware store or not. They spend more room on socks then they do for kitchen or bath features but together. This is more like a store of the random. If you are looking for something specific they may not have it but you may just see something you want in the toy section. They even have a school supply/office section. They also have a pet section that is bigger then most grocery stores have.

A great generic response from the McGuckins owner who has gotten rich by creating a false sense of virtuous “buy local” BS to his benefit not ours. OK - they’ve been in business 70 years and now they really appreciate my help in improving customer service!!! I doubt if anything close to this response would have ever come from their original owner! The entire McGuckins management team can provide no help at all with purchasing a simple replacement cushion cover from one of their large dollar merchandise vendors. Never again. Zero after sales service. Bought a simple patio set a few years ago for $869 - the same set they’ve been selling in subsequent years for $659 - oh well that’s life - trying our best to support supposedly local businesses. A raccoon or some kind of animal tore up one of the seat cushion covers. Tried to get some help from multiple employees multiple times including someone who claimed to be the buyer - a very unfriendly Richard and another a manager Ian who all promised to get back to us. Never happened. Nothing. Not one call back. On our own we found out the Living Accents brand is owned by ACE - one of McGuckins partners - multiple attempts to contact them directly also got nowhere but endless AI phone redirections and no humans. These sets are sold every year and moved in and out by season and likely sitting in a nearby warehouse. The seat cushions and covers are an odd shape that can’t be duplicated by a generic brand. Someone somewhere must know how to obtain a replacement - this must have come up in the past. McGuckins must have ACE contacts that they buy from who can help. More than a little frustrating - we would have gotten better service from Amazon - next time. Avoid large dollar purchases at this place. Now faced with paying hundreds of dollars for an upholstery place to make something similar.

As always, McGuckin staff were knowledgeable and helpful. I didn't know the name or where to look for what I came for, but the guy I spoke to led me right to where it was supposed to be. When he realized they were out he went and found out when the next shipment was expected in and took my number to call me when it came. At Home Depot that would be amazing service. At Mcguckins, it's just how they do things. If you've ever missed the old neighborhood hardware stores and wanted one with the knowledge, courtesy and quality that you used to expect, go to McGuckins. Even if you live in Denver. It's well worth the trip.

This place is a dream for anyone who hates shopping at Amazon/Home Depot but doesn't know of a convenient alternative. There is always someone nearby to help and direct you to the next place. I love that it is curated-who needs 11 choices when 2 high quality ones are so much less stressful to choose from. I know some of the prices are probably higher but this is the kind of place my values tell me to shop-and makes my nervous system happy in the process!

During my initial visit, I encountered an unfortunate situation regarding my service dog, who was not on a leash. I was informed that, due to this, I was no longer welcome and that the store would not sell me anything. I was given the option to leave, or they could call the police, to which I encouraged them to proceed. At this time, I was surrounded by the manager and four employees, who made comments such as, "Oh, he's a lawyer," and "He knows all the laws." Such remarks can be mentally distressing, regardless of the audience. I felt that I was experiencing unprofessional behavior from Bob and the other staff members. Additionally, I requested a scooter so that my service dog could sit in my lap—a common practice I have encountered in other establishments—but was informed that none were available. As I moved to another area, another employee remarked that if anything occurred, it would be my dog's fault. When another staff member gestured for him to stop, he walked away. Eventually, I returned to the area where I had been stopped. When the police arrived, they listened to my account and confirmed that I was entirely justified in my use of a service dog, differentiating it from an emotional support animal. The officer then spoke with Bob, and upon their return, stated that the situation was now resolved and clarified that he had only suggested not selling me anything until the officer arrived. Not to say the store is a bad place, it's a very nice store.
