Within a few months of moving to Des Moines I needed some auto work. My car got towed to a local dealership, and they took advantage of a "young lady who doesn't know anything about cars" and tried to charge me for work that didn't need to be done. A friend recommended Mike's Auto and I've never looked back. These guys are fantastic mechanics and only recommend work that NEEDS to be done. I've thoroughly enjoyed working with them and would recommend them to anyone. Great, respectful, honest guys!

Great service! Recommended 4 new tires for my truck and they perform just like Mike said. Fast forward 6 months later. One of my tires was having air issues and setting my TPMS light off. I called and they told me to bring it in and they would look at it, an hour later my tire was plugged and TPMS light off. Definitely would recommend family and friends!

I have to say that this is a great business. On short notice after an interview called this place up for help with my car overheating. Gave advice over the phone and help when I needed it the most. They were already booked for most of the day but still had the time to help and advice me on the problems with my car. Gave me a quick estimate on parts and labor and fixed my CRV quick. I brought an 02 Audi A6 in after replacing the power steering pump and still having troubles. They told me it was a rack and pinion, which would cost roughly $2,000, I declined and sold to a family friend, who later repaired the car. It wasn’t a $2,000 repair, it was a leaky hose to the power steering pump. Seems like they really just wanted to sell a big repair, not actually fix my car. My brother has had his Ford ranger towed there 3 times now, and they’ve done nothing but replace parts that he has already replaced, and then claim it’s fixed. He is now attempting to say that they have the wrong shop in replies to their reviews, which is a blatant lie because as of January 2nd of 2019 the red ford ranger is still sitting directly in front of his shop. He is treating his customers with serious disrespect, and fails to own up to his own mistakes. Do not bring your car here, maybe he has done well by some, but he has shown himself to be someone who cannot be trusted. I hope that you do not make the same mistakes my family has made. In response to you mike: I do not have the wrong shop, you are in the buildings next door to the wood smith store on Hickman. I know where you are, and I do not have the wrong shop, and I’m very disappointed that you think that would work on me. Treat your customers properly.

I had my battery replaced here in 2020 originally, in 2022 I came back here because my car was going dead multiple times a day, the shop did some tests and told me the battery was bad and replaced the battery. Last couple of weeks my car was dying 3-5 times a day, so last week I went to the shop and the first guy tested it and said the battery was good and would like to look at it in the shop. Then over the weekend I unplugged a few things to see if there was a draw anywhere, also unhooked the negative terminal and the car still needed jumped 4 hours later. I called the following week to drop off the car and to get looked at, and Mike told me to stop on out and he was going to replace the battery, come to find out he had put the wrong battery in my car originally in 2020 as he stated that they replace the battery's with what is already in the car- I understand this to a degree because I would assume most people would put the same battery back in the car when they would replace it. What I do not understand is that after he admitted fault, he then said the battery that is in my car is a $200 battery and the battery I needed is a $280 battery and that he would replace the battery for $280 and not charge me the installation fee. I ended up just picking the car up and buying the correct battery elsewhere and doing it myself. I will say they do have good customer service besides when doing something wrong, come up with a better solution than making the customer pay for a brand new battery when you put the wrong one in. I understand mistakes happen and that's how we learn, but I have spent 3 years with a vehicle that dies every time its left parked for more than 2 days in the summer or even in the winter when I have ran into he grocery store for less than 30 minutes to come out to a dead car and have to wait for roadside to come jump me or asking strangers to help me out. *update* You said i had the wrong battery in the car and i needed a high voltage battery, and if its under a 3 year warranty it would still be covered from last year when you replaced the first one. therefore you could've replaced the battery i have, but you told me i have to have the high voltage one.

These guys were great! I didn't want the wait of the big dealers or the hassle that sometimes comes with them. I called them and I'm pretty sure Mike himself answered the phone. They got me in for a tire repair immediately. They were fast, professional and courteous. The price is competitive and the wait time compared to the big boys is FAR better. I'll definitely be using these guys in the future!

Before finding this place I always felt wary about needing to get my vehicle fixed because so many places have tried to upsell me on this or that. But every time I've come here I've always felt fairly treated. I don't feel like they try to push anything that would be unnecessary to keep my truck running safely. And they explain what my available options are along side what they suggest so I can make an informed decision based on my needs. These guys are great and as long as I'm in the Des Moines area, I'll keep coming here.

No response. After first trying to send a email requesting a quote. Waited a few weeks. Then went in person to request a quote. There wasn't any technicians In the shop, no cars in the bays despite it being a working day. I was told by the receptionist in her Alice in chains t shirt that I'd get a phone call the following Monday. Be it two weeks later. Still nothing. Not professional.

I was traveling back to Michigan from a Chiefs game one weekend (Sept 15/16) and on my way to the hotel something broke and was hanging from under the front of my car that night. The next morning, I went to a dealership down the road from Mike's and they said it would be a 3 hour wait. I drove to Mike's right after and a man who was working, immediately stopped what he was doing and asked how he could help. I told him the situation and he said, ok where's your car? Took the car on the ramp car raiser (ha) and said that's an easy fix. It was the rock shield. He added 10+ parts that had snapped off, didn't charge me and was so nice!!! If you are ever in the area. GO TO MIKE'S! Highly recommended.

I cannot recommend Mike’s Auto enough! I brought my car here a few years ago for a second opinion on what I was told was an engine issue by another place. Rob assured me nothing was wrong, just a valve that gets stuck at the beginning of spring. He didn’t charge me for even looking at my car. I was floored. I’ve brought my car here ever since.

Nothing could have improved our experience. After Deery said we couldn't get in for 6 weeks, Mike had our Jeep in and fixed in less than 24 hours. Very professional staff, great customer service and a knowledgeable about the issue. I would highly recommend. Hopefully next time won't be a crisis situation, and simply routine maintenance. The best thing about the situation is we found Mike's Auto Service.
