Went here to figure out why my car wasn’t driving at full power. It turned out to be the catalytic converter. The manager had a mechanic walk out and look under my hood to check the converter type needed—lol. They then told me it was a VERY EXPENSIVE, specially made California CARB emissions converter that had to be used; otherwise, the check engine light would stay on. The manager kept reiterating that it had to be this specific converter because California converters were so sensitive that only this exact type would fit. Since it was such a special converter, I was asked to come back the next day to get the full price, as he needed to call the dealership for pricing first thing in the morning. The type he claimed I needed was a “California SU Level 3 catalytic converter” SMH. I believed him at first since I’m a woman who doesn’t know much about cars. But after having someone else check the labeling under my hood, I found out my car was actually made in Alabama, and a regular converter would do just fine. There was no mention of California anything under the hood. Be careful with this company. To install the converter, he quoted me about $120. The converter he claimed he was going to order? Nearly $3,000. I didn’t get the service of course. Just wanted to say please double check whatever they tell you.

Came in with no appointment with a check engine light. I had the code read prior to my visit, bad catalytic converter, so my visit was really just to inquire about the cost of replacement. Fully expecting the estimate to be in the thousands as my truck has three cats. Within minutes they diagnosed the problem could be from a small exhaust leak that could cause a "false" code. They welded it up and less than an hour later I was on my way home. Light never came back on and I passed inspection. I truly believe that had I been to any other shop I would have been taken advantage of financially. The genuine honesty of the owner and staff is amazing to see in this day and age. All said the repair was less than $100. Customer for life and will recommend to all my friends and family

Updated review: This is the third time I've brought my truck in, second time working on old worn out front suspension parts and these guys are truly the best! I couldn't be happier with the service and their attention to detail. They take pride in their work which I feel in today's world is hard to find! I would give them 10 stars if I could! Thank you Merican Muffler! I brought my truck in to get my exhaust fixed and my rear shocks replaced. The guys at Merican Muffler are the best in the business. I'm very happy with the work they did and it was a very good price. I finally found a shop I can trust with my truck.

Exceptional customer service!
