TLDR: Highly recommend. *cross posted on the yelp Long overdue review - Matt and his family saved my a$$ in August 2022 when my car decided to die on I-5 in 109 degree heat. After AAA told me that there were no mechanics available in Redding over the weekend (which was a lie, there just weren't any in their own network), I cruised / pushed my car to their shop on a Saturday, where they immediately diagnosed it and gave me an honest assessment of what it would take to get fixed. Thankfully, they managed to source the part that I had needed relatively easily since they just had another Mazda customer that went through the same issue, and didn't charge me for the week that I had to leave my car in their lot. It's the little things that matter - and when me and my three dogs were overheated and stressed while waiting, they actually went to the corner store and got each one of my dogs a puppy ice cream to keep them cool. After that, they probably could have robbed me blind and I wouldn't have cared.

Matt and staff are great very welcoming. I can't thank them enough, my car broke down on a trip 8hrs away from home, I called Matt and even though they were busy they went out of there way to check my car, thank god my car made it to there shop and found out it was the transmission that broke, he suggested and help us call the dealership, found out Car is still under guarantee, he did not charge me a penny and while we waited for tow truck, we were welcome to wait in there waiting area very comfortable. Thank You MDR.

Price was fair, time to accomplish repairs was great and communication was great with Matt to get all the repairs accomplished. This is my favorite Auto Shop ever! Matt, his wife and son are always very attentive, caring, kind and never once tried to rip me off. They always give me a great deal and tell me the truth about what actually needs done (opposite to what Toyota of Redding tries to do every-time!) Matt is so generous, honest and always goes above and beyond! Always!! Totally recommend this shop :) I came here for the first time a few years ago through a friend’s referral who owns a car rental business in town and he gets all his cars worked on by Matt. I’m so glad I bring mine here too.

Recently took my 2017 whipple mustang to D&H automotive for a ac service only to be told that I needed to replace the whole a/c system and was then quoted $3,000+ to get it replaced.. I wanted a 2nd opinion so this morning I took my car to Matt at MDR automotive and told him what I was told from d&h about needing the whole system replaced, matt thought that was wierd so he said let's just put it on the ac machine and see what it says.. after about 30 minutes matt stated the a/c system was 100%fine and my issue was low speed cooling fans not turning on.. after about 4 hours we figured out the culprit, which was just a misplaced relay.. so all in all matt saved me $3,000+ he also worked on my car for 4+ hours and only charged me 150 for the normal ac servicing! Everyone should get a 2nd opinion with automotive mechanics, or just bring your car to Matt at MDR automotive and he will treat you with kindness and not charge you for parts that were never needed.. if I could rate 10 stars I would!!!
