My 21-year-old daughter recently took her BMW to Midas for a routine oil change. The oil change itself was done well—no complaints there. However, the experience took a disappointing turn when she was quoted $120 for new windshield wipers and $441 for a battery replacement. Thankfully, she’s sharp and declined the extra services. When she came home from college, we had our trusted mechanic take a look. He installed new wipers for $44 and tested the battery, which turned out to be in good working condition. It raises some serious questions: Was the high pricing an honest mistake, or was it an attempt to upsell a young woman driving a nice car? Either way, it doesn’t reflect well on your business. This kind of service feels predatory and unfair. We expected better.

Great experience at Midas Waco! Jeff & Christine and team took care of my jeep after an issue cropped up when I was in town that prevented me from safely getting back on the road to Houston. They offered 2 options; one option was necessary to get me back on the road quickly and gave me the understanding of the additional work needed to be done for safe longer travels. I may come back and have the work done here on my next trip due to their professionalism and client care. Midas was recommended by a local to Waco friend and I can say I’d definitely come back again!

I hit something on the interstate while traveling for Thanksgiving and my older car started making a strange noise when reversing. Took it to this location for a diagnostic. They called me with a quote near $2000 for engine mounts replacement. When I asked if it was a safety hazard or just a nuisance thing, was told that if I didn't have the mounts replaced that my engine would literally fall out of the car while driving it. When I showed up to pick it up, any questions I asked to get clarification were met with exaggeration and fear mongering. They gave me a small demonstration of the problem by putting it in neutral and revving the engine to show that it moved slightly, as another symptom. Great, two symptoms instead of one but no actual demonstration of the root cause. Also, red-lining a 30 year old engine like you're trying to win Daytona is probably really great for it. I paid the $50 "diagnostic" fee and declined further work. Took it to a second shop and the guy pointed out that my front passenger mount was missing a bolt. He spotted it by simply looking at the engine after I described the issue I was having, car never even needed to be started. You can see it missing in the attached photo. He also told me that while it wasn't great for the car, it wasn't showing enough movement to do significant damage and would probably have gone years as is, but that there was never a risk of an engine falling out of the chassis. $2000 vs $2 bolt Update: neither the bolt or the mounts were causing the noise, so a complete waste of time and money Advice to business: Next time try listening to the problem being described instead of rushing to pat yourself on the back while trying to drum up business.
